He was never really in the picture at Town, so glad he can now change focus and get a bit more exposure through a different lens.

His loss. He can do one. I’m not interested in players that need persuading to join Town…

Can't really harangue the player if wants to be somewhere else. It says only reported anyhow, there's no actual definitive proof he turned down a move here. Think maybe we've done so well last two years some of the fanbase expect any available player to jump at the chance to come on board with us, it's an automatic selection etc but that's just not the way it's going to work.

Don't recognize the player, something of an obscure name at best although doubtless more familiar to the club/s in question. Took in a view of all recent signings, loan additions etc, even players released by us to other destinations etc and at first glance we seem to putting together a squad that will provide at least a chance at the highest level. Skeptics would argue otherwise and can see their doubts but you got to be realistic as to the overall quality of names we can feasibly bring in and what the starting XI will resemble on first weekend and players (that would be) available to us.

I see Szmodics has been training on his own and not played in any of the three friendly matches so IF we eventually sign him he should be match fit by the time he's 29 years in September, I would told Blackburn to take it or leave it three weeks ago.

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Oliver Skipp has attracted interest from all three of the clubs promoted to the Premier League last season — Leicester City, Ipswich Town and Southampton...

Paper talk but yes please.

Ipswich Town pushing to complete signing of "excellent" 24 y/o title winner

The 24-year-old is believed to be "on his way out" of Napoli before the end of this month, with Brentford also battling the Tractor Boys for his services. Leicester City are mentioned, too, while Galatasaray have seen their advances turned down in the past.

Cajuste could feel like a signing of real intent by Ipswich, considering the size of the club he is playing for currently, making 35 appearances for the Serie A giants. He is also a 23-time capped Sweden international, showing that he can play at an extremely high level for an extended period of time now.

The Napoli ace is a former league champion, earning title glory with FC Midtjylland in the Danish Superliga back in the 2019/20 season, and football talent scout Jacek Kulig has hailed him in the past, saying: "21 years of age. Excellent performance in an extremely important game for Midtjylland. The future of Swedish football."

That is a big endorsement, and shows how highly-rated Cajuste has been for a number of years now, and he has the ability to make a big difference for Ipswich in the middle of the park from the off, providing McKenna with much-needed quality, experience and depth.

Whilst he could certainly fill the vacant slot in the centre of midfield alongside Sam Morsy he could be very expensive with 4 years still to run on the 5 year deal he only signed last year when he joined them for a fee of €12M.

Sounds like Brentford are ahead of us

https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/footba ... 75195.html

This is the difficulty in being a newly promoted club, players will often choose established premier league clubs ahead of us.

Both players sound promising - and in a position we need.

At least there’s some rumours in the last day or so - was all a bit quiet.

I'm keen to finally be linked with players, not sure I want Skipp to be one of them though.

I think Oliver Skipp could do a decent job for us although he could be expensive. Maybe £15m plus fee and £30k pw wages. His injury record isn’t to clean either for a young un.

I think he would be excellent, he is meant to be a strong character - has leadership qualities, very high work rate etc. He would be a great CM partner for Morsy.

£15-20m for me is fine, relatively proven young player with decent premier league experience, settled in the south east here etc - IMO it's a fantastic signing if we can do it.

I might be mad but I have a theory, I very much doubt anything will happen regarding Sammie Szmodics until after August 20th and it's just possible that it's us dragging it out deliberately.

The 20th is the date for the much publicised court hearing regarding the funding of Blackburn Rovers FC by Venkys, whilst not fully understanding the ins and outs of it, I do believe that should the ruling go against them on the day they may well be forced to sell sell sell and probably at reduced value, without it it reads like Rovers could very much be up the swanee without a paddle.

This came up some time ago, I wonder if it's the same original story or if it's raised it's head again, at his best I think Kent was decent, problem is, when was his best ?

I don't think so...let's look at the players that kieran inherited ..who would have thought that he would be playing the majority of them in the Premier league within two seasons!!! From what I've seen of Kent..hes a good player . Takes on players..Good set of skills and an eye for goal too when given a chance .but he probably has been coached wrong and in a system not suited for him..let's give him a chance ..

I agree and surely we are restricted on how much more we can invest in new signings. Somewhere, sometime, something has to give. Would rather see if KM can work his magic on this guy at this price and concentrate more on that quality CM position.

Totally agree!!!...and as you said we don't know how restricted we are as regards big fee signings and wage structure from now on .we have spent over 70 million so far ..we also have players now on 30 to 40.k wages..we also spending money on what is going on in the stadium .104 projects .plus we have invested in new pitch and also training ground as well..and also plans for investment in new training ground buildings and facilities .so even though we are in the Premier league ..its not an endless pool of money..plus our owners did not buy in to the club for a hobby they want to be getting back their on their investment too ..so it's a case of cut the cloth to our measure..and stay in the Premier league ..
