TB. com - Fantasy Football

Post by Charnwood » Mon Aug 12, 2024 10:56 pm

We now have 6 players in each league. It would be good if we could get at least 2 more.

Do we have anymore competitive guys and girls who would line to come and join us ?

They're all scared of the embarrassment of finishing below me in the table I reckon, haha!

I think is going to be tough this season especially given the price of the lines of Haarland and Salah.

It’s almost tempting to dodge both of them but very high risk.

I was anti Harland, but then got scared!

Problem is you may have 2 players to cover the points Harland gets, but you can only captain one of those for the double points.

It took me a while to get a team I was happy with and I still feel I'm 1.0 to 1.5m short of making a really good side. The arsenal defenders being 6m is a challenge too. There are LOADS of good 5.5m midfield options but its hard to know which is the pick of them.

IMO Salah is too expensive, he wasn't the same last year and i may be less focussed around him this season. Loads of good options at 7-9m

Oops! That's what I did wrong last year then! No space for either of those 2 in my squad this year!

However I try to cut it, it seems impossible not to include more inexpensive players in the squad than in previous seasons. At the moment I have neither Haarland or Salah but think I need at least one of them to be competitive.

There are some very good lower price options. It’s hard to pick between them though.

I think you need one or two big hitters though to use as a consistent captain option.

Eze is the one I’m on the fence about, palace did well end of last season, have good fixtures and he is the 0.5m cheaper than other options which I can’t quite afford.

I’d have to switch him to a cheaper option (of which there are many) and upgrade a defender. It’s very hard one to call.

It's interesting about the "big 2". I occasionally read the "Scout's report" and there are some good alternatives when choosing your Captain. Players who maybe score points particularly well in home fixtures, for example. Players who actually convert more of their chances than Haarland, but just don't get so many chances in the first place, if that makes sense.

So, how many Ipswich players have you named in your squad?
I have Greaves, Hutchinson and Davis. Sadly many will say there's little room for sentimentality in football, but after waiting so many years to see Ipswich in the top flight I just couldn't help myself. .
Of course only Davis has made my starting 11 for the opener, and if the piece from an interview with the man himself is anything to go by, then he is certainly backing himself and therefore deserving of making my team
"Davis sums up the positive outlook when discussing his Fantasy Premier League price.

“£4.5m is a bargain to be fair!” laughs the former Newcastle season ticket holder. “You need to get me in your team because I’m going for it again.

"I’m going to try and work as hard as I can to break records again with assists. I’m going to try and get more assists this year. Even though it was quite a lot last year (18 - the most ever from a defender in a single Championship season), there’s no reason why I can’t do it. You’ve got to set goals and targets for yourself."

At the moment I have Hutchinson and Davis. however my biggest disappointment is Rodri being injured and even worse now dropped in value.

This is beginning to look like a nightmare league for me! I’ve lost Rodrigo, Watkin’s couldn’t hit the side of a barn door, two defenders out! Solanke out! Rome wasn’t built in a day, but I’m going down faster than Constantine!!

Well you can swap players you already have in your squad. Like I said, you get one free transfer a week.

Click on the transfer button and the rest is obvious. Good luck!

Oh man, gutted! I transferred Luis Diaz in, but left him on my subs bench as I expected a tougher game against Man Utd. All in all I have 32 points sitting on the bench from my 3 outfield players (Davis 7, Eze 10 after he scored too, Diaz 15)!

Well done Lucy. Makes up for that points deduction big time.

It seems like I've taken to this year's Fantasy league like a duck to water! One which is in cellophane wrap waiting to be popped in the oven that is! It even makes me look like a world beater in the TB Prediction League, and that is saying something!!

Not relevant to the subject matter, but have put my score predictions in for next week already as I am taking a break from the negativity which Ipswich's results are bringing to this forum. People know my views and everyone else is entitled to theirs, but in light of just how much this club has achieved in the last 2 season and considering we are a rookie lightweight team stepping into the ring with experienced heavyweights,, I find some of the criticism (and no one should be beyond constructive criticism) just far too negative. Generally my experience is that we have given a good account of ourselves (for what we are) in more games than not. I am happy with that. KM in my eyes should be safe all season, our team is threadbare on real quality & depth, which leads you on a hiding to nothing.
Look the results are not what I hoped for, Bournemouth was a bit of a gut wrenches in particular, but I want to retain my positivity. I intend giving myself a week or so away. This is a great forum, with some brilliant contributors so I'm sure I will be back and maybe just pick and chose what posts I choose to read, rather than take it all in.
