Re: What are you listening to?
Little bit of a tongue in cheek p*ss take on Turkey Day….. But i think we’re safe……. Saint doesn’t venture in here. Saw this guy in London around 2001, was a support act for the band I traveled to see. And a huge fan since. This is a decent wee 3 minute ditty! “French kiss your old Uncle Sammy Boy” ….. love that line

Re: What are you listening to?
It is Thanksgiving right now although over time you wonder the label is something of a misnomer. Can't hide from this section also, been in and out best part of 17 years, you get all around.
Find it hard to catch up on music, there just doesn't seem to be the time but during last few days tried out acts such as Pink Floyd, Verdi, Sly Fox, Depeche Mode and Plastic Bertrand. Won't tell no lie it's something of a mixed bag. Anything after say 1995, not much chance of catching a listen.

Odd thing there Weller was great for The Jam but just didn't cut it with The Style Council. I'd jump at the chance to tune in to many of the formers hits and releases (music was awesome for a time around then unlike the unmitigated sh*t they bring out today) but once he crossed over to the other the same listening experience just got up and left. It's a shame The Jam broke up in '82 or thereabouts as feel even now Weller were at the top of his game and they still had plenty to offer.

Re: What are you listening to?
Took me a while to get into Weller's stuff, I think most listeners would agree with you as he cut his teeth with the punk and/or hard edged new wave on the first couple of Jam LPs and that was where his fanbase originated. Latecomer's like me picked up on All Mod Cons and Start. And much latterly on The Gift.arana peligrosa wrote: ↑Wed Dec 04, 2024 4:36 pmOdd thing there Weller was great for The Jam but just didn't cut it with The Style Council. He'd outgrown The Jam; found in Mick Talbot a co-conspiritor and sought out what he wanted to do. To the great consternation of The Jam fans. But to me the change from late The Jam to early Style Council is, perhaps, the bit of his career I most enjoy.
But I suspect most would disagree.

I’m sure I’ve posted this before. By far, my favourite Modest Mouse song.

That first song, 3rd planet……. Very much like Bare Naked Ladies. Pretty decent stuff. Even the wife asked, “What’s that you got on your phone?”

Well he's been banned once for stuff like that and shouldn't be on here, like we don't know who it is so I'm thinking of doing it again before the same old habits kick in.

I was only joking, mate. I have a brother who hates Christmas music. I should have put a smiley face. My apologies.

Re: What are you listening to?
Aw no buddy, there isn't. I tried YouTube but it's not there.
Basically, a large amount of my music collection (CD form) is on my phone. Its the Fish "Yin" & "Yang" Cd's....., he re-recorded Incubus from the Fugazi album as a solo artist with his band. Granted, its not as good as Marillions more prog rock version, but damn its good. Not heard it for easily 20 years and the phone randomly picked it today. I was blasting it. Deaf when I got home. What ??

Re: What are you listening to?
Changing subject, but a very good friend of mine visited Edinburgh recently. He loved it! He’s still getting shipments of bourbon lol! I didn’t even know you could mail order alcohol, but apparently Scotland can lol!marko69 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 24, 2024 1:12 amAw no buddy, there isn't. I tried YouTube but it's not there.

Re: What are you listening to?
I think OhioTractorBoy gets Irn Bru shipped over? …… or he was going to.
Not sure at all on the bevvy laws to be honest, 24.
Edinburgh is great, (I would say that) …… but, its sort of turning to sh*t a little bit. The roads are terrible. Really wish they’d actually spend some money on road repair.
True story. A good buddy of mine (with dash-cam) took the Edinburgh Council to court over an incident that happened about 3yrs ago. Was the Whitehouse Road area of Edinburgh; road was like something on an Attenborough Safari show……. Burst one of the front suspension coils and the coil itself ripped all other areas of “Engine” …… bill from VW was over £2K.
He was like, “FKN NOPE! NO CHANCE!”
Paid out in advance for lawyers etc but he won it. Didnt gain any cash, just got back what he paid out.
AND…….. That road was fixed up. There were temp lights there for about 2 months
Im sure Ipswich will have the same road issues.
ANYWAY…….., back on Topic…,…. Listening to Randy RHODES!!!!

90mph winds in rural West Lothian.
I hope these trees bend like pole vaulting poles.
Hurricanes in the USA must be off the scale scary as hell.
