Yup no choice
I personnaly couldnt give a sh*t about England I laughed when i saw that result tonight but if i saw that ipswich had lost i would be fed up
I dont like Sven very much and i dont like half the players he plays
I dont like their attitude either they dont seem to try very hard
Its your Country for gods sake

Ipswich for me, although i still think England will at least reach the final of Euro 2004
ive said before id rather ipswich get to the playoffs and lose the final, (beating the scummers in the playoff semi) we are just not good enough to go up, we'd get dicked every week, i know we need the money but we'd become the laughing stock of the bloody country

Looks like I'm on my own with this one!
I love both Ipswich and England and it's a real toughie but I've seen Ipswich achieve greatness (FA cup, UEFA cup and winning the Play Off's) in my lifetime but I've never experienced England winning a major tournament.
I just think that if England were to win Euro 2004 it would make the whole country a brighter, better place (even if it was just a temporary thing) and even if Ipswich don't win promotion this season we'll get into the Premiership sooner or later!

Ahhhhhhh Euro '96!
[nostalgia mode] I remember it as if it were yesterday, in the jam-packed "Sports Bar" in Leicester square for the Swiss and Jock matches, at Wembley for the Demolition of the Dutch (a real "I was their moment" and the first ever England international match I'd ever attended), "Three Lions", "Eat my goal", listening to the radio whilst at a wedding for the penalty shoot out against the Spanish and then back at Wembley for the (in)famous semi with the bloody Germans (Trivia - Gareth Southgate has taken two penalties in his career and missed them both and I saw both of them, one for Palace at Portman road and the "other" one!), Shearer scoring after 8 minutes, Kuntz equalising (what an appropriate name!), Anderton hitting the post, Gazza failing to connect with the goal gaping, Germany "scoring" in Golden Goal extra time (disallowed incorrectly...haha!).
I also went to matches at Old Trafford (Germany 3-0 Russia), the City Ground (Portugal 3-0 Croatia...I think, can't remember now!) and Villa Park (Czech.Republic 1-0 Portugal in one of the QF...Poborsky's lob!)...what a tournament! We should've bloody won it!
What a glorious summer that was!

I've got that on video somewhere as well, I'll have to try to find it! I've also got the BBC's highlights program of the whole tournament...I know it's hard to believe kids but there was a time when Des Lynam was the daddy and not just the figurehead for ITV's pathetic attempt at football coverage!Wicked blue wrote:im with you all the way Toby.......in fact, i think i'll dig out my video of 'my summer with des'......brings it all back, Wow!! what a feeling, makes the hairs stand up on the back of yr neck......
COME ON ENGLAND
Oh and Rachel Weiss, well you would wouldn't you (if you're a bloke)!

When I see footage of Stuart Pearce sticking that penalty away against Spain (and then again against the Germans!) and his reaction it just brings a lump to my throat and a tear to my eye!
What a bloke...he truly loved playing (and fighting!) for England, a truly commited player...and great taste in music (big Stranglers, Sex Pistols and Clash fan!).

Definately one of the best matches I've ever been to, had some great banter with the Dutch fans before the game and even after it they were good as gold (of course the fact that they'd qualified for the QF's as well helped!).Gaz wrote:I've still got that England v Holland Euro '96 game on video, that was a superb night to be English
Me and my friends were still dancing in the aisle for the 2nd goal when the 3rd one went in!
What a match, what a night, what a party, what a hangover!

Well neither of them in my opinion are going to happen but my preference would be England to win Euro 2004. The reason for my decision is because we have not won enough or played well enough this season to be in the premiership. I feel if we wait a season or two longer, then we might have a stronger squad because I am hoping Joe is going to bring some more younger players through next season and also bring some in on loan and sell some who's time has come to an end here.
England have got to put in good performances though if they want to win Euro 2004 but I know they stand a better chance of winning Euro 2004 than us getting any sight of promotion this season.
Sorry people if this upsets you in any way but that's how I feel and I thought you should all know my thoughts on this matter.
Please let me know your comments/ thoughts with regards to this post.
