What are you listening to?

A place to chat about anything thats not football related. Most of the threads in here are completely pointless which is why people keep coming back and back. As the forum title suggests, feel free to make any post you want on any subject you wish. It also has Adult jokes (so be warned) which is the other reason people keep coming back.

Arsehole Springsteen on the radio. That Santa Claus song. Got a minute in, audibly said, “FK OFF, Springsteen” ..... and switched off.

He may be one of the richest guys in music but my God, he’s sh*t. In my 100% correct opinion of course.
I've got 2 or 3 Springsteen albums. Haven't played any of themy more than once. Very overrated I think

Dug out "what's in that bag" by Chuck Leavell. My favourite Christmas album. He was the pianist on the Allman Brothers' Jessica and Eric Clapton's Unplugged amongst many others.

I don't usually get much beyond 1973, but after Miles Davis' "Milestones ", I bought Michael Chapman's "50" and the very recently released new one from Cat Power. A great album.

Thank God - not just me then!

Spent years wondering what all the fuss was about.

Just been listening to The Prodigy - Fat of the Land on my way to pick my lad up. I'm sure the 'youth' would wonder what I am up to - me with my grey beard and all!!

🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘 👏👏👏👏

Absolutely fking AWESOME, Nicscreamer. I loved that. Will watch again later on a bigger screen.

My only singing experience was with a prog band back in 92...... wasn’t a member but the lead singer was in a minor car accident and was in hospital on a band practice night. Done three songs, sung one of their own songs, and then “Charting the Single” by Marillion and “Firth of Fifth” by Genesis...... sadly no footage, ....., and ...... they didn’t ask me back! 😂

But you rock, dude. You still do a bit? Or strictly karaoke?

Fantastic stuff, Nicscreamer. The sound, and your voice, remind me of US rockers, Great White. Thats one helluva compliment! I have this feeling that when you really let loose and rock that mic, you'll be just like Jack Russell, (lead chanter in GW). Ohiotractorboy is very much into this type of stuff and I have no doubt at all he'll give the thumbs up to both of the Youtube clips posted. Please do post more if there are other songs you've recorded.

Here is Great White

Here you. This is a cover of “rhinestone cowboy”. Recorded late 1999. The guitar player iPlayer the bass on the previous song and sadly took his own life earlier this year. He was a brilliant mate and top notch guitarist

On the first song, he's the one in the stripy T shirt with his hands above his head. In the second he's the one second from the left leaning over the guy in blues shoulder.

Ive got one more for you...….https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sOsGgVH_9mA&t=3s

This one is from 1993 (same band as the first song I posted) I have silly long hair in this one and we wanted to be like Pearl Jam mixed with the chilly peppers.! Oh great days before I got old lol

Aww bud that's very kind of you to say.

They are great memories. I was going to be a rock star and rule the world... Lol. Now alas I run my business and sing in a covers band at the weekends (when I am not running). Its funny how life works out, but wouldn't change the memories of the gigs we did, the time in the recording studios and the fun we had... mostly spaced out 8)

Anyone ever hear a song and instantly it transfers you to a particular point in your past? Baker Street by Gerry Rafferty just came on radio and it took me straight back to a particular Christmas morning. 1979 maybe. We had all just finished opening presents, then my dad went into the kitchen for his coffee, switched on the radio, Baker Street was on......., he said, “Oh I like this one.” and turned up the volume.
Transferred me right back to that morning. I miss my Raleigh Grifter.

Seriously, music is like a diary. So much brings back memories. I wonder if that's why so many of us never really move on from the music of our late teens / early twenties.

I was thinking the same thing the other day Andy, I believe music from your early adulthood defines your playlists forever.

Did watch on YouTube earlier Groove Armadas live performance of purple haze at Brixton.

Believe this is my all time favourite live song, check it out if you get a chance.
