1) Sears ( Knee- ACL)
2) Nsiala ( hamstring)
3) Lankester ( back)
4) Judge ( wrist)
5) Bishop ( Knee - MCL)
6) Nolan? (?) hasn’t played a game yet
7) Edwards (?) hasn’t played a game yet
And every single one of these would be considered first teamers.......have I missed anyone out?
Season starts in 3 weeks. Just when will this perpetual injury crisis end I wonder, and more to the point why do our players sustain these injuries. Is it intrinsic ( their body make up), or extrinsic ( training methods). I know Lambert ordered a review of all these aspects to try and identify the reasons. We must look to minimise these injuries....or types of players recruited?

I think this is it, Hallam. Is it me, or does it seem like a lot of our Academy players are rather puny? Maybe we should be recruiting from the north? ...maybe we need a different nutritionist? I remember reading a book about Beattie and it said Sir Bobby made sure the landlady fed the 'Beat' steaks every night! I think our Academy needs to bulk up a bit!

Re: So, current injured player roll call
Judging by the latest pre-match conf. the status is now:
1) Sears ( Knee- ACL) - Progressing well, November back to training?
2) Nsiala ( hamstring) - No mention but wasn't it just a few weeks? October back to training?
3) Lankester ( back) - Aggravated in pre-season, 2020?
4) Judge ( wrist) - Already back and maybe starting tomorrow
5) Bishop ( Knee - MCL) - long time. Forgotten about him already
6) Nolan? (?) hasn’t played a game yet - Nearly back September?
7) Edwards (?) hasn’t played a game yet - Nearly back, already in light training - August return?
Dozzell - Now fit and ready for a place on the subs bench
So pretty soon the list will be down to 4 (in bold)

I would have thought Nsiala would be back in September. I thought it was six weeks and that was four weeks ago.
There’s some weird ones ... Nolan and Edwards. Always feel they’re a week away or nearly there... but that seems to going on for weeks and weeks. And Lankester seems on the away to being a sick-note.
Big positive is Huws getting game time. I’m happy to see him getting some minutes off the bench. Fingers-crossed.... but that’s like a new player.

Lankester to Undergo Surgery on Back Injury
Friday, 9th Aug 2019 17:32
Town forward Jack Lankester is set to undergo surgery on his back injury and will require five months of rehabilitation before the Blues have a clear idea of when he will be able to return.
Having made his first-team debut in October last year, Lankester, 19, suffered a stress fracture of his back in January, which ended his breakthrough season early. In total he made five starts and six sub appearances.
The Bury St Edmunds-based youngster returned in pre-season but suffered another stress fracture in the game against Fortuna Dusseldorf at the Interwetten Cup in Meppen, pictured above.
The academy product, who will be a guest on tomorrow's Life's a Pitch, will go under the knife next week before beginning a lengthy period of rehabilitation.
“Jack had a stress fracture in January. After a period of six months’ rehabilitation and further scans, he was cleared by a specialist to return to pre-season training,” Town physio Matt Byard told the club site.
“Unfortunately Jack suffered a subsequent stress fracture against Fortuna. It’s a completely new injury.
“Having spoken to leading consultants in the UK and the US, they have advised us that a minimally invasive procedure will help his fracture to heal.
“This is specialist approach to the treatment of a stress fracture and he will have surgery next week.
"He will then have a focused rehabilitation period over the coming months. “He will have a scan after five months and from there we will have a much clearer idea of when he can return to training.”
Lankester's absence for the first half of the season, probably longer, is a further blow for the Blues with Teddy Bishop out for three months with a knee injury and Tristan Nydam sidelined for six months with a broken ankle.
Yet more bad injury news.
