Can we assume that the majority of your fantasy team is absolute shyte, 9? Spent all your dough on Salah?

Re: liverpool v naaawich
Serious question here for SBR era Ipswich Town fans, mainly those who attended matches.
Haven't got SKYTV in my house, binned it years ago. Tonight, as Naarwich started their EPL season, decided to watch Liverpool v Ipswich game highlights from the 70s/80s on YouTube. This also meant a few other games, Ipswich v Man Utd, Man City, Spurs etc......., and the question is this......., was Paul Cooper in any way a weak link to Ipswich Town not winning the Division One title in that era? Obviously a rated goalkeeper and won honours etc etc ......, but some of his howlers were feckin incredible. Any ancient forum members remember any games he may have cost the club important points?
A huge positive was Frans Thijssen. Man, his vision was second to none.

Can’t say I can remember any particular games where he cost us important points although this may very well be because how good the players were in front of him.marko69 wrote: ↑Fri Aug 09, 2019 10:59 pmSerious question here for SBR era Ipswich Town fans, mainly those who attended matches.

What I do remember is his ability to save penalties. Unlike now where goalkeepers can study loads of videos of a teams penalty taker it was a lot different back then.
I remember a rumour doing the rounds back in the 70’s that Pat Jennings was close to signing for us. Whether there was any truth in it I don’t know but I often wonder if he had whether we would have had even more success.

And the best comment from a nogger fan goes to(I can't believe this is my actual family, but married in to it)after Norwich got one back
"at least we're doing better than Barcelona"
Clutching at any straws comes to mind

Yes, Shed. Great penalty stopper. I remember watching the Derby County game on MOTD back then.
But some of the shots than slipped under him, or he was slow to get to were unreal. Think Bart was crucified for waaaaay less last season!
But....... All relative to the time in question I suppose.

Remember that Derby game well. It was one of the few occasions I missed a game then but I had something else on that day which ended up with me saying “I do”.
At the reception I kept looking at my watch and one of mates said to me “you’re keen”. I said “I know but I’ve missed the game and now it looks like I’m going to miss it on MOTD as well”.

Superb.
And?
No...., not the personal details........, did you manage to catch MOTD? Lets face it, only the posh ones in the street had video recorders in those days to tape the football.
And unfortunately a "stream" was a Soda Stream! Which only the posh ones had too!
