Bony is going to Turkey. Unfortunately there are a large amount of plebs follow town and probably can’t read.Charnwood wrote: ↑Wed Aug 14, 2019 3:28 pmI think somebody may have misread this headline in the Grimsby Telegraph....
Wilfried Bony 'just' training with Newport County as Ipswich Town target striker
https://www.grimsbytelegraph.co.uk/spor ... ny-3209826
The article reads;
Premier League and Championship clubs may have been forced to call time on their summer recruitment, but sides in League One and Two still have time to shape their respective squads.
Unlike the top two tiers, clubs in the lower reaches of the EFL have until Monday, September 2 to wrap up any further summer transfer window business.
From Wilfried Bony sensationally training with Newport County to Ipswich Town looking to get a loan deal done for a Millwall striker, here are all the latest rumours from League One and League Two.
Ipswich to step up Elliott pursuit
Ipswich Town are understood to be keen on stepping up their interest in Millwall striker Tom Elliott, according to South London Press.
Elliott, who scored just three times last term – one of which was incidentally against Ipswich – resumed training on Monday, but was deemed not fit enough to feature in the Carabao Cup win over West Brom last night.
Should Ipswich manage to seal a deal for Elliott, it will be the second time this summer that the two clubs have traded players, with Millwall previously getting a deal over the line for goalkeeper Bartosz Bialkowski.

I’m thinking we still look pretty lightweight up front, have I got it wrong or could we do with another striker before the transfer window closes.

That’s what I’m thinking. Roberts is not really a striker so all we have is two fit strikers at the club. Many want us to go two up top, but that pretty much uses up all our strikers. I think that has to be a priority. I’m not overwhelmed by Elliott, but he’s a big lump and could be handy to offer physicality up front.
Full back is an issue, too. With Garbutt and Nydam injured, we don’t have any LB cover, really. Only Clements who’s not ready.

[Vincent-Young Bid Accepted Report
Thursday, 15th Aug 2019 10:08
Town are reported to have had a bid for one-time trialist Kane Vincent-Young accepted by Colchester United.
The 23-year-old right-back, who also operates on the opposite flank, was believed to have been the subject of a Blues approach earlier in the week and we understand discussions have continued over the last few days. Now, Sky Sports are reporting that the League Two U’s have accepted an offer.
Vincent-Young spent time on trial with Town during pre-season ahead of 2018/19 but wasn't offered a deal and ended up signing a new two-year contract at Colchester.
Last week the one-time Tottenham academy youngster, who also had a spell with Banbury early in his career, was linked with moves to Championship sides Luton and Charlton but their transfer deadline passed with Vincent-Young still at the JobServe Community Stadium. Leagues One and Two are still open for transfer business until September 2nd.
However, Town may not be the only contenders for the Camden-born defender’s signature with Sky claiming that Sunderland could also join the chase.

Nice to see addressing the defence issue, and I agree we do need a bit more firepower and a striker, if Elliott is not the man any suggestions?

Just wondered what your thoughts are on Ellis Harrison being dropped yesterday, hasn't taken long, must have made a good impression.ipswichtownNo1 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 07, 2019 10:40 pmOr sold ellis who scored 2 against a championship side this week, result for pompeyBluemike wrote: ↑Wed Aug 07, 2019 10:28 pmYes had it closed in May we wouldn't have had James Norwood, result.ipswichtownNo1 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 07, 2019 8:29 pm
May as well have closed in May. I very nearly got me and my son a season ticket after marcus evans speech but im so glad i didnt now. All smoke and mirrors from that bloke. I still feel town have enough to compete but ME should feel ashamed after conning so many people out of hard earned cash for season tickets via his once a season bullshite interview. No wonder PL seems so annoyed at the moment.

He will defo play ahead of Donacien after yesterday’s display. Lambert clearly doesn’t rate him at full back and I’m not convinced he really likes him at centre back.

I'm sure you are right about Donacien Mike but yesterday was the day he needed to play out of his skin with the new right back signing, but he may well get a couple more games as KVY has a toe injury according to PL.

Took further time to realize the player in question but now established appears favorable reviews from TWTD. Seems an up and comer, something promising there although whether he'll see out the suggested four year contract is debatable. Still think we're by and large assembling a team of obscure names and arguable risks that could over time prove nowhere near good enough but understand the lack of investment and have to remain realistic about potential and confirmed acquisitions.

I’m in favour of longer deals, it protects the investment.

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread 2019/20 Season
Town have completed the signing of Tottenham left winger Anthony Georgiou on loan until January.
Georgiou, who will wear the number 38 shirt, trained with the Blues this morning and the paperwork is expected to be completed in time for him to be in the squad for Tuesday’s game against AFC Wimbledon.
Born in Lewisham of Greek-Cypriot descent, Georgiou came through the Spurs academy and has made one senior sub appearance for Tottenham, as a substitute in a Champions League tie coincidentally against Cypriot side APOEL in September 2017, in addition to being a regular in their U23s.
The 22-year-old, who has won six caps for Cyprus and can also play at left-back, joined Spanish side Levante on loan in January and featured for their B team in the third tier of Spanish football, making 11 appearances and scoring one goal.
Town boss Paul Lambert, who has been looking for two more signings having completed the addition of right-back Kane Vincent-Young this morning, said early in the summer he wasn’t keen to sign too many loan players, however, he admitted last week that he could be forced to make additions of that type.
“You might have to short-term to get where you want to get to sometimes,” he said. “It’s not ideal, I’ve always said it’s not ideal.
“In my opinion, it’s not the right way to try and build your own team, but sometimes it’s dictated. It’s not an ideal scenario.”
Georgiou will provide extra competition on the Town left, potentially allowing Luke Garbutt, who is currently out for a month with a knee injury, to move to left-back to cover first-choice Myles Kenlock if required once he is fit.
Lambert would now appear to need only one more signing before the window closes on September 2nd with a big striker in the mould of Millwall's Tom Elliott - whose move broke down last month - the type of frontman he is after

Panic buy in a position that isn’t a priority. Defender and striker are more essential. If not one of those two positions should be for an exceptional player... and there is zero reason to thing this lad will even play more that 10 games.
