Tommy Smith’s come and get me hint?
https://www.ipswichstar.co.uk/sport/ips ... -1-6355380
Personally I think he’d struggle with the demands of 2 games or more a week (when this Club finally decides to stop canceling games!). He’s been out of the rigors of the English game for a couple of years now, and it’s never easy going back to pick it up again.
I think before he left us he was picking up continual niggling injuries, do a player in his late 20’s , off the pace do to speak is maybe not an ideal target in January. Although if was to return and could readjust I think league one is about his level, and as a left footed CB could be useful.
What do others think ?

I think its nothing more than training with us as the article on TWTD says, at least I hope so, wouldn't want him back here, was never a fan first time around.

An injury to one or more of our CB’s we can cope. CB is a position we have cover. Stay in the USA, Tommy.
Could we cope if KVY, Norwood or Downes are out for a while?
Not sure if Evans is likely to open his cheque book in January, but I’d be looking to get decent back-up for KVY (RB)and Norwood(target man). And if Downes is out we don’t have a similar physical midfielder. Bring 2-3 in ... and then offload a few bodies who won’t make it here - Roberts, Donacien, Dozzell.

No disrespect whatsoever to the thread, Hallamski, but the above quote is bang on, in a nutshell.

He wasn't good enough for the U.S., that's why he's back at Ipswich.

I th8nk it’s close season in US right now isn’t it ? Which is why he’s “ nipped” home.
Marko, I wasn’t hinting at him coming back to Town, just that HE might be looking for a return at some point maybe?

It's ok Hallam, I fully understood that you weren't hinting...... My post was directed at the article and those words by Tang. Before I even read Tangs post, I said out loud to no one in particular, "FFS, Tommy. Stay in the USA!"

Wouldn't mind him coming back,he had some goals in him from set pieces.Might be good cover as we have a constant injury crisis.

There is absolutely no doubt at all that he is very good at being involved in set pieces. He’s scored a few goals in a Town shirt.
But does the equation balance on both sides;
Set pieces in forward positions / headless chicken defending.
Got to say that equation is weighted to the right a bit.

It's debatable if he can defend or not, this goes for most of our defence.I wanna see him return. It an area that needs strenthening.

In a non sarcastic way, it definitely is debatable now. Because the club are a level lower. Maybe he could be useful. The championship definitely caught up with him.
