Conor Wickham?
Was thinking the other day , where the hell has this player gone?? He seems to have fallen off the face of the Earth. I can’t remember the last time I heard his name mentioned in a game. Is he injured - still ???

Massively overrated back in the £8M days.

Re: Conor Wickham?
He's still at Palace, has been involved in 16 league games in the last 4 seasons, many of those probably from the bench.
Lastest major injury kept him out from Nov '16 until Oct '18. This summer Palace added a year to his contract, which now runs until June 2021. So they must think he's capable of coming back and playing at that level...

Yeah probably, but what does £8m buy you in terms of top level strikers? Besides, even Lionel Messi would've struggled to make headlines if he had had as many injuries!!!

Re: Conor Wickham?
Back in 2010/11 someone posted, “should get £5M plus for him”......, think my response was something along the lines of “what you smoking?”..... and he went for 8. I know nothing.

Re: Conor Wickham?
It's easy to forget that Wickham had only just turned 16 when he made his first appearance for us in 2009. He was a very promising teenager and it is unfortunate for him that serious injury put him out of action for well over a year. It's hard to come back from that. He is still only 26 so time is on his side. Good luck to the lad.

I thought the lad was real quality and for me a vastly better all round player than Rhodes.

Re: Conor Wickham?
Is this a wind up? I have got to believe that it is.
Back in the days of both CW & JR coming through the ranks, almost every ITFC quote typed up onto print at the time was stating that even though Wickham had quality, Rhodes was the one with undoubted potential to go far. He certainly had maybe four golden years...... fizzled out now though perhaps.
That’ll never rest for me, (not asking anyone to join me in it)....., but RK and his Tampax over Rhodes choice. f**king c**t.

Re: Conor Wickham?
No wind up Marko, had it not been for numerous injuries Wickham would have left Rhodes standing, far better player in my opinion

Re: Conor Wickham?
For me, back in their younger days, CW looked more Peter Crouch-like, (an acquired taste to watch) .... whereas Rhodes (at ‘Udders) looked more Charlie Nicholas / Ally McCoist. Definitely my preferred type of striker. To be honest how Roy Keane didn’t see the potential speaks volumes that he’s full of sh*te.

Re: Conor Wickham?
We all know Roy Keane is THE WORST thing to happen to ITFC, far worse than any McCarthy, Duncan, Magilton, Jewell, Evans and yes even Hurst.

Re: Conor Wickham?
I seem to remember reading round about the time that he joined Palace, that Wickham had become a bit of a diva with an inflated opinion of himself.
True or not, who knows.

I mean at that point he's a premiership player, I can count on one hand how many premiership footballers I wouldn't describe like that... doesn't really mould a model personality and ego does it?barmy billy wrote: ↑Wed Dec 04, 2019 5:07 pmI seem to remember reading round about the time that he joined Palace, that Wickham had become a bit of a diva with an inflated opinion of himself.

Re: Conor Wickham?
He clearly has impeccable taste then, as befits the diva he is alleged to be.
