Re: What are you listening to?
Just watched a documentary on Ron Geesin. Strange bloke who made some strange music. Ive got 3 albums of his I think. For those who don't recognise the name, he co-wrote Atom Heart Mother with Pink.Floyd.
Plays piano and banjo. The first thing I heard I of his was Certainly Random which appeared on a Transatlantic sampler (the older ones amongst you will remember samplers) called Listen Here and cost 14/6d.

I assume only in small doses for the Ron Geesin stuff, Andy? Jaysus H, that was different.

Yes definitely! Not exactly mainstream.
I've got 3 albums of his and play them about once every 20 years

Re: What are you listening to?
Ys, it was great. Atom Heart Mother was fairly pretentious sh*t really but I've always loved it.
Ron Geesin was responsible for arranging the orchestra and choir parts.
As an aside, my music teacher when I was at school apparently played a few bars of organ on Atom Heart Mother. We played it to him one day and he'd never heard it - he just did his bit and went home.

Re: What are you listening to?
This instrumental is worth a listen, Andy. Pendragon's "Excaliber" Saw this band many many times......, first time supporting Marillion WAAAAY back in 82.
And get this......, touring next year, (March). Their gig in Scotland is on a Sunday night in Kinross ,13 miles from my front door. SOLD OUT. I'm travelling to Morecambe the night before that to see them! GRRRR!! I had received the email about the Kinross gig but was too busy to read it at the time.
But its a weekend away with the Mrs I guess. Absolutely fantastic band live.

Really enjoyed that. They're a band I know nothing about. The name is familiar but I stopped listening to music in the 80s really. I'll have to look out for them - both on record and live.

Re: What are you listening to?
It never ceases to amaze me how some songs seem to pass you by!
Was listening to Virgin Chilled on radio today and heard Massive Attack's "Teardrop" for, what i think is, the first time! How the hell has this failed to be on my radar over the last 20 or so years? Just giving it a proper listen, along with "Angel".

Re: What are you listening to?
My buddy said to me that I should listen to Virgin Chilled, Azzurro, but when I took the digital radio out the fridge, wouldn't work. Basterd owes me a radio.
Must go listen to this Teardrop thing you both ^^^^^^^ speak of.

Re: What are you listening to?
Absolutely fantastic, 9.
Song usually makes me emotional and the eyes moisten over........, but that was worse there. My very best pal from school; his dad was Waters' living image and he died last year.
RIP Billy....... Best TV technician ever and Roger Waters double.

Sometimes when your teams aren’t performing, life is kicking you in the bollocks, work is pissing you off...you just have to roll up a spliff and listen to Floyd.
