'Heads Up' - Site Server Upgrade coming (update 31.1.20)
Hi All,
Sorry for the slowness of the site recently.
Have agreed to upgrade the site server with EUKHost over the next 24 hours which should deliver a fast 'new' site.
Apologies if you strike any issues, but any problems as this is migrated should be addressed fairly quickly.
Cheers Dave

Frosty, is this something we could all chip into to help with the cost of the upgrade?

Re: 'Heads Up' - Site Server Upgrade coming
Really appreciate the sentiments Derick, thank you.
In fairness it’s not costing a lot, the site has probably been on the wrong ‘plan’ for ages which offsets the cost of a better system ie going from 1gb to 4gb , new anti spam feature etc.
Thanks again Dave

Echo that Derick, nice one. Would gladly donate to the forum.
Other forums have “donate” options. I donate a few quid to a particular forum around Christmas time. Could be an idea to add this feature to the forum. Will definitely help with running costs......: or towards a new Audi you motorway psychopath!
Anyone remember the change from the old format to the current format? Older members were like , “Noooo! I hate change!”

Re: 'Heads Up' - Site Server Upgrade coming
Actually haven't driven an Audi for a few years Marko.
Ok, the migration has taken place.
It may take a little while to load when you first login, but should be ok after that.
There are quite a few error messages coming up which I will follow up the hosting service about.
It may pay to delete your browsing history before logging on again.
Go into ‘internet options’ on your iPad or iPhone (under settings) and ‘delete browsing history’.

Ok, I jumped the gun a bit folks, still on the old slow server, give 24 hours (and some assistance from Dazza) and then we should be running on the new server.

Re: 'Heads Up' - Site Server Upgrade coming (Updated)
Ok just a quick update.
There is just one last step that has to take place in order for the switch over to the new server to occur.
Dazza has provided awesome assistance, but has been fustrated with some of the Tech support from EUKHost.
He will be online with them again in the morning at which point hopefully the change over will be finalised.
Thanks for all your patience.
Cheers Dave
ps .... Thank you all for your kind offers of assistance. I guess paying for the site is no different to you folks buying season tickets, it's all about supporting Town! (ps ........... I would rather be buying season tickets btw )

Well it was at 10.30 this morning but it’s not now, maybe they were testing on the new server but it wasn’t stable...?

Re: 'Heads Up' - Site Server Upgrade coming
Basically thats correct Andy, the new server just needs a couple of final configurations done to it.
I have tested it and it runs great and is now mirroring the old server.
Hope to have a full changeover soon, Dazza is just sorting out a few last minute configurations with EUKHost.
Will announce when the actual changeover occurs so people can let me know how they are finding it.
Thanks again for everyones fustrations as I know how bloody fustrating it is when you type out a message and the damm thing doesnt post.
cheers Dave

I’ll second that Mike, I’ve just been trying to do the TB Cup update, 2nd Round Draw and next weeks PL fixtures, it’s taken bloody ages.

Sorry chaps, I am just waiting on Dazza to resolve something.
He assists for free so I don't want to push him too much which I am sure you understand.

Re: 'Heads Up' - Site Server Upgrade coming
Any update Frosty, for me I think it’s getting worse. I now have to logon every time I visit the site.
I’m just hoping a final “cease up” doesn’t screw up this seasons Prediction League which is proving very popular with only one drop out.

Re: 'Heads Up' - Site Server Upgrade coming
Yes, I am really sorry for the delay in changing over to the new server (which has fully been setup).
I am reliant on Dazza for the last step which is resolving a domain name issue, which I don't fully understand to be honest.
I do know he is doing his level best to resolve this asap, I am a bit wary about giving an exact time for changeover as this is one area of the forum where I lack the skills required and I am very much in his (capable) hands at this point.
I will try and get Daz to comment on this thread as I am sure he will explain things better.
Really apologise for this issue which I didn't see coming. In simple terms software has moved on, the ISP didn't advise me of these changes that would require a faster server with more RAM. What should have been a simple process to upgrade (which has already been paid for by the way) has been held up with the final step to switch over.

Re: 'Heads Up' - Site Server Upgrade coming
I’m still finding this site painfully slow to load any thread or anything posted, Dave!
I’ve cleared my browsing history as suggested , but still no change. It doesn’t matter if I’m accessing the site from iphone, iPad, or lap top , still very very slow. I’m not having this problem going onto any other site, or social media. So it has to be TB site.
Anyone else having same problems?

Re: 'Heads Up' - Site Server Upgrade coming
The irony is, Dave; when the site is running smooth, I wish the vast majority would RAM their opinions. Rock & a hard place spring to mind.
Joking.
No i'm fking not.

Can't wait for the final piece of the jigsaw to fall into place.
Tis painful at the moment - either lightening quick or so slow you could go make a cup of tea
