First decent bit of football in the 47th minute.
Need to do that the whole of the second half.

Re: Rotherham United vs Ipswich Town Preview & Matchday Thread
Rotherham 8 shots, 4 on target v Town 0 & 0....
I guess sooner or later it was bound to happen.
However we’re still in touch with everything to play for and options on the bench.
This games not lost yet.

Rotherham are pressing the ball really well hence why we keep knocking it long. They have 4-5 players running out putting pressure on our back line / midfield when we are in possession.

I was right this referee is a homer. Goal comes from 2 mistakes 1 in midfield and Norris. Why are we trying to play like them? We will get f*ck all unless we start playing. But my real worry is this Ref. Is he actually from Rotherham?Bluemike wrote: ↑Tue Jan 28, 2020 11:52 amI think that's a given.derick_ipsw wrote: ↑Tue Jan 28, 2020 11:50 amWill be watching on IFOLLOW tonight, just hope we don't get another crap referee who ruins the game.

It seems to be our only tactics are for the CB’s to lump it up to get Jackson past their CB’s. It just goes to their GK or he’s offside.
We need to start passing it around. They’re physical and dominating midfield, but we need to start playing to our strengths. I can’t help feel we’re giving them too much respect and we can’t try and out-muscle them.
0-0 at HT would have been a good score for us - but can’t complain with 1-0 down. I’d get Bishop on.

Huws needs off. Not being allowed to play by the fast press but he is a 2nd yellow waiting to happen. We need somehow to get our passing game going and bring the midfield in to play and forget the long ball. Its not working. Bishop/Sears in for all of second half?

I watched Huws on Saturday. His first touch really isn't great. If Rotherham ate closing us down quickly he won't cope. Bring on Bishop.....patthegimp wrote: ↑Tue Jan 28, 2020 9:46 pmHuws needs off. There is definitely a second goal coming. Don't understand why he's not changing it before it happens.

This is awful. No passing worth talking about. Their press and physicality have ' discouraged' our players. Norwood on -at least he won't be discouraged. Bring on Bishop for god sake and Sears- nothing to lose

Other results going against us too. Wycombe, Posh and Pompey all winning at the mo and Coventry look like picking up a point. Down to 3rd as it stands.
Just disappointed we don’t appear to have really had a go at them even with so much at stake.

Outplayed, outfought and outthought. What an awful waste of a tenner. Still, onwards and upwards. Only Norris comes out with any credit today

Re: Rotherham United vs Ipswich Town Preview & Matchday Thread
Think Norwood should have been on at half time. Judge should have been off earlier. Really thought it was set up for Bishop to come on at the end in stead of Sears.
But in the end we were done by a very direct and physical team who fed off second balls from direct balls and long throw in’s. I have never seen so steeling yards from throw in some were over 10 yards.
Take it in chin move on.

God it was awful. Lucky it was only 1-0.
Men against boys. We knew they were big and physical... so why lump balls up to them? Rotherham were actually very good - they won the midfield battle and played the better football. They deserved to win 3-0., not 1-0. No game plan from us..... still kept hoping hoofing a ball would get us a break.
Kudos to Rotherham ... they played physical, but a far better team. We have a weak under belly when we get pressured.

Just hope we don’t have to play them in the play offs. We really need a proper target man to play off in games like this.

Absolute garbage from start to finish ! If it had been six we couldn't have complained. Tactics completely wrong all game and played to their strengths, just don't get the thinking, we turned up for the last 5 minutes and nearly committed daylight robbery, how that hit the inside of the post and bounced out god only knows. Terrible performance, worst this season.

Re: Rotherham United vs Ipswich Town Preview & Matchday Thread
That was only their 7th home win of the season, not sure why we paid them so much respect. Should have taken them on straight from the kick off with the ball on the ground. You can never play a large physical side with a long ball game.
Our poor results against the top teams continues and doesn’t bode well for Peterborough and Sunderland coming up next.

So fecking frustrating. Every time you think we are starting to make progress they then go and put in a crap performance.
Whether it is a attitude problem or a mental thing it really does need sorting and quickly.

Re: Rotherham United vs Ipswich Town Preview & Matchday Thread
Town have never been able to deal with a side that is physical and big. We just can5 deal with that style of football. I felt all along that we would get battered tonight, and sadly that’s been the case.
I don’t think it’s any coincidence that the divisions two most physical sides are occupying the top two positions. I feel it will be the play offs for us tbh.
And for the record, Lambert sates in his post match interview that it was definitely not our game plan to hoof it all night. I think we just couldn't match their power all over the pitch , and so our midfield wasn’t able to control the game. Our defenders were left with only one option as the ball was constant coming into our box in an aerial onslaught....hoof it away......!
Tbh , I seriously doubt we will beat any of the top six sides this season. We have a very soft underbelly when the crunch games come along, ( physically and mentally), and that’s also a Town trait over many a year, which is why we so often failed in play off games.
