Re: 20/21 FIXTURES
They’re all big games, but arguably waiting until November 3rd for first “big” game. (Omitting tomorrows Spurs game)
Didn’t realise Swindon were also going to be opponents along with shitty Crewe.
League and perhaps FA CUP to be taken seriously ..... All other competitions need very little attention. Play the 16’s. Might even win a few.
Objective must be Top two for automatic promotion. Got to be amongst that lot.

Re: 20/21 FIXTURES
What I noticed is that the first Tuesday League fixture is not till October 20th.
I thought they’d be squeezing in Tuesday league games from the off to catch up. I suppose they’re hoping that the Covid situation improves by Oct/Nov and crowds can then come back.

If we have a settled team, we don’t need the 16’s or 19’s - we can put out a cup team with nearly all senior fringe players who aren’t getting games.marko69 wrote: ↑Fri Aug 21, 2020 9:54 amThey’re all big games, but arguably waiting until November 3rd for first “big” game. A possible 8 games in both September and October that's not good even if we still have a big squad IMO.

Yep, hopefully that happens.tangfastic wrote: ↑Fri Aug 21, 2020 10:33 amIf we have a settled team, we don’t need the 16’s or 19’s - we can put out a cup team with nearly all senior fringe players who aren’t getting games.
Whatever needs to happen to avoid decent players being injured in League Cup or EFL Trophy games...... please do that, Lambert.
And there’s not going to be an issue with fans travelling hundreds of miles to witness “no effort” from Lambert & Co. Town being hammered 4-0 by Gooners U21s ain’t a problem. Town drawing 1-1 with Crewe is a serious problem ——> imo.

Tempted to bet on Crewe getting promotion.....marko69 wrote: ↑Fri Aug 21, 2020 10:58 amYep, hopefully that happens.tangfastic wrote: ↑Fri Aug 21, 2020 10:33 amIf we have a settled team, we don’t need the 16’s or 19’s - we can put out a cup team with nearly all senior fringe players who aren’t getting games.

Re: 20/21 FIXTURES
Best price at the moment is at 14/1 Andy. Crewe must be better than first thought. Would've guessed at 50/1 minimum.
Ipswich 6th favourites at 9/2.
Sunderland, Posh & Pompey top 3
Rochdale 66/1 outsiders.
Edit: Forgot about the "Odds" thread. It's all in there.

Re: 20/21 FIXTURES
Going to be tough isn't it. Face the fact we're not the caliber of old and third tier has simply become the clubs level. A number of opposition teams in it that will cause substantial obstacles if the team wishes to shoot for a promotion opportunity.
What's the Leasing Cup thing, that four team group stage event however realize it's not the League Cup as that's under (yet) another guise. Suppose initial games will be played out sans crowd and supporters present although guess they'll reintroduce it as the season progresses.
Guess the $64000 question presents itself as in will the team get a promotion this time around. Easy to be cynical and respond no although it's nowhere near a suitable time to be passing judgment. Could be a long hard season ahead although a handful of new kids brought in on loan may make a difference. Not going to make any impact in Cup participation therefore the league seems the be all and end all of the time ahead.

Re: 20/21 FIXTURES
we have a good chance to get off to a decent start and we need to make the most of it, gaining some early momentum is a must for us as we often seem mentally frail when not getting results.

Re: 20/21 FIXTURES
What If Covid does make come back again and there's another complete UK lock down, then i think that will just about F**k up everything, the Government cant afford to keep the furlough financing going, we are currently 2 £Trillion in debt and rising, if shops and businesses have to shut down, many football clubs will shut down completely, many millions will be out of work.
But on the bright side if every thing kicks off ok and fans are allowed to come back through the turn styles soon, things should look brighter.
And out of our first 8 League one games i would certainly expect at least 5 wins and a couple of draws, if not it will just confirm that Lambert hasn't got a clue of what team to select, and has not learnt a serious lesson from last seasons debacle showing an 11th place finish.

With any luck it will land on Norwich or Liverpool and do some improvements.marko69 wrote: ↑Sun Aug 23, 2020 1:53 pmThen asteroid hits November 2nd. Re: 20/21 FIXTURES
I agree Mike. I just hope PL keeps a settled side once he’s decided on his strongest 11.....but is he capable of doing this I wonder? Guess we’ll find out by Christmas .
