First half happy and confident, second half gills started playing and boy am i glad we got that goal. I think town deserved that, but not without a few scares!

We e made very hard work of this tonight. Need some of our supposedly first choice strikers back. We look so lightweight IMO .
But 3 points is 3 points I guess. 👍
We are lightweight. But we can't have it all ways really. If we want to play the youngsters we will be lightweight.

A very good first half when we could have scored a couple. It was likely to be different second half but I do think it showed he inexperience at the centre of defence.

No complaints from me. We won and we tried to play decent football. The goal took a long time to come but a sensible header from Edwards and an I by perfect pull back and a decent shot. It's good to win with a well worked goal.

I've no idea what back 4 is pick for Saturday. Despite his errors I think I'd bring Toto back in. But stoping him won't have helped his confidence.

Controlled the first half and created enough to go a goal up. Much more even second half we stopped passing and allowed Gillingham into the game. Change of tactics for them second half by pushing another player to make a front 3 to stop Dozzell getting on the ball. Dozzell could have seen red, lucky to get away with a yellow.

Great goal from Bishop after a good build up following a set piece by keeping the ball alive. McGuiness looks the real deal and looked a threat from set pieces.

3 points. Very open, but I’m not sure what both teams were up to. Did Lambo and Evo decide just decide before the games to go for it and forget tactics? I’m not sure it’s a typical League 1 game. Did Woolf and McGiuines play well or we weren’t tested? And the midfield was lightweight, but Gillingham weren’t either. Weird game. Not sure we could set up that way against Sunderland .... but 3 points. And a great goal from Bish.

Dozzell on 4 yellows after 9 games. First suspension likely in November.

He's not a great tackler. Mistimes or brings people down. Playing deep he gets yellows that you wouldn't get higher up the pitch. But they've all been deserved.

Made hard work of that for sure but deserved win all things considered. Should have been at least Two up at HT, second half was poor for 20 mins but then picked it up again. Sorry to say up but while most of our best chances fall to Sears we are doomed, our strikers are clueless when it comes to a goal threat.

I thought McGuinness was class and looks very good, Woolfy made a right howler but unlike Toto he got away with it. Bishop was good tonight and deserved his goal, Chambers too was very assured and Edwards very impressive. A vital Three points and the 100% home record intact without a goal conceded, still much room for improvement.

I was critical of Saturday's performance. Outplayed for 20 minutes and pretty even thereafter, we deserved to lose on balance even though the goal came late.

Tonight was the opposite. We dominated the first half and the second was more even. But on balance we deserved to win etc etc.

The defence looked suspect second half. Lankester did ok with one or two lovely passes but not his best position. I'd be tempted to play him and Edwards wide, Sears had another pretty poor game.

Just good to stop the rot. A much needed result. And can't believe how Chambers makes run after run down the line. Probably our most consistent player this season.

At least it’s 3 points in the bag, for any team to win promotion it’s average games like this when you have to pick up maximum points.

Only got score a moment ago been too busy to follow game progress. First and foremost it were essential the team returned to winning ways after the last two encounters. Four minutes away from a no score draw but Bishop rescued it and people will be relieved. Other scores at the top didn't go our way which is regrettable but the team is hanging in there and that late strike could make all the difference at the business end of season.

We had 80 per cent possession to their 20 stats mention and far outweighed them in terms of chances created so they can't complain about the eventual loss. Would have liked to caught the final moments as the goal went in but the team won, that's all important.

Next month is a really important one for us SJ, we only have three games, one fewer than most of our rivals but two of them are against Sunderland (a) and Hull City at Portman Road. If we’re still in the Top 6 going into November I think we have every reason to feel good.

Results weren't a total disaster, Peterborough and Sunderland dropped points while Doncaster lost again.

Clearly didn’t watch the first half
Quote from Steve Evans:

“The best team lost by some distance, second half it was one-way traffic....and I think they got some help with the referee’s decisions.”

Is there somewhere a football handbook designed just for Glaswegian managers on how to accept defeat?

I thought Gillingham were the worst side we faced in the first half this season. I’m still trying to work out how much we can take out of that game to see where we’re at. Happy to take the three points, but should have won that game easily in the first half. Strangely, a little disappointed that Gillingham didn’t test us more - especially the young CB partnership. I have a feeling a strong, physical, well drilled team will take that lightweight midfield apart and put the young CB’s under a lot more pressure.
I think Huws needs to come into the midfield for the Crewe game. I’m assuming Lambert will stick with both Woolf and McGuinness next game and they’re likely to be tested more.

I can’t stand that Gillingham manager . He has Sunday morning league level written all over him . Utter prat and as you say tang can’t take defeat graciously.

I think Town struggle when opponents get amongst us high up the pitch and don’t allow us to do our tippy tally o POI adding out from the back. But teams can only do it for so long as it takes a lot of effort to press that high . Gills appear to have taken the decision to do it in the second half.

I’ll say again , we have so many injuries that winning the game is a bonus perhaps . But it seems to be a season issue with our Club . Hopefully we’ll get some of the usual first teamers back soon.

I hate Evans too but to be fair a lot of so called Town fans will have failed to see the first half and will also spew out similar ridiculous comments

The first half was one of the most one-sided I've ever seen. The man is a complete arse.

Don't expect an opposition manager to give an honest opinion about the game, especially when he's just lost. His job is to keep his players motivated.

I have to admit I find some of Evans’ comments amusing and especially his rift with Lambert.

Privately they knew they had a battering. But we will listen to the Lambert boy saying they were brilliant again. He said it on Saturday (after losing to Lincoln 1-0) but I know a lot of Ipswich fans. I watched it as well. They were very poor. They weren’t so good tonight (Tuesday).

Bit disappointed that the Lambert boy was not on the touch line last night and not able to have some handbags with Evans.

Made me chuckle. He needs to keep up though as he missed out the I’ve played for some big clubs. 😂
