I'm afraid that third tier football means 3rd tier refs. Moral of the story - dont get relegated to the third tier
Thats just stupid thing to say

But probably true, although handball decisions have been contentious at all levels of football this season with some ridiculous decisions seen.

How can that possibly be true. We get cheated out of this match by a sh*t ref and its because we got relegated 2 seasons ago. What bollocks

Forget about the result. For 55 minutes we have been the better sides. It's not often I say that referees cost us the game but the sending off and penalty were terrible decisions.

Overall I am pleased with our performance.

Football officially died for me tonight. How can anyone possibly say we gained some kind of advantage from that clearance? f**king joke.

Looks like all the decisions have gone against us tonight . What a surprise/ not!

NB if it’s any consolation Sunderland beat Wycombe 4-1 last season , and we all know who went up !

Totally pissed off but over a season it balances out I guess. 3 points last Saturday we didn't deserve. And tonight we deserved at least a point.

You miss the point completely. Point being that there are only so many good refs to go around, so it stands to reason that the lower you go, division-wise, the lower the standard of refereeing will be. What part of that is so difficult for you to comprehend?

Terrible decision. I don’t get why a referee would give that one.

Lambert can rant as much as he wants and fair play... get Mike Jones on the phone straightaway.

Exactly the point I’m agreeing with No1, many League 1 referee’s are sh*t because the better refs operate in the Premier League and Championship, get relegated to League 2 and the refs will be another level poorer, it’s just the way it is.

Independent Comment....

Sunderland lead 10-man Ipswich
League One latest

Grant Leadbitter has put Sunderland 2-1 up on Ipswich from the penalty spot, after the ball struck Mark McGuinness' arm in the area. There was nothing McGuinness could do... That feels a bit harsh again on the visitors who went down to 10 men just 12 minutes earlier.....

Can not believe what I have just witnessed from the ref, lost for words. I initially thought Dozzell had been Fouled. As for the pen decision, I’ve never seen anything like it in 42 years of football.

Bishop was unplayable at times, thought the whole team put a shift in. Lankester getting stronger each week. Didn’t think it was a foul on Lankester for the pen shout appeared to already be on his way down.

Nice sarcasm, thanks for that, sorry if ive offended by calling bullshit. I have no trouble to comprehend the fact thats refs in league 1 may not be up to a certain standard but to say its our fault for getting relegated 2 seasons ago is just childish rossi.

The positives:

Apart from the first goal, the defence looked good.
Nsiala came back and was excellent.
It was good to see us turn it round. A goal down, struggling. ...and then being the better side for the majority of the game.
Bishop running at them.

The negatives:

2 very poor decisions.
Bad choice playing Jackson as a lone striker.

I have to say as much as I really like Dozzell, 5 yellows and a red suggest there's something wrong with his challenges.

I Prefer Jackson over Hawkins away from home. With Hawkins no threat in behind. We miss a fully fit Norwood.

Now I've calmed down, on a positive note I think we'll be just fine this season, certainly better than Sunderland and if its true what they say about luck evening itself out we are owed a few already.

Agree with all of that, I'm gutted but we played much better than I thought we would so onwards and upwards plenty of games left.

It would be nice to see Dobra given a chance now with Dozzell out and Judge being ineffective. Will it happen?

I’m seriously wondering if these ref decisions tonight are involved in some form of betting scam! They were THAT bad , what else could it be.

The pen decision

it looks like McGuiness is hit in the face by the ball. Shocking.

Was skeptical and had concerns of the game official before play and was not disappointed. Viewed highlights a moment ago and lo and behold it were an amateur performance from the "man" supposed to be in charge. Penalty decision was horseshit, it's not as if the referee could have been swayed by any home support (inside a substantially large venue) : as there were no freakin' crowd or home attendance to be had. Simply made a number of fundamental errors with that and the sending off which cost us points. Not going to berate the kid further, no doubt he's got his share from Town fans wherever you find them.

Other scores didn't go our way at the top - nothing new - but once again despite the inefficiencies of today the team remains in a healthy place to challenge. There's a lot on at the moment besides the game that requires a certain amount of focus but here at least the team seemed good enough to leave Wearside if only a more competent name had been given the task of overseeing matters. Disappointed but we move on to the next challenge and realize we got the time and home momentum to carry the team forward.

I cannot believe this Sunderland manager. He is saying Mark McGuinness made out the ball hit him in his face!!! He also said Dozell foot went over the ball, seriously man don't be a d*ck

https://www.safc.com/news/team-news/202 ... swich-town

Seriously OK Phil, your Sunderland won the game through very poor decisions but say it, don't go around trying to make out Sunderland are world beaters !! He
