Jan 2021 Transfer Window
Not sure what to think of this. I mean, who could we add that fits the salary cap mold and who could depart?

Re: Jan 2021 Transfer Window
There’s talk of getting a young Barnsley winger, Luke Thomas, on loan. Think he’d be under 21 and so not be under the salary cap. Could do with some pace and trickery on the wing.
Sounds like wed have to offload or not include a senior player/s before we can bring someone in. Maybe Donacien. He’s a sound versatile player, but rarely makes the 18. I think some clubs would be interested in him - maybe a lower L1 side or a L2 side.
Or do we really put faith in Skuse by keeping him as a player? He must be in his last season and his fitness must be a worry at his age. Might be better to make space by not including him in the squad.

Re: Jan 2021 Transfer Window
Personally i do not see a great deal happening regarding incomings.
One thing which has suddenly struck me by El Mizouni's return; As an U21, he does not count as part of our salary cap. Are we looking to off load a senior midfielder? In effect this could allow some room for a possible low cost signing?

I wonder how many thought of Judge or Huws when reading this line?AzzurroMark wrote: ↑Mon Jan 04, 2021 7:50 pmAre we looking to off load a senior midfielder? In effect this could allow some room for a possible low cost signing?

That’s the problem. Who’d want them? And who could maybe afford their wages? I think they’re high earners.number 9 wrote: ↑Mon Jan 04, 2021 7:59 pmI wonder how many thought of Judge or Huws when reading this line?AzzurroMark wrote: ↑Mon Jan 04, 2021 7:50 pmAre we looking to off load a senior midfielder? Re: Jan 2021 Transfer Window
If we let them go for free, at least we wouldn't have to pay their wages. I'm not sure what the contract clauses are, but letting them go may benefit us financially in the long run.

They’re contracted until the end of the season. They’d have to agree to leave and why would they go for less money?

Re: Jan 2021 Transfer Window
Just curious if there's some kind of early release clause in the contract...probably not. Also, you mentioned Skuse. To be honest, I'd give him 3 games before he's injured again anyway.tangfastic wrote: ↑Mon Jan 04, 2021 8:55 pmThey’re contracted until the end of the season. Re: Jan 2021 Transfer Window
But with contracts which are expiring at the end of the season, surely some sort of negotiations are taking place? Player Agents always seem keen to get those wheels rolling, so surely if the club have shown no intent in making an offer then Agents will start putting their client's name out there in the hope a deal can be found ahead of the season end. The club must have to plan for a "worst case scenario" and in doing so telling players who they do not want to keep on (or can't afford to) that there will be no offer made?tangfastic wrote: ↑Mon Jan 04, 2021 8:15 pmThat’s the problem. Re: Jan 2021 Transfer Window
Possibly. But what with all the COVID uncertainty and the new salary cap/squad size restrictions - would they want to leave any kind of security? There’s going to be a lot of unemployed footballers with the new regs. And Judge is getting plenty of game-time. He’s made the second most appearances after Chambers. Lambert seems to rate him.AzzurroMark wrote: ↑Mon Jan 04, 2021 9:01 pmBut with contracts which are expiring at the end of the season, surely some sort of negotiations are taking place? But as you say, maybe they’re is talk behind the scenes. I think Donacien is more likely to leave as he hardly makes a squad.

Donacien, Wilson, Folami and Cotter are certs to go for me, I also think we will definitely lose Edwards at some point. Skuse will be gone as a player in the summer too.

Re: Jan 2021 Transfer Window
apologies, 9.
just managed to catch wee Jimmy Krankie Sturgeon on the telly-box talking about January 2021 being FKN OVER!!! ........, needed to cheer ma'self up. Two randoms with no facemasks transferring a window was just the tonic.

Ipswich Town's general manager of football operations, Lee O'Neill, says the main focus of this January transfer window is to add some creativity to the squad.

How about playing Natasha Thomas from the Womens team upfront Now that's thinking out of the box 9 goals already this season....
Creativity to the squad for sure.

Re: Jan 2021 Transfer Window
Stuart Taylor teased us at the pre-match press conference saying that there could be an imminent signing.
The EADT crew believe this to be Luke Thomas, the young Barnsley winger. And it looks very likely he’ll sign. Although, as ever, Sunderland are linked. Loan, I would presume. Sounds like he’s a Gwion Edwards type of player. We definitely need some pace and trickery down the wing. He apparently had a decent loan spell with Coventry in L1 a couple of seasons ago which got him a 1.2 million move to Barnsley.

Re: Jan 2021 Transfer Window
Once he’s signed in the dotted line I wonder what will come first . CoVid or an injury ? And assuming he survives that maybe Shambert will then play him in goal ?

I was thinking if we sign Luke Thomas does this allow PL to play Edwards out of position so making him useless again ?

Is it possible that there has been interest in Edwards and he is on the way out?

Whether there is foundation to this rumour, would be a good move for the club. Do you think we could offload Judge to them as well?hallamblue wrote: ↑Mon Jan 11, 2021 10:50 amRumours on twtd that Sears could be going on loan to Col Ewe?
