shame we didn't go for Heston Blumenthal or Anthony Worall-Thompson.......
It'd need to be Gordon if the club go down that route.

I honestly hadn't even heard of Paul Cook before I posted a list of available managers......
Same.
Think it's just that no one gives a crap about the particular clubs he's been at. He has no doubt done a great job......., but Wigan? Seriously, who gives a sh*t? And thats why people haven't heard of him. Chesterfield? Jaysus H, who?
But as said....., he's done a job and good on him. Just feckn continue that glowing managerial nous at Ipswich Town FC. That'd be great.

Gary "Diving Cheat" Roberts, as first team coach, FFS! Ah well we might get a few more penalties under his tutelage.

But Wigan? They’ve been in the PL league pretty recently. And won the FA Cup. Same as Pompey. They’ve both reached far higher places than us in the last 15-20 years.
I think when we were looking for a manager after Mick left, Cook’s name was mentioned, but he’d just got Wigan promoted to the Championship and his stock was probably too high for us. He could be seen as rich man’s Paul Hurst. That’s unfair because he’s seemed to be around for a lot longer than Hurst and slowly upgrading on his club - without getting fired and being pretty successful it has to be said. Maybe he’s clever at taking the right jobs as his CV’s pretty good. He got Chesterfield promoted to L1 and then went back down to L2 with Pompey .. and then got them promoted. Moved on kind of sideways to Wigan and got them promoted to the Championship. Did a great job with Wigan in the Championship when the club was having lots of financial difficulties... he came out from their relegation with a lot of kudos. He looks like a bloke who selects his next job with a lot of thought. He apparently turned down the Cardiff and Sheffield Wed in the last couple of months. Bloody surprised he hasn’t been snapped up by a championship club.

Think the point was lost there, Tang. Great achievements but done at clubs (I'd think) no one gives two hoots about and hence, like 9, why they've never heard of Cook.
Wigan & Hull......, 4th division clubs to the 50 and overs. Were NEVER in a panini album!

And a team who can’t kick a ball with their right foot. I’m surprised at the career he’s had really. He’s done better than I thought he would - but that’s not uncommon with Ipswich

Too fkn right!
My 77 year old mother, (she ain't got saggy balls)..... was washing my Ipswich shirts when she was 35 years old. The club are even a part of her life. Even to this day, she still can't say it, but asks....., "How are that Swipswich team you like doing? Or whatever they are called?"
"They SUCK MA!" Run out the room crying. Takes her back to those days though.

Can only really say a sort of muted “yay!”
Last time a guy took over with largely lower league experience, it ended with Ipswich Towns worst run of defeats in its history.
On his side though, 100%, giving him FULL backing ....... but let’s see results, Cookie.
Not just another Paul, but another ex Wolf, Third time luck eh,

fingers and every thing else crossed he comes good, lucky we got him away from Norwich in the nick of time, plus it looks like that pint you owe me could be just around the corner, unless we pass the Town going the other way lol

Did anyone see him shouting and getting really involved from the stand last night ?
Just what the players need.
John, I’m sure you’ll be just fine, and it’ll be a fair few years I think before Town will be on the verge of rubbing shoulders with the PL boys. But at least there’s hope now and we’re looking UP , not down.
Ps: can anyone remind me where Matt Gill came from when Lambert recruited him to the Club.,

Love this. Didn’t see the game and yet to see highlights but nothing at all wrong with overly excited managers. It’s the main reason I like the marmite that is Neil Warnock. (<<— great manager)
Looking forward to seeing Cookie getting animated on the touchline. Also nothing wrong with players hearing some truths in public. NOT a problem with that.
At sub time:
“Get down that fkn tunnel, get out my sight.”
Norwood: “But......”
“But fk all, get out. Penalty taking disaster area.”
And then....... Norwood gets better. Tough love.
I’m a Paul Cook fan now.
Darts guy voice:

Yes, yes I know, Saint, nothing of significance has “occurred” yet, but f*ck it, ..... being positive.

I can’t believe I followed that game last night with no idea we had a new manager confirmed in post, that’ll teach me for putting golf in front of footie yesterday.
I wish Paul Cook well, clearly he’s been lined up for a while whilst the owners (whoever they might be) have been getting their ducks lined up in a row. I’m not sure he’d have been on my short list, but sometimes I just forget how far we’ve fallen and can’t really think of anyone better who we could attract given our current status and situation.
Let’s hope he can build on three straight wins and give the guys some clear direction and motivation to bridge the gap between us and the league front runners. He most certainly inherits a better situation than he would have a few weeks ago.

Any doubts I had about Cook were dispelled a short time ago when I saw him on Look East. He's a proper scally scouser isn't he & very funny & personable. I took to him immediately.
Good luck Mr Cook.

Totally with Billy here.
It's so refreshing even though very early days but hear a manager laughing and smiling as well as being so positive.
Just hoping he'll get the backing he is wanting
Welcome to Ipswich Paul, the very best of luck to you and all your staff. Thinking, you'll need it!!
