23 goals for Fleetwood in 134 starts plus 42 sub appearances. I'm seriously underwhelmed. If this is the height of our ambition, God help us.Kerry Blue wrote: ↑Thu Jun 03, 2021 1:07 pmThat looks a good first signing to me go certainly played well against us and is a good age

He’s not a central striker though Gary, he’s either a right back or right wing back. He can take on opponents and beat them and has a good goal ratio for that position. He makes beating players look easy , certainly better than Edwards ( who I know isn’t a right back), but both player work along that right touch line.rossi wrote: ↑Thu Jun 03, 2021 1:26 pm23 goals for Fleetwood in 134 starts plus 42 sub appearances. Re: Paul Cooks 1st Transfer Window rumour thread.
Would make sense
Can’t rely on KVY to stay fit, so need an attacking back up full-back. That’s not Donacien and if he goes the other way in part-exchange, then good business. He looked good against us, albeit only in the second half.

Yes, I'm not sure Burns is the type of striker we are hoping for. As Mike says, hopefully Cook's thinking RB for Burns if indeed the link is fact. According to Cook, It looks like we'll primarily be recruiting from Portsmouth, Bristol City and Wigan.23 goals for Fleetwood in 134 starts plus 42 sub appearances. I'm seriously underwhelmed. I don’t think a striker is what it used to be. He’s a RB /RWB/ winger.number 9 wrote: ↑Thu Jun 03, 2021 4:22 pmYes, I'm not sure Burns is the type of striker we are hoping for. First signing under Ashton- but it’s young Alfie Cutbush signing his first pro deal.
There’s been a lot of talk of needing hairy-arsed blokes, but not sure Cutbush fits the mould. Maybe he has Brazilian heritage.

"Gutted! Good luck Wes.. absolute class.

"Absolutely gutted!!!"
"Best player at Fleetwood for me, hard working."
"Superb player, firm fan favourite for years, quick, skillful, can finish as well. Always grafts 100% will be massively missed"
"excellent player mate majority of the fans devastated to see him leave"
Some comments from the Fleetwood Fans, seems he is highly regarded there. 'hard working' was a good thing to see.

It’s very encouraging to hear those comments from the Fleetwood fans about Burns! I think I’ll just suck my thumb after the next acquisition. Cook and company definitely seem to know what they’re doing.

Seems the days of endless useless rumours and protracted negotiations followed by no signing are finally over.
How ridiculous the situation was under Evans for so long eh !

Good to see, but I think we’ll still have plenty of dud transfer rumours flying around this summer. It does feel things have been happening quietly behind the scenes and now they’re being completed.
Don’t know much about Evans - but obviously Cook knows him well. Had a promotion under Cook. Is a deep lying midfielder, I believe. A replacement for Downes or Dozzell?

Re: Paul Cooks 1st Transfer Window rumour thread.
Nice, very impressed how silently and quickly we have moved for these 2, I think he was out of contract too so a free.
He was on 6k a week so I imagine he will be on at least that here, but still not a fortune etc. Cook no doubt trusts him, hopefully we are bringing in players with the right attitude and that will help lead others. If we can get a core of hard working players along with a bit of talent then it should be a good mix, the hard working ones helping to keep the talented ones in line etc.
Really exciting to get 2 signings done already! When are the pre season fixtures announced, I'll try and make some this year.

Re: Paul Cooks 1st Transfer Window rumour thread.
Well, it says on TWTD that he's a right-sided forward OR a wing back. So I can see value as a squad member, but the phrase 'Jack of all trades, master of none' springs to mind. That said, the Fleetwood fans seem genuinely sorry to see him go, so maybe my feeling of being underwhelmed will be proven to be entirely unfounded, hope so.hallamblue wrote: ↑Thu Jun 03, 2021 3:39 pmHe’s not a central striker though Gary, he’s either a right back or right wing back. Not being rude mate but who do you have in mind that would not leave you underwhelmed?rossi wrote: ↑Fri Jun 04, 2021 10:32 amWell, it says on TWTD that he's a right-sided forward OR a wing back. These players have been singled out with the team building idea to the front, it might be better to have this type than big time charlies coming to do us a favour.

Yes I suppose we will have plenty of dud rumours, because agents will be trying to jump on the bandwagon won’t they.
I’m not sure now, if these players are seen as replacements for our younger players. I wonder if Cook wants to try and keep the likes of Downes, Dozzell and Woolfie etc and integrate them with the new signings , who I feel have a stronger presence than our players. But perhaps mixing them together in a new smaller squad, will help bring them on and drag them up to the new recruits level. Of course if a Club comes in with a decent offer for any of our players then I’m sure we’d get a good price for them now under Ashton...that’s the way of football, and maybe we might finally start getting the true value for our academy players again.
On the point about Evans, I can vaguely remember him playing for Sheffield Utd, and he’s got a helluva shot on him and is a real presence in midfield. Something we currently do not have . So if we do finally sign him , that’s a helluva signing at this level IMo.
