Re: EURO 2020 / 2021 CHAT
I don't see a problem against the Germans, as long as......
1) we go out and play with a positive attitude/tactics rather than negative as we have done thus far
2) we play at the pace of a Premier League game rather than try to copy the more slow build up play as employed on the continent
3) we move the ball forward, rather than the constant backwards and sideways passing (a la Skuse)
Surely that's not too much to ask?

We’ve got the players to do that . But we have appeared by and large very pedestrian in many of the group games .

Was going to give this game a miss but the temptation was to great when a ticket became available on the UEFA website.

G&B. Usually get my tickets through the supporters travel club but on this occasion as I had not applied for the last 16 game which was originally due to be played in Dublin I couldn’t be considered for a ticket issued by them.goldandblack wrote: ↑Sun Jun 27, 2021 6:39 pmShed on tour wrote: ↑Sun Jun 27, 2021 1:06 pm4) Don’t let it go to penalties.rossi wrote: ↑Sun Jun 27, 2021 9:37 amI don't see a problem against the Germans, as long as......

UEFA have been selling tickets on their website but usually by the time you have logged in they have gone. Yesterday morning the boss in the household just went on the website to see if there was any available and some just suddenly appeared. Quickly put my card details in and to my astonishment got one.
If England did get to the final I would be a guaranteed a ticket as I applied through the supporters club and have enough loyalty points (known as caps) to get one.

Back in the 1966 finals, me and my mate looked into getting tickets for England at the Wembley games.
the format was, you had to enter a draw for 3 tickets in the qualifying round and if won the tickets could have been for any 3 games, so a chance of not watching England at all. (you did have to give them your preferred games)
then you automatically went into a draw for the next round and so on until the final.
Anyway i decided i wasn't paying good money to watch, France, Mexico or Uruguay play each other so i didn't bother.
My mate got his and they were for all the England games, he got tickets for every England match including the Semi, and the Final.
was i gutted and still have flash backs LOL.

Lol. My first England game was in 1967 a friendly against the USSR at Wembley. Ended up 2-2, Bell and Peters scored for England.goldandblack wrote: ↑Sun Jun 27, 2021 8:06 pmWell Done mate, great to see proper fans getting the tickets,Shed on tour wrote: ↑Sun Jun 27, 2021 7:28 pmG&B. Because of COVID and the restrictions the atmosphere at the 3 group games have seemed subdued compared to other tournaments I’ve attended. Even the Scotland game didn’t seem the same.
The tournament I enjoyed most was the 2006 World Cup in Germany. They were fantastic hosts and I will never forget the group game against Sweden in Cologne when there were about 50,000 England fans in the city although our official allocation of tickets was less than 10,000.
Remember driving back in our hire car from Gelsenkirchen to Hannover airport after we lost to Portugal in the quarter-final feeling more pissed off because we were leaving Germany than by Ronaldo’s wink when Rooney got sent off.

Re: EURO 2020 / 2021 CHAT
Same year as my first England game Shed, mine was April 1967 v Scotland when we lost 2-3 at Wembley, our first defeat after winning the World Cup.
I’ve only been to one England v West Germany game and that was in October 1982 when we lost 1-2. England team included two Town players Terry Butcher and Paul Mariner.
My most recent was Spain v England in Seville in October 2018 which we won 3-2 with goals two goals from Raheem Sterling and another from Marcus Rashford. We were 3-0 at HT and this was England’s first win in Spain for 31 years. Just the sort of performance we need tomorrow night.

Re: EURO 2020 / 2021 CHAT
Anyone ever done that before? Remember being in goals during a 5's tournament, must've been 1994 ish....., ball passed back to me....., was looking at the guy running up the wing, fresh aired it, ball rolled in. You really feel like a proper d!ck. To do it in front of thousands must feel horrendous.

Re: EURO 2020 / 2021 CHAT
That was the 9th own goal of the tournament so far, more than the total own goals in the history of the Euro’s.
Could this have something to do with the number of back passes ?

Charny if I had known you were in Seville for that game we could have met up for a drink. Thing I remember most about that day is how hard it rained in the afternoon. We stepped out of our apartment and was soaked before we had gone a few yards up the road.Charnwood wrote: ↑Mon Jun 28, 2021 4:51 pmSame year as my first England game Shed, mine was April 1967 v Scotland when we lost 2-3 at Wembley, our first defeat after winning the World Cup.

A missed opportunity that was Shed .... as best I recall the largest gathering of England fans were in the uncovered upper tier at the end adjacent to the goal where all five goals were scored. Luckily I think the rain stopped before kick off.
Our biggest problem was getting back into the City after the game because taxi drivers and buses all stopped operating following fan trouble in the city on the day of the game.

Putting it like that, if any of those teams can concede 3 goals then there is always hope! Re: EURO 2020 / 2021 CHAT
Having had visitors for the past 10 days today has been the first time I’ve been able to sit and watch full 90min games other than England v Croatia, Czech Rep and Scotland. What a day to pick, 14 goals so far and still a further 15 mins to play. Somehow I simply can’t imagine England v Germany being so entertaining, I hope not I don’t think I could stand it.
I can’t believe my luck picking these two games to start my viewing.
