The point is they would have developed far more here and actually played games, instead they pick up the big bucks , stagnate and just fade away. Gibbs will probably do the same.

Re: Paul Cooks 1st Transfer Window rumour thread.
Mike, I hear what you say but I very much doubt they are stagnating at their new clubs. They will be enjoying some of the best coaching and development available to young players on the planet. They might have got more chance to play in 1st team games with us but this may not be the best thing at this stage in their development. Let's agree to see where they are in 3 years ok?

Ashton in the EADT saying he wants at least 5 more players.

Re: Paul Cooks 1st Transfer Window rumour thread.
I like this guy Ashton and the way he speaks. It seems like we are talking to dozens of players in our quest to bring in at least five more. I couldn't agree more with him when he says these goons who post transfer targets on social media etc are actually harming the club and potentially jeopardising the deal.

Re: Paul Cooks 1st Transfer Window rumour thread.
His interview gives a really good insight into how a properly run club gets its business done ….” 4 players for every position being sought at any one time “…. Bloody hell!
Ashton is the dogs do daaas for sure , and I’d say every single person recruited for this club had been scrutinised in the same way players are . We’re a properly run club now !!

I do think it’s odd that he’s mentioning supposedly In The Know fans who jeopardise deals. It’s in the agent’s interest to spread the word about their players. They surely pass on info to journalists and others in the business. I would have thought it’s standard in the transfer world. If a fan doesn’t leak something, then someone else will. I’m sure he’s ok with Bishop being linked with a few clubs as it drives up the interest and the price. Swings and roundabouts.

It is indeed the way it works, I think all he is trying to say is that it makes the task that much harder.

Re: Paul Cooks 1st Transfer Window rumour thread.
It does make you wonder where these leaks come from.
If they are within the club - then who? There can’t be that many people who know about these discussions outside Ashton/Cook. Maybe some admin people or those involved on the recruitment side. A limited group who you’d think must have been told to keep their mouths shut. If these staff talk too much and stuff gets out, surely these people would know they would come under suspicion.
I think it’s agents or interested parties feeding select ‘fans’ with info who they know will blurt this stuff on forums.

None of the Paul Cook 'bomb squad' - Downes, Bishop, Jackson and Kenlock - are involved in either halfs starting line up. A very youthful line up for second half has given a very damning verdict on the above 4 player's chances this season.

We're playing a game today ? Yes took in a view of TWTD and we put out a side at Dartford, a 1 - 0 victory. OK it's an inferior opposition and slimAzzurroMark wrote: ↑Sat Jul 10, 2021 2:24 pmNone of the Paul Cook 'bomb squad' - Downes, Bishop, Jackson and Kenlock - are involved in either halfs starting line up. victory but a win all the same. Whoever we fielded out there was never going to give 100 per cent for a first friendly in a close-season.
Viewed the starting squad and names assembled, they put out a different team for each period. Don't really recognize the goalscorer Chirewa, must have missed the first team. We got Bury in mid-week, thought they'd ceased to exist or got into some financial trouble some time back but you take each game that comes along.

Wow. He would be my pick of a striker over the likes of Wyke, etc. at this level. Fingers crossed and I’m wondering if that would mean an exit for Norwood.hallamblue wrote: ↑Mon Jul 12, 2021 4:31 pmTown apparently Clise to signing Piggott from AFC Wimbledon

No I think Cook actually rates Norwood. But It’s definitely curtains for “ I can run fast”, Jackson.tangfastic wrote: ↑Mon Jul 12, 2021 4:52 pmWow. Cook’s pretty much a 4-2-3-1 man- not sure those three would fit into one side. Not complaining. Still need a number 10, proper wideman, maybe a LB plus 1/2 experienced CB’s. Still a lot of work to do for Ashton.hallamblue wrote: ↑Mon Jul 12, 2021 4:57 pmJust imagine that front of Bonne, Norwood, Piggott …., goals for fun eh

Confirmed.

That was a under-the-radar deal. Not even a sniff of a Twitter rumour.

Get in!!! Smashing signing and for those who say we can't compete and are missing out on our primary targets, we've just beaten championship clubs to this signing, not to mention fellow big League One sides, Ashton looks a bloody diamond right now.

Re: Paul Cooks 1st Transfer Window rumour thread.
Thing is the calibre of this type of signing will be making other potential targets sit up and take our aims/ goals seriously n9w and not just flannel to try and get 5hem to sign. The ball is most definitely picking up momentum now. I get the feeling the recent couple of other decent names we’ve been linked to just might happen now.

Another big unit. On all these signings, the player usually towers over Ashton in the photo.
Ashton was apparently a youth goalkeeper for West Brom - must have modelled himself on Laurie Sivell.
Can’t see us getting bullied like we have in the past. Really like this signing.

Re: Paul Cooks 1st Transfer Window rumour thread.
Really impressed, as others have said we are so signing the best we can realistically expect in this league / under then budget requirements. Highly rated players who have performed in the league.
Huge respect for the board as they don’t even have their full blown recruitment team in place yet either.
I do also wonder how these will all fit in, seems three players for one position.
I imagine it’s a case of quality over quantity now, be ace to get a top Center back and a creative playmaker/winger type.
Fantastic and adds more excitement for the season ahead! Can’t wait to see these boys in action.

Downes to Bournemouth?
https://www.eadt.co.uk/sport/ipswich-t ... es-8139944
You’d think we’d be able to get a better price for Downes there than Barnsley and Posh. And a good move for Downes if it comes off.
Need to get these bomb squad players out of the door as well bringing others in. Cook might say the door is still open, but it’s best we part company.

Your right we need to get them out I think it's a pity to lose Downes a Brentwood boy who has been at Town since he was 8 but it's necessary, I think he will become a very good player I just hope we get good money for him.tangfastic wrote: ↑Tue Jul 13, 2021 6:39 amDownes to Bournemouth?
