Were a true enthusiast for Everton for some near 40 years but were about as Scouse as Joan Rivers. It's a stereotype BB, areas of the land where perceived attitudes prevail. Anyone west of Peterborough imagines East Anglia as part of the Netherlands, full of laid-back yokels and farmhands where electricity and 21st Century standard hasn't yet been fully implemented. You get the idea.

Looking forward to later today, may just get involved while time permits it. Both Cook and Cowley are under pressure and feeling the heat, victories are pivotal. We don't always get the result we should against this opposition and if it were a Cup game would suggest we'd be beaten before even underway but the league should provide a route to something more substantial.

I don't feel good about this game at all. I think it may be a high scorer...not in our favour. Portsmouth 4 v ITFC 1.

Maybe I’m being overly optimistic but I feel very much the opposite, much more so than I would be if David Nugent was still playing, and whilst I accept we may not win I’m not expecting to see us played off the park.

I’m not trying to be overly optimistic as well, but we are the League’s highest scorers at the moment.

Yes, I know …. We leak goals and can’t hold onto a lead. The table tells a story.

Looking back a year….. the football was so pedantic and sideways and dull… BUT we had plenty of bodies back to defend because we never really had a attacking mentality. Don’t think we’ve prioritised on the defence as we should have, but at least now we can score. Not sure….. but is it harder for a brand new squad to score goals than not concede them? What’s easier to put right? Tightening up the defence or creating and scoring goals? I don’t know and I have no clue how this will turn out tonight, but at least we can score goals. That gives us a chance in every game.
Head says a draw, but heart says a scouse win. Cowleys will come back to the car park after the game and see their car’s sitting on breeze blocks.

Whilst our recent history suggests a home win here and a defence that seldom fails to disappoint suggesting to me at least a two goal margin of defeat, something is compelling me to watch this game on I-follow. While an away win could be pushing it, i just feel we will not lose tonight! (But don't tell my alter-ego who voted for a home win 2 days ago! ).

Bring Toto in and with any luck Coulsen and I would say we'd have a much better chance of getting something from this, Wes Burns has to return too, best player all season. I would also go with Harper in alongside Morsy instead of Evans or El Mizouni.

It makes a pleasant change to have so many options Mike, but maybe there in lies the problem, albeit a nice problem to have.

Toto’s in for Burgess. Evans for El Mizouni. Edwards in for Fraser. Oh… and Walton in for Hladky.

Aluko keeps his place. Barry on the subs bench. No Norwood….. so wonder if rumours he’s had a fall-out are true.

Town: Walton, Donacien, Edmundson, Nsiala, Penney, Morsy (C), Evans, Aluko, Chaplin, Edwards, Bonne. -

Subs: Hladky, Burgess, Harper, El Mizouni, Burns, Celina, Barry.

Good to see Nsiala back in and believe it sends the right message to players underperforming or making mistakes , in this case Burgess.

So pleased to see Toto back in, Chaplin keeping his place is good too, not sure about Walton, he looked poor on his debut and conceded Five, not all his fault though. Would still like to see Burns in from the start but I guess Aluko earned his place tonight. Not disappointed at Fraser dropping out, not done much for me, also pleased to see Edwards ahead of Celina.

I won’t be surprised if we’re playing 10 men in the second half.

Walton has hardly inspired confidence so far. Ball up in air too much and feel we have lost our way a bit, without being troubled .

He certainly looks shaky clearing his lines, especially his kicking.

We look much better going forward than we do defending. I can’t believe how much space we’re giving them.

Just wonder if Pompey can keep up their work rate of closing down though / they’re working very hard to put that pressure on us at the back
