Not surprised I read he wanted a 3 year deal we offered 2, I'm not worried as although he was great for us last season he did worry me at times when punching rather than catching the ball, let's hope we get someone in soon, I wish him well.

Re: Transfer Rumours - New Signings for Towns Premier League Squad 2024/25
I think it’s been on the cards for a while that Hladky was ready to move on. He’s almost 34 and after such a great season last year he wants to capitalise on it and secure first team football which he’s unlikely to get at Portman Road and I think he knows that. Had we not been promoted I think he’d have been happy to stay but he probably knows himself he’s not good enough to be first choice keeper in the Premier League. Unfortunately whilst he’s a brilliant shot stopper he makes far too many mistakes which he often got away with in the Championship but won’t in the Premier League where the game is much quicker.
Of course bring out of contract means he’ll be able to secure a much better contract for himself which he thoroughly deserves. We owe it to him too as without him last season I’m not sure we’d have won promotion.
I wish him well and scorch him to secure a good move wherever he goes.

Talk that Rodon is heading back to Leeds on a permanent basis as part of a deal taking Archie Gray to Spurs.

That would be disappointing for us but a great coup for Leeds United. Not sure why he would choose Championship football over Premier League especially with their threat of a points deduction penalty.Shed on tour wrote: ↑Mon Jul 01, 2024 11:25 amTalk that Rodon is heading back to Leeds on a permanent basis as part of a deal taking Archie Gray to Spurs.

I wonder if we prefer to be playing PL with us though? Just because he’s part of a deal for Spurs to secure Grey doesn’t mean Rodon has to accept going back to Leeds though does it? We’ve made a verbal offer gif him and I’d have thought as soon as the player hears about that he might want to talk to us…. Perhaps?Shed on tour wrote: ↑Mon Jul 01, 2024 11:25 amTalk that Rodon is heading back to Leeds on a permanent basis as part of a deal taking Archie Gray to Spurs.

I saw that the other day and thought no but after seeing that he did well for Sheffield Utd and the fact he is only 25 he might be OK, looking at him I was sure he was about 30 years old.ITFC2024 wrote: ↑Mon Jul 01, 2024 1:11 pmAnother linked Striker:

Guess it would depend on how much he enjoyed playing for Leeds. If he was happy there then that might influence his decision.hallamblue wrote: ↑Mon Jul 01, 2024 1:33 pmI wonder if we prefer to be playing PL with us though? Close to signing Daniel Jebbison from Sheffield Utd according to someone on facebook, likely to be third choice at best I would think.

He’d be huge money, he has been a well known top keeper for a long time.ashfordblue wrote: ↑Mon Jul 01, 2024 10:19 pmI want the Slovenian Keeper Oblak here at Ipswich he's a bloody brilliant keeper who just stopped a Ronaldo penalty very solid keeper

Not that he’d even consider swapping Athletico Madrid /champions league for Ipswich !

Re: Transfer Rumours - New Signings for Towns Premier League Squad 2024/25
That’s why he’s Atletico Madrid’s No1 keeper and has 333 appearances with them under his belt. I’m not sure he’d be happy swapping that for a relegation battle in the Premier League or swapping living in the fabulous city of Madrid for living in Ipswich. All this of course assumes we have more than £30m to spare for his transfer fee.ashfordblue wrote: ↑Mon Jul 01, 2024 10:19 pmI want the Slovenian Keeper Oblak here at Ipswich he's a bloody brilliant keeper who just stopped a Ronaldo penalty very solid keeper

Re: Transfer Rumours - New Signings for Towns Premier League Squad 2024/25
Ooop’s - I forgot his almost £18m a year salary at Atletico. Now that really would blow a hole in our wage bill.
It’s also £4m more than our total wage bill for last season.
Nice idea Ash, but Jan Oblak won’t be coming to Portman Road unless we play Atletico Madrid whilst he still plays for them

Nottingham Forest are expected to offload English midfielder Lewis O'Brien this summer with Sheffield United, Preston North End and Ipswich Town interested in the 25-year-old.

Born in Colchester on loan at Middlesbrough and played 21 times for them last season, I don't think he is any better than we have already.

On the issue of wages, I don’t know what others might know , but I’ll ask anyway.
Given we are signing new players with contracts being reportedly 5yrs in length, but with some figures of £60k per week being mention ( can’t believe we’d be paying that but how rjse would we gets targets to join us if we don’t), what will be happening to the squad that has hit us back to back promotions? Is the Club going to give them all a comprehensible salary increase? I think those players do deserve rewarding gif their effort to get the club back to the PL, but can we really afford this?

Most players will have had promotion increase in their current contracts, so be on better money than they were before - without signing a new deal.hallamblue wrote: ↑Tue Jul 02, 2024 9:32 amOn the issue of wages, I don’t know what others might know , but I’ll ask anyway.

They will also very likely have a promotion bonus one off amount too.
I suspect the club will wait and see who cuts it at Prem level and then offer them new deals, in line with prem wages for those that merit it.
You dont want to pay people prem money and find out they aren't good enough as then you can't shift them even for £0 transfer fee as other clubs won't match the wages.
