You jest Marko but a Town v Forest Green Rovers could well be on the cards if they manage to win the League Two play offs which they’re currently in the frame to qualify for.

Re: Relegation
Before Forest Green Rovers made the conference, I had never even heard of them. It’s weird enough hearing their name in League Two!
Please God, no.

Re: Relegation
Looking at the caliber of likely club sides the team will face off against next season there doesn't seem much in the way of concern. Assuming Lambert stays on and the beacon of hope people insist, there are few teams down there that may prove problematic. Dependant on whether say Sunderland, Charlton and Coventry make it out but as for the rest you'd assume it would be near plain sailing.

Re: Relegation
Ah, but all will be different when playing against them in a league fixture and not those nasty knock out competitions.
Also we can now look forward to being knocked out in the first round of the Cup - every cloud eh!!

Re: Relegation
Ok, so I get the feeling most of us are agreed on...
1. Keep bulk of young players in squad, get rid of loan players
2. If we can, sign up the best of the loanies (Pennington? Keane? Judge? )
3. Keep at least a couple of old heads for experience and grit ( I would keep chambo and skuse, but appreciate others wouldn't)
4. Keep Lambert, invest at least a few quid in some dogged league 1/ champ players to give us some grit on those cold wet winters nights in Accrington
5. Win League 1 at first attempt, and bounce straight up to the Prem...
Simples

Re: Relegation
And actually win that checkatrade cup Mike is talking about. It’s a day out at Wembley...... and silverware.
I’m joking. PLEASE play the players grannies in those fixtures.

Re: Relegation
Hmmm. I cannot have the view of the Irn Bru cup that Hibs were in and a different view for ITFC in this checkacowboybastard competition.
I say play the pie stall workers. If ever there was a time that the club should be (cliche) “concentrating on the league”, it’s from this August onwards.
And I’m praying Jack Ross gets Sunderland the hell outta there.

We should have played the pie stall workers for most of this season.

Re: Relegation
True. Only a few seasons ago, Liverpool left back Andy Roberston was pie stall worker / scarf stand worker / boot cleaner at Queens Park. The wee gem was then discovered.

Re: Relegation
In Mike's absence, Southend or Charlton but if Colchester got promoted from League 2 via the Play offs it would be Colchester.goldandblack wrote: ↑Wed Mar 06, 2019 12:42 amSo Mike, what would be your local derby if, just if you did go down.

Sorry G&B, Derick has answered it perfectly and even if Blackpool is a cold Tuesday evening I'll be there.

Re: Relegation
went there years back at there old ground when the Wolves came to Town.,
I even went there once to see Walsall with some army mates stationed in Colchester, another night to regret
not been to the new ground yet but looks impressive from the road to Ipswich.

Re: Relegation
actually the first time I see it was when they were building it, then again when it was dark....you will see a ground this Saturday that's makes Colchester's ground look like Wembley.
PS, surely Charlton cant be a derby for you lads, our only real derby now is Leicester now that those Brummy misfits and the flower pot men have found there level.

Purely on selfish level, the games I can go to next season that are quite close to Chester:
Accrington
Bolton......if Relegated
Blackpool
Fleetwood
Rochdale...if they stay up
Shrewsbury
Bury........if Promoted from Lg 2
Tranmere..if Promoted from Lg 2

Re: Relegation
A contributing factor to Town's demise this season has been the fact we cant hold on to a lead. We have dropped 24 pts. from winning or drawing positions this season. (I.E 1-0 up against Preston, drew dropped 2 pts. Losing to Rotherham in 90 min points dropped 1).
We have also only gained 6 pts. from a losing position.

Re: Relegation
Given how we have performed this season I am not at all sure we will do well against Solihull.
Ipswich have been dying since Markus Evans took over. He uses ITFC as an ego trip, but doesn't put the money in. He put money in when Roy BOLLOCKS Keane was managing and uses that as a reason not to spend money now. He is a disaster for Ipswich.

Re: Relegation
Very astute observation.
Would argue the Keane issue for lack of investment. This was a name that was here what, ten years ago and Evans won't supply funds because of it ? Bit far-fetched with that reasoning.
Evans doesn't possess an ego, he doesn't possess a soul. Merely a gray cloud that has remained consistent over the club for over a decade, coming forth with alarming infrequency with random announcement and proclamation. Seems to admire a target in becoming the most despised and ineffective chairperson in this club's distinguished history.
