Defend from 80mins…….. would love to see all the hypotheticals posts had it been 3-2 Fulham.
Got to assume the blame would’ve been squarely on the players? Yes? Because KMcK instructed Mick McCarthy tactics? And SEEING that he’s learning , would've been cut some slack, albeit, zero points.
We’ll never know, as they're hypotheticals……. But would like to see a winning position again in the final minutes of the next LEAGUE game to see how it all pans out and see if a defensive approach is adopted……. And if the points are saved.

(Not Bristol Rovers. … Wouldnt suppose many are overly bothered)
I think McKenna does need to review hus game management strategy. From about 68mins Newcastle went to a back 5 I think ( they yook off 3 attackers and out on what I thought might be more defensive minded players). They were 2-0 up at Arsenal. Yes they had to absorb more attacking threats as they sat deeper, but it worked. Arsenal players beczme increasingly frustrated, and yes they should have scored.....but didn't.
I watched the same tactic from Forest v Wolves the previous night, and again they made these changes in the mid 60's minutes.
I know we have a smaller, weaker squad, but bodies behind the ball and sitting a bit deeper isn't a crime, and is it any more a risk than allowing your keft babk to be in the opposition 18 yard area? I'd say, probably not.

Marko, its not even a case of defending from 80 minutes, we were winning on 89 mins so it's basically added on time, I don't even advocate parking the bus, its more Davis holding his position maybe up at half way ? Then Clarke using the one brain cell he has and run the ball into the corner instead of shooting which ended up being an assist, great if it goes in but it didn't.
It was the same with the Bournemouth game, almost identical really, could add Leicester to that too and first half at Brentford. It's just a bit of a cautious tweak here and there for a couple of minutes, we'd be above Manchester United now.

By the way Andy, the stats are all on the sky sports App, his are pretty decent tbh.
I’ve just been looking at as many of our Player Ratings as I can find for the Fulham game and every one I’ve found so far has Morsy with our lowest score and to be honest Mike I thinks there’s more to that than just the penalty gift. I’d almost put money on us having a new captain next year if we stay in the Premier League.
Yes the marks out of Ten were lower for Morsy and Davis because they made stupid errors that led to penalties, that's correct and deserved, both 6/10 in most places. The stats on Morsy for passes completed, tackles won etc were 100% for one and High 90s on a couple of others, actually better stats than Cajuste and a few others.

Morsy is iconic for Town , a true leader, but sadly his age and the level he’s now playing at are not compatible. The club will undoubtedly be looking for a successor to the crown. It’s harsh I know, but it will 100% happen, and at his current age, probably sooner rather than later.

I agree Morsy's better days are behind him and next season could well see change but based on this season and what we have we'd be totally lost without him.
It's odd really cus if we do manage to stay up it could be argued none of our Midfield, with the exception of Cajuste, will be here, Morsy (age) Taylor (good enough?), Phillips (Loan and hardly ripping it up) Luongo (age and not for this level). Can't think of anyone else.

I wouldn't be surprised to see the midfield ripped up and built around Cajuste. Having said that though, These changes on the pitch are often gradually introduced, eg defence. He started with the old firm but after 3-4 games soon dropped the original CBs.... I think he'll do the same for midfield.
Taylor never starts games, Luongo is soon to depart I'm sure.
Replacing your club captain is often a tricky one. These players are usually " ever present" and perform regularly at 8-9/10 each week. But their influence are the club on and off the field often makes them less easy to drop. Morsey is in that category. It's going to be interesting to see who we go for as his eventually replacement.
I wouldn't be surprised to see Luongo, Phillips and even Taylor eventually all leave. I think wrll try and sign Cajuste whatever division we're in next season.

That quote in itself Mike is why the boss is on £5M!!
I certainly couldn’t work in an environment of such very fine margins between good/bad.
Can’t even think of a “heating & plumbing” example of that coming to pass with the general public.
Maybe ……….
“Lovely new bath, Mark. I really like the taps and the panels, nice chrome, ……, wait….. is that scratched? YOU FKN USELESS BSTD! Did you carry that bath upstairs backwards ya bawsac?!”

Wouldn't it be good if the press could ask McKenna his reason for his tactics, substitutions, formations and selections. Would help people understand better.

Seriously, thats why i posted that Luke Beveridge youtube post

……. Go full Oz …… grill them!
Cant find a Mick Malthouse interview but it was like this:
Reporter: “Swan was clearly injured in the 3rd quarter. Why did you not replace him?”
Mick: “There was no direct replacement. Tell me bright spark, what would you have done?”
Reporter: “I dont f**king know, im not an AFL boss!”
Mick gets up and leaves for being sworn at. (They sit at a desk with microphones aimed at them? Love it!

)

NOT licking messiah a$$ here…….. but there will be “Kieron” answers compared with “Lambert” answers. They may still be unsatisfactory answers, but they’ll be better answers for sure!
