Note:
- Says OPTION to buy
- He is out of contact end of this season, but UTD have 1 year extension off, they may want rid/wages off books so may not actively = his value is low if no demand for him.
I always confuse him with Neco Williams from Liverpool

Re: Transfer Rumours
Not sure what to make of this story!
I can't see this player coming in to be Davis's understudy! Therefore what are the alternative options?
1- Leif Davis has been lined up by a Premier League side and this guy is his replacement.
2- To play at RB, we know Donacien is suffering an injury, but Clarke's recent injury too is a concern over the course of the season.
3 - Could Leif be being looked at for a more advanced role should KM wish to adopt a different formation during a game
4 - Could this guy, being rightfooted play in more of an advanced role down the right?
I've spoken to a Norwich fan at work this morning, where Williams was a loanee in their Premier League season. They used him as a LB and apparently he "likes to get stuck in". My colleague told me he'd have this guy back over their current LB every day of the week.

Re: Transfer Rumours
Option 2 seems favourite to me, I just don't see Davis leaving or changing position tbh.

Re: Transfer Rumours
We don’t need money. So can’t see us selling Davis tbh. But we do have an ongoing injury in Clark. Williams can play either right or left back, so see him as competition for both Davis / Clark.
But this type of player affords McKenna a lot of options re line ups doesn’t it.

Re: Transfer Rumours
Yes I agree with the "we don't need money" mantra. However if we're to follow the likes of Brighton and Brentford perhaps selling star assets will be the way forward? Bringing in a relatively unknown quantity such as Davis, developing him before selling for a tidy profit, players like Broadhead too, who has probably raised his profile since joining us. If we can get around 20 goals out of Hirst this season, his stock will no doubt rise too! I think we should get used to that business model as a way forward.hallamblue wrote: ↑Wed Aug 23, 2023 12:10 pmWe don’t need money. So can’t see us selling Davis tbh. Re: Transfer Rumours
This club HAS to sell - the whole model is to buy low, develop and sell on for high fee's. Then revinvest and repeat.
Remember this ownership is not 'free money' its here to build a club, player trade is way up the leagues, increase the value of the club and then sell it on for a profit.

Re: Transfer Rumours
I don't think Davis is for sale. If we get Williams he'll be used either on the left or right, I would imagine. I agree Davis could be used in a more advanced role, especially when you consider his assist rate. He's also not shy to take a shot. So if indeed Davis is used this way, then the obvious replacement at LB will be Williams.

No its definitely cover for Clarke. .cos If you notice our qpr match..when donacien lost the ball..Armstrong got past both him and Clarke too easy but if you' notice. Clarke was really stretching and grimacing .and pulled up slightly..so not all good with him..

Re: Transfer Rumours
Davis would be for sale, if someone offers say 10m, 15m or more etc then he will go.
Agree though this could be for general full back cover, if Leigh leaves then you have:
LB: Davies
RB: Clark
Then you have JD and Williams who can play both RB and LB, even Clark can play LB if really needed.

Re: Transfer Rumours
Spot on. This has already been said by Ashton but no doubt when it happens then some will still ask Why? If Davis continues to improve then I expect him to go by the end of the season unless we get promoted again. It doesn’t matter how wealthy our owners are we are restricted under FFP.shabba wrote: ↑Wed Aug 23, 2023 12:21 pmThis club HAS to sell - the whole model is to buy low, develop and sell on for high fee's. Re: Transfer Rumours
Exactly! I think Brentford sold 50-70m of players the summer ahead of their promotion winning season. They just were good at re-investing it but also allowing themselves more FFP headroom. (or PNS as I think its known)
If you could sell Davies for say 15m, and spend half that bringing in 3 players to improve other positions then its how we will work. Brighton are the same even now, they sell for huge fee's yet always seem to have another guy ready to come in and do well.

EPL Index is reporting the Brandon Williams deal is done. Not sure about their creditability.

Oh well we shall just have to get used to this new business model then won’t we. GC have a vested interest in developing this club and strengthening its asset pool (squad)…. How times have changed eh!

It does Charners 12 months loan option to buy the end-of-seasonCharnwood wrote: ↑Tue Aug 22, 2023 11:21 pmThe last para of this latest update from Manchester tonight is interesting.
Manchester United left-back Brandon Williams is on the verge of leaving Old Trafford for Championship club Ipswich Town.
Laurie Whitwell reports that the Red Devils are in ‘advanced talks’ with Ipswich over a loan move for Williams.
The loan deal could come with an obligation to buy at the end of the season.[/b]

I don’t think we’re going to get bored whilst Gamechanger are our owners. All I can see is exciting times ahead with the occasional surprise.

I thought that as I was reading it.Bluemike wrote: ↑Wed Aug 23, 2023 10:11 amThat is interesting, I bet the sods read my post lol.Charnwood wrote: ↑Wed Aug 23, 2023 10:01 amNeither would the bookies Mike, I see they have Freddie as favourite to score the first goal !Bluemike wrote: ↑Tue Aug 22, 2023 9:06 pmThere won't be anymore midfielders coming in, that much I am certain of, Evans , Taylor and Ball all cover Morsy, clearly not as good as Morsy but cover all the same. As for another striker I think we deffo need one, Hirst works his butt off but every game this season he's burnt out well before the end, I actually wouldn't be surprised to see Freddie start Saturday.
The newly-promoted Tractor Boys have won three games out of three and are firm favourites to make it four out of four in being no bigger than 13-10. Leeds can be backed at 12-5 with 23-10 on offer about the draw.
As part of a clear chief quadruple threat, Ipswich are responsible for the first four players in the first scorer market in Freddie Lapado (11-2), George Hirst (13-2), Conor Chaplin (13-2) and Nathan Broadhead (15-2).

Whilst his preferred position is LB he’s right footed and can play either left or right, he can also play a further advanced role. When he first broke into the Man United first team I thought he was there to stay and was until Luke Shaw returned from injury and reestablished himself in the team. Given he’s made 47 appearances in the Premier League compared with Leif Davis 2 and Harry Clarke 0 should indicate the level he’s at and he’s still only 22. He was also Man U’s MOTM on his full debut game in the Premier League and definitely looked like one for the future, his 5 England Caps at U21 and U20 levels would suggest the same.
I suspect McKenna is pulling in a favour here as there’s no way on this earth that Brandon Williams would come to Ipswich without the McKenna link. Given Williams age it will be McKenna who coached him in his youth and clearly the two have a lot of respect for one another. McKenna will know his ability and his potential and Williams will know McKenna could be just the person to help him fulfil his potential.
As for his wages, Man Utd are committed to paying him £65kpw until the end of this season whether he stays there or not and Town can make a contribution. After next summer Man U have no commitment so they save nothing more than our contribution whether that be a one off fee or a weekly amount.
It will be interesting to see what we pay given his estimated transfer value is in the ball park of £3m - £4m although Utd may be happy to accept less and cover themselves with sell on clauses in case he becomes a star player in a couple of years or so.
The only slight mystery to me is why he was on Man Utd’s pre season tour playing in the first team v Real Madrid only a few weeks ago.
However, again I seem to be in the minority but I have total faith in McKenna getting this absolutely spot on especially with a player he will know so much about.
Have you hit the nail on the head in that the guy can maybe be earmarked for the RB slot what with Donacien struggling/injured and Clarke carrying an injury ? Maybe we line up with both Davis and Williams?
As you say in KM it's total trust.
I’ve seen him play a few times Mike and he’s a tidy player and very quick too. I guess I watch too much EPL on Sky.

I’m not 100% sure but I think he’s played for United in the Champions League too. His only downside is playing 26 games for NCFC.

If we do sign him he’ll be an immediate cult hero, because he made it crystal clear what he thought of Norwich fans, and their club. He hated them!

Re: Transfer Rumours
I’m not sure how much BW will improve our squad, but I said in a post many moons ago KM could possibly attract ManU youth players. Love or hate ManU, they’re a fantastic organization in football. I hate that they hold the 9-0 record against us, but I admire the club mostly during AFs years in charge. Williams was born in Manchester; he should be a tough player. He’ll be a quality signing no doubt about it!

If KM wants it then I'm all for it, the man is a top manager and a very smart guy - just give him anything he wants and we will go from strength to strength.

Re: Transfer Rumours
I think he’ll be a brilliant signing, I just feel a tad sorry for whoever makes way for him cos I’m pretty sure he won’t be sitting on the bench for many games. Assuming he signs for us of course.

One he's never gonna drop to this level so it's a pointless debate anyway , and Two and it's purely my opinion so don't take offence but we have a fab togetherness in this squad with no bad apples or low life's, I believe him to be both of those things, as do Man Utd if the truth be told and they no far more than any of us ever will on the subject.
