Tuesday Night

Post by Shed on tour » Sun Apr 23, 2023 7:29 am

Talk about 2 form teams facing each other. One has won their last 9 games at home and the other has taken 34 points out of a possible 36 in their last 12 games. Over the last 15 games Barnsley have actually scored more goals than us, 38 compared to our 37, which seems incredible as we seem to have been scoring for fun during this period. Probably will end up a 0-0 draw now!
Will be there at Oakwell along with the other 5,000 Town fan cheering the lads on. Also would not not be surprised to see the I follow figures smashed again. Still think everything will hinge on the last game of the season at Fleetwood.

I guess by choosing where to take the cut off point can paint a different picture. To reflect latest form I’ve just looked at each teams last 10 games played and this really does highlight how much our team is flying in this final quarter of the season.

1) Ipswich. . P10… GD+27….28 Pts
2) Plymouth. P10. GD+8… .24 Pts
3) Barnsley. P10 … GD+15….22 Pts
4) Peterborough P10….GD +6…19 Pts
5) Cheltenham. P10. …GD +6…17 Pts

9) Fleetwood ..P10….GD +3…15 Pts

14) Sheffield W.P10..GD +1…13 Pts

18) Exeter City..P10 ..GD +0…10 Pts

Whilst it won’t be easy I think we have every reason to feel quietly confident. After all the last team to win at Barnsley smashed them 0-3 and that was Bolton. Anything they can do this team is capable of.

The only surprise I got looking at that table was Fleetwood’s position which isn’t too shabby.

Think a lot will depend on how the lads recover from yesterday. They put in a tremendous amount of work in that performance and I wouldn’t be surprised if a couple of them picked up slight knocks. The big bonus from getting the 3 points yesterday is even if we lose on Tuesday going into the last 2 games it will still be in our own hands. The points total for automatic this season is going to be a ridiculous amount and I would not be surprised if the team that finishes 3rd ends up missing out altogether in the playoffs. Just hope to god it’s not us.

It really is the game of the season, isn't it?
