Even more important he has 24 for the season only 1 short of Peterborough’s Clarke-Harris who is League One’s leading scorer. Would be great if CC could win this too.

What a team McKenna has assembled and how well he’s got them playing. I can’t imagine we have many doubting his ability, lack of experience and unsuitability now. I just hope he gives as at least one full season in the Championship as I think the majority of this team will be able to step up to the required level.

All three goals tonight exhibited my character as a mid 50s bloke in his prime…adventitious, sublime and clinical.

Re: League 1 - Barnsley vs Ipswich Town Preview & Matchday Thread
I said after the Bristol Rovers game if we could win 10 of our 14 remaining games we could still take one of the automatic promotion places and few believed it possible. Well so far we’ve won 11 of them and drawn 1 with 2 to play, and we still not quite there, that’s unbelievable.
A win on Saturday will seal it tho, just what the doctor ordered.

Re: League 1 - Barnsley vs Ipswich Town Preview & Matchday Thread
I won't get this time back but Seems the referee was a tad incompetent today. I've read nothing but castigation and loathing on a leading Barnsley fan message board following the event. Think he was only a kid anyhow, can't access the image right now from the start of game thread but point being Tyke fans didn't have a good word to say.
Gave us a penalty that wasn't, we scored from a corner that should have been a goal kick and that's just a few areas of concern. I haven't seen no highlights as yet. Whatever went down there today I could attest to at least we were efficient and showed more desire and intent than they could manage. They'll be in the play-off games now, can't make auto promotion. Being impartial for one moment there is a level of sympathy for them.
An object was thrown on the field, some beverage container by all accounts. Some sorry-as* stole the match ball - to what end I can't quite work out - and one or two other unsavory moments but if you can rise above that the fact of the matter being we're maybe one point away - one win at least - from the objective of automatic promotion.
Someone mentioned about most registered participants here not knowing what it's like to support a successive Town team or see them play and thought damn they got a valid point. Joined up in 2007 just after the (relatively) successful Royle tenure, from that point on it were an avalanche of unmitigated sh*t with Paul Jewell through to Cook / Hurst just recent. Marcus Evans has to take his share of culpability for the poor standards of the time, but he's gone and f*ck the name in all truth. Just left a certain stain on the club name that can't always be readily erased.
Took a moment to view the Owls Talk message board and happy hour it ain't. I got a certain sympathy for them. Must be hurting right now, seemed well on course for a top two finish most of the season and now very much going to have to take their chances in the top -six lottery endgames. Not going to gloat, this piece of sh*t league is beyond tough. Got to (at times) show certain respect to others.

Did the arse holes mention the incompetent Ref that chalked off our Third goal against them at Portman Road? A perfectly good goal that would have us promoted now ? It’s good to know we’re not the only team affected by unexplained refereeing decisions, but to be honest the standard of some of the guys in this league this season has been so poor it’s almost certain their incompetencies will have been shared out.
It’s a bit like good and bad luck which usually evens itself out over a season

Re: League 1 - Barnsley vs Ipswich Town Preview & Matchday Thread
Amazing really. I just watched the rerun with Barnsley commentators and then seen some of the Barnsley fans reaction
I thought Hurst was unlucky getting booked so early. Yes its a foul but a booking? Not for me. These commentators saying definite booking
Norwood on Davis. Norwood knew what he was doing. No hesitation elbow and arm up caught Davis. Was it a booking? Possibly not but the commentators saying just a harmless coming together. Think it was more than just that. Plus Norwood went on into Walton also. Still a horrible nasty player
The corner, Hard to see if it was a corner or goal kick. Do know we have been wrong on so many decisions like that this season. Still no excuse for rubbish marking on Broadhead and didn't he glance that header in well
I heard Barnsley fans complaining about Hursts goal that he shoved one of the Barnsley's players but it looked like Hurst was dragged down first and yet he still got up, out muscled two defenders, lots to do, yards to gain and still had to produce a great finish
Other Barnsley fans saying there should of been a Barnsley penalty, seemingly a hand ball. When and by whom? I never seen it. Nor did Ipswich or Barnsley commentators mention it
Burns pen I have to say looked soft but seen penalties given for less
Hurst maybe bit lucky not getting second booking but go back. His first for me was really soft
3rd goal, the fans saying Burns was miles offside. Can't really see from camera angle but the officials were giving offside all through the game. Seems strange to miss one if burns was off
Like Mike said, short memories these fans have. The Harness goal still rattles me when played Barnsley at home, though maybe gotten over it now
The best team won on the night. Yes we had lady luck but every team does and its not been overflowing with luck this season. Just over 17,000 was the crowed and almost 5,000 of them were Ipswich fans. Not a great turn out by the home fans really
Come on Town, win Saturday please

They are a snivelling bunch of shortsighted tits in truth, totally beaten by the better team so get over it.
As for Norwood, what a nasty, vile individual he is, glad we got shot of that ineffective pr*ck, never did like or rate him, he should stick to getting pissed, drink driving, wrestling and breaking into homes, he's really good at all that but as a striker, he's a washed up has been that couldn't lace the boots of any of our current strikers.
And as for lady luck, Jesus christ I could list all the hard luck stories we've had to endure this season, it would be the only table we'd be bottom of where good fortune is concerned.

Re: League 1 - Barnsley vs Ipswich Town Preview & Matchday Thread
Freddie Ladapo has his positives, totally understand that, …… its great that Ipswich have choices…… but that second goal; think thats why Hirst gets the nod. Strength, tackled by two players, fights them off, gets back up, plants it from 16 yards…….. brilliant. That type of play doesn’t happen if its Ladapo on and Hirst on the bench.
Not having a go at Freddie, (he brings other things to the table) …… but when situations on goal are not seeming likely, Hirst makes them likely, purely by grit & determination.
Example as a paying supporter would be; off your seat because Leigh Griffiths had the ball, the anticipation was huge, ….., but todays team, stay sitting when Youan has it. From highlights, it looks very similar.
I do wonder what changes will be made next season. Will Ladapo be a big player in the Championship?

Re: League 1 - Barnsley vs Ipswich Town Preview & Matchday Thread
Freddie has 20 goals, he's gained the respect of most fans now, he did similar in the Championship already, something I believe Hirst is yet to accomplish. The thing is they are completely different types of striker, Hirst missed a couple of sitters at home recently and again last night so there is still things to work on, Ladapo would have Been crucified by some a few weeks ago for those same misses but Twenty goals is good in anyone's book and he's second only to Clarke-Harris in the minutes per Goal chart.
FWIW I thought Hirst would be away like a rat up a drainpipe at the end of this season should we still be in League One, not so sure now we are likely to go up.

If Leicester get relegated they may choose to keep him unless we have an option to buy clause written in the loan deal.Bluemike wrote: ↑Wed Apr 26, 2023 12:43 pmFreddie has 20 goals, he's gained the respect of most fans now, he did similar in the Championship already, something I believe Hirst is yet to accomplish. Don't know about KMcK, I think you'd make a good manager Mike, you certainly gee'd those 3 (goalscorers) up.
Was lovely to tune into Sky sports news late last night to see the score while on my Norway cruise. I had been concerned I'd stuggle to get the updates, but even had the bonus of seeing last night's goals too.
