Non Ipswich transfers
Thought we could have a thread for non Ipswich transfer talk?
Interesting McGoldrick has signed for Notts County, boyhood club and not a financial move, nice to see!
Norwich have added Shane Duffy.

Re: Non Ipswich transfers
Turning down a contract with Derby to sign for Notts County is bizarre

Admirable really, wants to see out his career with his boyhood club, no doubt reward them for giving him his chance in the game etc - it’s great IMO.

Not sure of McGoldrick's age but must be approaching a twilight of career. Kind of shame he failed a promotion shot with Derby County, would have been a last chance to feature at the higher levels but if he started out at Notts County and wants to join up following their re-entry into the Football League you can see a certain logic in it.
Still wonder to some extent how he remained prolific / scored regular (and) relatively injury free at Derby when it were the complete opposite in his time here. They've let go one of their most pivotal players, need to find a suitable replacement or two if they hope to challenge again next season.

He's 35 I think.
Didn't he play in the PL for Sheffield Utd. or am I imagining it.

I wouldn't be impressed with signing Ince if it was us tbh.

Blimey - are they starting up a retirement home?
Still - probably a solid signing at this level to be fair, bags of championship experience.

Shocked to see Manchester City Captain Ilkay Gundogan join Barcelona on a free transfer today. I certainly didn’t see that one coming, I suspect Pep Guardiola didn’t either.

I can’t believe Arsenal paid 65-million for Havertz! Pochettino is cleaning house. Don’t be surprised if Chelsea are top 4 next season.

Bit of a surprise but city never seem to keep players once they get that bit older, plus it will be a contract thing - likely city offered 1 year and Barca 3. City also signing Kovatic from Chelsea I believe.

Oh wow that’s big money really, he looks ok in spells but a bit lightweight - I wonder where he will play at arsenal as they are fairly well stocked on the forward positions?

Re: Non Ipswich transfers
Exactly Shabba, City we’re offering a 1yr deal plus a 1 year option which made it an easy decision for him especially having already completed the treble and already fulfilled his MC ambitions

Re: Non Ipswich transfers
"Premier League quartet Brentford, Fulham, West Ham and Wolves will rival Sporting Lisbon to sign £25m-rated Swedish striker Viktor Gyokeres, 25, from Championship play-off finalists Coventry City."
This just shows you, some town fans saying we should get him, quoting 4-5m...........well if you have a good season in the champsionship then the default premier league pricetag now seems to always be £20m+.
This is where its hard re Simms, what is he really worth? If we paid £1-5m for him and he has a good season he could be a 20m+ premier league target, or he could flop and its alot of money to then waste. SO difficult, and shows the challenge in pricing players. Even if Gyokeres is technucaly only worth say £7-8m they never get sold for such low amounts - its like a Premier league tax is applied! Same for foreign clubs, they might get 1-5m for a player from other non EPL clubs, then as soon as the EPL ones are in for them its £20m+.
You can see why the club have gone down the route of buying young players for sub £5m, only takes 1 or 2 to turn into £20m+ assets for it to work nicely.

Re: Non Ipswich transfers
That is a,ridiculous price for Gyokeres, how long does he have on his contract out of interest ? Crikey he's had a decent season in the Championship, that's some big wedge on the back of that.
Simms has a year left on his contract, I would think 3.5k is plenty big enough to attain his services, certainly wouldn’t be paying much more.

Interesting, we were linked with him and nobody here fancied it - now he has ended up in the Prem (for a season at least)

I see those tossas up the A140 likely get a windfall from Maddison to Spurs for £40m

Re: Non Ipswich transfers
They've had numerous windfalls with parachute money etc and blown the lot so I shouldn't worry, maybe it will go towards another 33/34 year old has been.
