Re: Transfer Rumours
Oh it was only twtd but more than one person posted I think it’s been on social media somewhere else too: but like all of it it’s best to regard it as rumour until announced . He’s a free agent I think so could be tied up quickly if all parties happy …. Then again could be a load of old tosh!

He has a year still to run on his contract, I believe Derby took up the extension option they had on his contract.

Re: Transfer Rumours
Ipswich Town set sights on goalkeeper
Ipswich Town are being linked with a move for goalkeeper Luke Southwood following his exit from Reading. The 25-year-old is currently weighing up his next move in the game as a free agent. According to GloucestershireLive reporter Jon Palmer, the Tractor Boys are showing ‘strong’ interest in the ex-Cheltenham Town loanee.

Re: Transfer Rumours
Probably could see Hladky on his way then which is disappointing as he's a very good keeper.

Ooo Jack Taylor signs. Ashton's the mountie - always getting his man!
Lots of intriguing midfield combinations available now although you have to assume it's Morsy +1. Maybe going to lose one or two from that area too?

Re: Transfer Rumours
Can't say I'm jumping through flamed hoops with this addition, 1.5M for him seems a little steep, something about him just do not like, oh that's it, ex-Posh player! I'm going to be wrong but thought we could do better. Take it El Miz and Harper are surplus and bit of a kick in the slats for Humphreys, loan out maybe. Evans still part of our plans?
What wages is this ex-Posh plum being paid?

Re: Transfer Rumours
If you recall Dazza, many of us were underwhelmed by the signing of Luongo. Also BM wasn’t keen on Davis, but he turned out to be a significant contributor to our promotion. I’m not gonna comment on Taylor yet. Let’s give it some time, and see what happens. At least his first name isn’t Paul…Dazzz67 wrote: ↑Mon Jun 26, 2023 7:58 pmCan't say I'm jumping through flamed hoops with this addition, 1.5M for him seems a little steep, something about him just do not like, oh that's it, ex-Posh player! Exactly Liz, they're the experts, I'm just an bitter and twisted old git lol, hope he does well though and give us some extra grit in MF. Just feel a little for Humphreys as he came on really well last season, hope he still gets his chance as competition will be stuff.

Re: Transfer Rumours
Know why maybe I am being a little nasty Number9, he is a new boy and has that lovely new shirt before me, just jealous lol.
I will give the lad a chance, every new incomer deserves that and if he is good as they say I will be ecstatic.

Re: Transfer Rumours
You aren't alone Dazzz, I too am not jumping through hoops, based on the fact that both times we played them he was crap, that said he was up against a very good ITFC team so in KM we trust as he will finally be coached properly now and the fact a hand full of Championship clubs were after him must say something. Welcome to the club Jack Taylor.
No9, you are correct in that initially I wasn't keen of Davis, due in no small part to the fact he was poor in those early games, particularly Bolton and FGR spring to mind, clearly he got himself sorted and has been a revelation although more going forward than defensively.
And well done Mark Ashton, 10 million my arse Fry you utter tool. We offered close to 2 Million a few months ago so a good piece of business from MA

Love this bit in EADT, makes Posh look right tools
"It's understood that Ipswich told Peterborough that they were ending negotiations last week, with the League One club - keen to raise funds - subsequently coming back to the table to discuss a deal for a player entering the final year of his contract"

Although I'm surprised I shouldn't be the way we do our business, I just thought I'll have a last look to see if anything is happening and our signing is dun and dusted well done MA.

Re: Transfer Rumours
Will be interesting to see who moves on, that’s 9 CM’s now on the books - we probably need 4-5.
Plus we know 3 staying will definitely be masimo, morsy and Taylor.
I think we’ll start to see some movement this week or so, even this deal may start to move things as Peterborough will spend some of the money and the chain reaction begins.

Suspect one will stay as either can cover Morsy, more likely evans to leave.hallamblue wrote: ↑Mon Jun 26, 2023 9:59 pmI reckon Ball and potentially Evans are at risk….. but that’s just me surmising .

Re: Transfer Rumours
Jack Taylor must offer something really special and be better than our other midfielders (bar Morsy) as we are overloaded in that area. But I'm pleased with it as he was our long term target. Plus MacAnthony's words about him today..... tasty
Where does it leave our central midfielders?
1. Morsy - undroppable
2. Luongo - gonna compete with him for a place. At the moment though Luongo still deserves a starting place for the contribution he's made since coming in.
3. Evans - mostly very good when he played in the 1st half of last season. Dead ball specialist, good attacker, but...... and this is a very big but.....he's too injury prone so wouldn't be surprised if he left.
4. Ball - his injury hindered him last season. In few games he played he was solid but not spectacular. Limited. We weren't as dominant with him in midfield. If he is happy to stay with us that is fine but is he going to play much? Him leaving might be a sensible option at the moment.
5. Camara - I am still curious as to what he can offer. Described as a lively box-to-box midfielder when he was joining us. He certainly must be hungry to play therefore these pre-season games might be a good opportunity for him to impress.
6. Humphreys - there is only one sensible option for him for new season. That is going out on a season long-loan to a League One club.
7. El Mizouni - that's well and truly over for him at Ipswich. Taylor's arrival will have ended any slim hopes for him.
8. Harper - do I need to say anything?
So get rid of Harper (although he will be probably happy sitting on a final year of his contract), El Mizouni, Humphreys go on loan PLUS maybe two other permanent departures. If that doesn't happen then McKenna is going to have a big task to keep them all happy.

Re: Transfer Rumours
We signed someone who refereed a World Cup Final in '74. Quite a scoop although in truth know next to nothing about the kid we brought in.
Must be useful as would have played a pivotal part in helping Peterborough to the brink of a promotion achievement. Like to think would have been an integral part of their squad last season and McKenna has made a shrewd purchase. Some of our midfield players are going to be surplus this summer so Taylor has obviously come in to make way for someone to move on. 10 goals from 50 appearances for a midfield squad player isn't such a bad return, the kid could prove useful next season.
