Re: Transfer Rumours
Weve got a lot of midfield players atm…. And he wasn’t gif all last season so guess it’s got to happen .
Not sure I like us “ trying “ Ball as a bloody centre back . I hope we’re not going to try snd make do with what we’ve got, coz for me we aren’t strong enough in central defence.

I said all along he wasn't good enough and very injury prone. It's a good moveAzzurroMark wrote: ↑Fri Jul 07, 2023 11:04 pmLooks like Camara will be going out on loan.

Re: Transfer Rumours
He’s definitely good enough . He’s very good, but he’s had a period of injury like many players have eg (Evans, Norwood, Webster). I suspect this season long loan is a chance for Camara to get back to playing regular games, and importantly to prove his fitness. I don’t know how long his contract is. But competition in our midfield is high (as it should be), so he’s being given a chance to get back up to speed and removes him from our 25 otherwise he’d simply not be playing. I reckon he’d do a really good job at somewhere like Derby. What we mustn’t do his loans him back to Ply mouth!!!Bluemike wrote: ↑Sat Jul 08, 2023 12:09 amI said all along he wasn't good enough and very injury prone. Re: Transfer Rumours
I'll wager a bet he never plays for us again. Injuries have probably done for his time here which is a shame, I never really got it when we signed him tbh, he had been struggling, the Plymouth fans were laughing and you can see why now.

Re: Transfer Rumours
I'm not so sure its pointless Mike. Our 3rd choice keeper at the moment need games. He's been 3rd choice for a long time, also picked up an injury last season. Maybe Kieran thinks loan him out, Saves naming Nick Hayes on the 25 player list and give him games
If Ipswich do sign Cieran Slicker it means saving on the 25 man squad and looks like he's one for the future. All this obviously depends on what Hladky wishes to do

Re: Transfer Rumours
Yeah I was assuming he was coming in with Hladky departing which I wouldn't really be impressed with but clearly Hladky is too good to spend another season on the bench. If however it's to replace Hayes then fair enough.

If I was Hladky I’d be looking to move on . He rarely gets any game time does he , and he’s good enough to have it.

Re: Transfer Rumours
Lol, unfortunately you’re probably right.
Phil Ham has said if Hldaky leaves the Club would look to bring in another GK, but that Hldaky has made no noises to that effect that he wants to leave, but he says given that the player is now 32yrs he’d have thought he would have wanted to get a move where he’d be playing Renault football. If that’s the case it says more about the Hldaky’s motivation (or lack of it) than anything else.

I see Burnley have just this week signed him from Manchester City for £15m.Cabanas Blue wrote: ↑Sat Jul 08, 2023 7:13 pmI have a feeling he might not be as good as James Trafford, six games without conceding and a double pen save for the under 21s
Last season he was on loan at Bolton Wanderers where he played every game and was their Young Player of the Season.

Re: Transfer Rumours
Well our new GK has come from the same Man City schooling , so hopefully our new GK will have similar attributes. He is young but I doubt he’s come here to be Walton’s understudy for long . Fee is undisclosed, so who knows what we’ve paid for him.
Here’s a bit about him:
Born in Oldham,[1] Slicker played youth football with Manchester City.[2] He made his professional debut for the clubs Under 21 team in an EFL Trophy draw against Lincoln City on 17 November 2020.[3]
On 15 November 2021, Slicker was named as a substitute for the first team in a 6–3 victory over RB Leipzig in the UEFA Champions League.[4] Pep Guardiola has also named him as his substitute on five occasions in both League and Cup during the 2021–22 season.[5]
In July 2022 Slicker signed for EFL League Two side Rochdale on loan for the 2022–23 season.[6] He made his Rochdale debut on 9 August 2022 in the clubs 2–0 victory over Burton Albion in the EFL Cup.[7] On 11 January 2023, Slicker was recalled by Manchester City, having made three appearances for Rochdale, two in the EFL Cup and one in the EFL Trophy.[8]

Underwhelmed. Until we sign a few more legitimate players, I’ll reassess my prediction for a top 6 finish. At the moment, it’s mid table at best.

Re: Transfer Rumours
I do get the feeling we are struggling to get deals over the line, due more to other clubs reluctance to release players yet than our own inefficiencies, Ashton made the point the market is very very slow atm.
I would not be at all surprised if Hirst and/or Surridge didn't suddenly arrive, while I still have a sneaky feeling Morgan Whittaker's name may rear its head again. The new CB and wide man we need will probably arrive unannounced and out of the Blue.

Re: Transfer Rumours
It wouldn’t surprise me to see Whittaker back at Ply Mouth, he seemed to have a real affinity to them.
I’ll be happy if we get in another striker ( we need one), and a CB. I’m not enthralled by this experiment of playing Ball as a CB. That has alarm bells ringing for me.

We have lots of Goalkeepers 5 now with Hayes going out on loan it still looks like Gray and Slicker won't get much game time which surely they need it they are to improve.

Re: Transfer Rumours
Hayes ever started a game for us ? Seems more chance of seeing Earhart in goal, stands to reason he's trying elsewhere if true. Can't believe we got five Goalkeepers for selection if true.
This new kid coming in, Slicker or whatever it's called, read an article on a rival site where seems he's got a number of fine reviews and something of a promising name but not sure how many times he's going to be utilized by McKenna for next season. Unless Walton or Vaclav go on the injury roster can't see much in the chance for action.
r.e. some reply below, What do we need another striker for. We got the best goal haul of the entire league last season and there's so many alternatives to choose from. You can see certain names being let loose on the Championship from August and actually making an impact. Maybe one prolific or reliable addition is required but they did so well last time out. Why change what works or something.

Re: Transfer Rumours
I don’t really have the time to research all of the available players who may fit into our mold, unfortunately. I did like the sound of that Palace player who was mentioned as a possible loan. Just think we really need at least one quality CB, and if Hirst doesn’t return a decent striker as well. I don’t have confidence in Edmunson, and Woolfy really needs to be accompanied by a good, traditional CB in order to play the way KM wants him to play. A few injuries could make us rather light in the back.

We're not the big fish in the small pond anymore, we're surrounded by teams with similar pulling power now and considering only very good players will improve our team and be worth the risk, such available players are naturally going to draw a lot of interest from others. It could be a tricky window and it could be a late flurry of transfers only once teams have instigated bidding wars to bloat transfer fees and lined up their own replacements before letting players go.

Spot on! Probably 3 tiers of clubs in this league:Ricco wrote: ↑Mon Jul 10, 2023 3:35 pmWe're not the big fish in the small pond anymore, we're surrounded by teams with similar pulling power now and considering only very good players will improve our team and be worth the risk, such available players are naturally going to draw a lot of interest from others. - Parachute payment clubs, i.e recently relegated prem clubs, who have decent (ish money), good squads with saleable assets, and can attact/poach good talent from other champ clubs for good money
- Well financed clubs, like us and some others who have owners/can spend a bit, but cannot pay as well as those above. Can maybe take players off the clubs in the tier below
- Hard up clubs, looking to survive - mainly on free transfers or player trading at low level.

Don't forget level Four... scummy little inbred clubs who nobody likes and who are currently sh*tting themselves that their more illustrious neighbours have caught them up.
