Agree. Obviously none of us know who we are actually in for and McNally might not even been on our radar but certainly is a area where we need to bring someone in as I feel Edmundson is not going to cut it. Also, his injury problems are a concern.hallamblue wrote: ↑Mon Jul 31, 2023 7:43 pmNot looking good for defensive upgrade is it. What we currently have is not strong enough, in my humble opinion.

I wasn't sold on McNally so that doesn't bother me tbh.

Bluemike, you’ve been critical of Jack Taylor so far. What is it about his game you don’t like. I haven’t seen much video on him, so I’m just curious. Cheers, I appreciate your insight.

Re: Transfer Rumours
Give him time - but he hasn’t really shown much in pre season so I see why Mike would feel that way, had looked a bit off the pace/hasn’t contributed much in terms of quality - Suspect he will be fine once KM has had a few more weeks with him and he gets used to the standards of this team.

Re: Transfer Rumours
I didn't rate him when we played Peterborough, he was anonymous, then in a couple of games for us he's been very wasteful with his passing, against Luton he gave the ball away Four times in Twenty minutes, twice in dangerous positions, that's not a case of time to settle in, it's basic football for any player tbh. I've also thought he looks a little weak in the tackle at times. Of course he needs time and a chance and I'm all for that but as it stands atm I have him behind Morsy, Luongo and Evans, that's based on what I have seen of him for myself.

Re: Transfer Rumours
I’m hoping that Taylor will be like Hirst and improve once he has settled in. Obviously he is a player who McKenna rates and sees something in as we tried to sign him in previous transfer windows. I remember his performances against Sheffield Wednesday in the playoffs last season, first leg he was superb and looked a real player, 2nd leg like the rest of the Peterborough team was totally anonymous.
At this moment in time though if all the midfield players are fit he wouldn’t be in my starting eleven.

With Auston Trusty Sheffield United bound and McNally on his way to Stoke, plus Baggott looking likely to go on loan please tell me it's not Cathcart coming in, I'm hoping we have a little surprise gem up Ashtons sleeve.

I fear our Defence will be our Achilles heel if we can’t get a couple of decent defenders over the line.

Same here but I'm convinced someone will arrive, just hope it's more inspiring than Cathcart tbh.

I'm fine with the starting 4 we have (Clarke, Burges, Wooflie and Davies) but beyond that it drops off alot for this level.
Someone(s) WILL arrive though, fear not.

No Clarke for a while though, I fear he is the one who's injury may be problematic for a longer period of time.

Re: Transfer Rumours
Any local talk about this rumour circulating today;
Ipswich Town's Christian Walton has reportedly emerged as a target for Premier League newcomers Luton Town, as the Hatters' search for a first-choice goalkeeper continues.
The 27-year-old was a standout performer for the Tractor Boys last season as they secured promotion to the Championship, finishing second in League One behind champions Plymouth Argyle.
Walton was an ever-present for Ipswich in the third tier and kept a division-high total of 22 clean sheets, helping Kieran McKenna's side to concede just 35 goals in 46 league matches.
The former Wigan Athletic man has played his senior football exclusively in the EFL, however he could now be handed the opportunity to test his credentials in the top flight of England.
According to journalist Alan Nixon, Luton have added Walton to their shortlist of potential arrivals in the goalkeeping department ahead of the 2023-24 campaign.

This is the pond we swim in now, very different from being the Man City of league one last year.
We have Omar so I',m not too disapointed as realisictally we are fairly well stocked in the attacking positions.

I firmly believe Edwards is a very good option for us too if only we'd give him some game time.

Ipswich
Crystal Palace have had to shun a host of loan bids for young players as they assess their options going into the new season, TEAMtalk can reveal.
Current Palace boss Roy Hodgson is putting his foot down and has made clear he is not ready to sanction the deals and leave his squad short going into the new Premier League campaign.
To that end, Jesurun Rak-Sakyi has seen a move to Ipswich put on ice amid a growing belief he could soon be offered the chance to stake his claim for a regular shirt. The winger, 20, spent time at neighbouring Charlton last season, scoring 15 goals in 43 appearances in League One.

Re: Transfer Rumours
I cannot see JRS going to LFFC or anybody else tbh, not with Hodgsons stance on his players, maybe Jan window is an option if required.
It would of been nice but we have decent options anyway, im more concerned with a CB coming in, thats our only real weakness I feel.
Get Sunday done with and see how we fair, still a bit of time remaining in the transfer window so no panic just yet

I also think Eze might have a knock and Olise could be sold.

Luton have agreed a fee of £2.5m plus add-ons to sign Blackburn's 30-year-old Belgian goalkeeper Thomas Kaminski.
So might end the Walton speculation.

Re: Transfer Rumours
For me this would be a better option than Trusty if true, this guy has actually played in Man Utds first team and looked pretty decent by all accounts (from 2 Man Utd fans I work with)Dazzz67 wrote: ↑Thu Aug 03, 2023 11:46 amAnother CB link, tbh do not know much about this lad, does have had his injury issues, now thats a surprise lol....

Re: Transfer Rumours
Not keen, injury prone and has had a career that has just flattered to decieve so far.
It could work out of course, but seems quite the risk to me.
I'd much rather bring in an experienced CB with leadership qualities. Not easy to find of course...

Re: Transfer Rumours
He was unlucky at Stoke yes but on the flip side won the young player of the year award a while back which is no mean feat, McKenna will know of him quite well, 19 first team starts for Man Utd. Injury wise he's no more of a risk than Camara, Luongo, Ball & Broadhead.

Tuanzebe seems like a good match, especially with his ties to KM. Yes he's jumped around a bit, but it's all experience under his belt.
