KM still would like "2 or 3" more signings!
I like the sound of that as we will surely need that depth in quality as the season progresses.

We need em though dont we. We’re paper thin in our defensive “ squad” …. and now with Hirst possibly out we very thin for strikers.

Thing is the level of intensity our players play at, we have to have more quality in depth in this squad. That’ll be the difference between a top 6 finish and mid table in my view.

Lol, if Simpson is anything to go by I'm taking no notice of Ash's glowing verdict of Williams

Spurs letting Dane Scarlett leave … not sure if I’m loan or for sale. McKenna likes him …. Next one in perhaps ?

Not sure McKenna would want another so young as Hutchinson already here. I think if we do get another striker it will be someone more experienced

One thing is certain, the way KM spoke about the strength of the fullbacks in his interview shoes Davis is going nowhere, I just couldn't see it myself.

I'm pretty sure that's just tossing names in the air, I guarantee you he won't be going anywhere anytime soon.

It would take 10m plus to get him. That’s the now price IMO. Could be double that by end of the season.

But we were courting Williams before this season even started . He was at our game with Sunderland, and we were already in negotiations with Man Utd for his signature at that point.

Do I think Davis is Parkhead bound? No, but he’s just the kind of player they’d be looking at, and higher wages and Champions league football for a season or two wouldn’t harm his stock in the game would it. Hopefully we’ll hang onto him for a couple more seasons…

The Scottish Premier League would damage his career in my opinion, boost his bank balance mind.

Probably money and certainty of playing in Champions League every season, and winning SPL every year ( for what the latter is worth , no offence meant marko).

Has the relative quality dropped in say, the last 10 years, last 20 years? Did quality slip when Rangers were dropped right down?

no team other than Rangers or Celtic have been Champions there since 1985, you do the math.

Teams like Aberdeen regularly finished 2nd in the years after but even they have been poor and well away from it for the best part of 20 years, maybe more.

Teams outside the top two in Glasgow can't compete because they don't have the resources, infrastructure, crowd gates etc to challenge (anymore). You'd have to be of say 40 years + of age to recall or understand when the SPL was competitive or others could pose a credible challenge to the Old firm club names.

Saint......, this conversation started because of the possibility of Williams going to Parkhead. Its not about the "honours" of the country. Look at any country....., Porto, Benfica....., Barca, Real,..... AC, Inter etc etc....., there are always a top two or three.......

......, we are talking quality. The quality is embarrassingly poor. Would the lad prosper? I say no. Like all the other guys who've come to Scotland and tried, the lad @ St Johnstone....., the world class McGavin @ Ayr? Or was it St Mirren? --->> no one prospers. It is f**king crap and nothing about it will benefit anyone heading BACK down south other than snapping some tw@ts legs properly.

.... we all know the defunct Rangers & The Smelltic were (and are) the big boys......, with a smattering of the Sir Ecks Dons.

Wouldn't say the older Rangers being liquidated mattered to be honest Ricco. When the Dave Murrays and Fergus McCanns brought the continent to freezing & foggy Glasgow ---->> it all died. There WAS a quality back in those late 80s & 90s when Gazza & Co were at deceased RFC, but that ultimately cost them their very existence.

Yes, I remember the quality back then, but I didn't realise the financial issues start that far back.

I get where you are coming from but it did no harm for Van Dijk, Eduard, Demdele etc. Playing at Parkhead and Ibrox is not easy as the demands are massive. Probably way higher than Ipswich. That said he is at stage now where it would imo be better for him to progress at Town given the coach he has.
Be interesting to see what McKenna would do if offered the Celtic job ???

Hahaha, but no, that is a long time in football.
Villa away then Pittodrie will see him emptied……. then hopefully new manager syndrome (or even SDG) will see the club right. Can’t be allowing the rot to continue and all will be ok @ Easter Road on Sept 28th. 👍👌

At least the Jags won today Marco 3-1 against Queens Park, The SPL Championship anyone can win it's the only league where you can't predict who will win it, should be Dundee Utd BUT you couldn't put a sure bet on it, Partick are so unpredictable go on a good run then crash, I would love to see big conglomerates invest in other clubs rather than The Hoops and Gers so at least we might see some other teams win the SPL even the Loons

With ref to our squad and transfers, this post caught my eye and tbh I tend to agree with it ..

KM has said he wants 2/3 quality signings. He sees what we need. At the moment Ashton is adding only numbers to the squad.

Potential wise.. could be great. But breaking them down

Hirst.. already here
Luongo already here
Taylor.. league 1 midfielder with potential
Hutchinson. First ever loan
Williams. Not played for 12 months

The team has showed its been coached well. Players have individually and as a team improved over the past 18 months.

But.. this is a long long season. Where is the quality being added? . At present and its early. We have numbers but no additional 'quality'

We could develop 2 players for their parent clubs which both MA and KM said they don't like.

This week is very important.

The squad is thin. It has numbers but we are a few injuries away from a very painful championship squad.

Edit: maybe it’s time to look abroad ( assuming we’re not already?)

So, here we are guys. Four days left of this transfer window. Ashton and his team really do need to earn their corn now and get McKenna’s targets over the line don’t they.

I wonder who we will manage to sign? I can’t even come up with any possible names for a striker and CB…or who might still be about to leave this club, because I’m sure some will.
