Pre-match Thoughts – Mike
I'm just running out of superlatives where Town are concerned, as each game comes around you think maybe reality will start to kick in and this incredible journey we find ourselves on will hit a bump in the road and a reality check will hit us and yet game after game, week after week we deliver, we find a way to win when at times it looks unlucky, yes indeed, Kieran McKenna and Co are on One hell of a journey that shows no signs of coming to a halt just yet.
Back track to Saturday and what another incredible result that was, from coming out of the blocks like Linford Christie to build a commanding 3-1 lead to being pegged back to all square and at times looking like we may be turned over. Some of the attacking Football from both clubs was very good indeed while maybe some of the defending not so.
It has been mentioned by a few that Blackburn are the best side we have faced this season and having watched the game back I certainly wouldn’t argue, they look decent and will beat a fair few teams in this division so how pleasing is it that we went toe to toe with them and by the close it was us that had ground out a stunning winner to keep the Tractor rolling along nicely.
We certainly scored some good goals on the day with Clarke, Broadhead and Hirst hitting the target with aplomb but let's also not forget the incredible pass from Cam Burgess which put it on a plate for Hirsty to score, it was sublime, Beckhamesque in fact. If those Three goals weren't good enough just how special was the winning strike from Mass Luongo, incredible strike to win the game and the good thing is is that our goals can come from anywhere in the team. That's now Seven wins from Eight league games to keep us in the automatic promotion places at this early stage.
I didn't see the Wolves game but man what another inspired display from Town, Two down early doors I confess I put my phone away and boogied the night away to the sounds of an excellent Motown tribute band, of course it didn't stay in the pocket for long and much to my surprise all square at the break !!! Cool strikes from Hutchinson and Ladapo getting us back in the game.
Both sides pretty much changed their entire team but still it was us that found a way when reality Says Wolves second string should really be every bit good enough to beat us, a back line of Williams, Baggott, Edmundson and Ball has no right to come out on top and yet we did just that, it shows the strength in depth we have right now
The winning strike was stunning, worthy of a World Cup or European Cup final, take a bow Jack Taylor, what a way to endear yourself to Town fans who had a few doubts, it was pure quality but did anyone clock the build up play from the back with numerous passes to run around the Wolves players? It was excellent. Also credit to Marcus Harness for his hat-trick of assists, he's knocking on the door for sure. So it's the last Sixteen of a cup, does it matter who we draw ? We'll be up for it and confident no matter what.
Its back to League action Saturday with a trip to struggling Huddersfield Town, not easy as always but why should we not fancy ourselves again? With Warnock gone and Huddersfield all at sea off the pitch as well as on it I feel another massive win could be on the cards.
Town's team will no doubt revert back to the A team and they are flying right now, for me it's another happy day for Town as the points come back to Suffolk again. I think Morsy may be suspended? If so Jack Taylor possibly looks to have earned a start, but whoever gets the nod will grab it with both hands. Town win. COYB'S
