Exactly, I've said that from day one when Ashton was getting bad press thanks in the main to Bristol city fans.
Ashton is crucial to the project and without him there would be no McKenna, I said a few days back I'd rather lose McKenna than Ashton.

Re: McKenna - on his future at Ipswich Town.
Not that we’ll get to hear the nuts & bolts of the new contract, but I suspect KM will now be on a VERY hefty contract. This together with a likely even bigger buy-out clause, for Towns benefit, should hopefully see off most future suitors, except for the big 5. We’ve got ourselves an absolute gem of a manager not seen here since the late GREAT Sir Bobby Robson.
I’m looking forward to seeing whom McKenna has asked for on his wish list. I just hope he gets his birthday wish of Omari. We’ll see

I genuinely feel regardless of the situation the club will make the max amount of money available for transfers within the financial rules. I think they'll try and be wise with spending it, but it'll be there if needed I believe.hallamblue wrote: ↑Mon May 27, 2024 9:40 pmNot that we’ll get to hear the nuts & bolts of the new contract, but I suspect KM will now be on a VERY hefty contract. I think we may miss on Omari, hope I’m wrong but it sounds like Chelsea have other plans for him. I can’t wait until this is done and dusted and we can focus on player acquisitions. We probably need to build from the back, but who knows. Kieran may have other plans if he re-signs.
It’s exciting times for us! I’m really looking forward to the season!

I’m gonna make a lofty prediction, tomorrow there will be an ITFC press conference announcing Kieran McKenna has signed a long term contract with ITFC!

Re: McKenna - on his future at Ipswich Town.
Although it’s not been officially confirmed, for me it’s the first time in two weeks I’ve felt really confident that Kieran McKenna will be here for a while longer. Whilst this has always been my expected outcome there have been a couple of times when I’ve thought it just might not happen, but even then I’ve still not been able to bring myself round to imagine next season without him let alone think about his replacement.
Although I don’t know exactly what a football manager’s recruitment process looks like, I won’t be in the slightest surprised to find out that he hasn’t been interviewed for any of the vacancies we’ve all been worried about for the last 10 days or so and it’s been nothing more than uncontrolled media speculation. We’ll probably also find out that the reason we’ve not heard anything from McKenna is because he’s been on holiday for two weeks with his family and promised to leave his phone at home.
As I said 10 days ago the most important thing Mark Ashton needed to do was to offer him a new lucrative long term contract that would give security to both parties and I was delighted when it was made public that Ed Schwartz had travelled over from America to put the deal to Kieran personally which was a very smart move. Of course any new contract would have break and release clauses to suit both sides but it would also ensure that should he leave us whilst under contract the club would be suitably compensated.
Other than waiting for confirmation that this horrible situation is formally over, we can now sit back and enjoy the summer and what goes with watching McKenna and Ashton recruit the players that will make up the squad of ITFC’s team to compete in next seasons Premier League.

Completely agree with this. I too have been sure that he was staying but felt in recent days that the silence must show that something was going on in the background. Who knows who/if he has personally spoken to anyone and if he stays now, I frankly don't care and as I have said all along, if he gives us one year in the Prem (hopefully more) and then goes, he would then go with my best wishes. Hopefully, we have that situation now and can move onCharnwood wrote: ↑Tue May 28, 2024 4:32 amAlthough it’s not been officially confirmed, for me it’s the first time in two weeks I’ve felt really confident that Kieran McKenna will be here for a while longer. Kept checking odds via sky and he is not second favourite for UTD job slightly behind Poch.

Now also reported in the athletic - which is a good sign as I believe they are very credible.
Ipswich boss Kieran McKenna is set to sign a new long-term contract despite interest from Chelsea, Manchester United and Brighton. (Athletic - subscription required)

Nothing on Town TV news since May 23rd, for me to pay £170 next season it would have to be a lot better.

There is now an article explaining why McKenna decided to stay with us. And still no formal announcement. What a difference a day or two can make in the papers lol

Re: McKenna - on his future at Ipswich Town.
could be on suspension if logged in yesterday. Way i see it McKenna is weighing up his options, surely looking at time away, take a vacation someplace to distance himself from the game and come back then with an answer. He doesn't feel ready to inform where his he sees himself from August and requires a break if only to get away from any immediate talk and speculation. The operative term is just being patient rather than (fans) hoping for a solution really before it's readily available.
Think we're safe enough. Chelsea likely to bring in Leicester coach rather than what we got and MUFC either won't part with Ten Hag or simply look elsewhere if and when the latter departs. That only leaves Brighton if correct and even now the idea Mckenna could go there seems dubious. Believe given enough time the manager will remain in place with us.
let's not forget before he came in after Cook left here the issue dragged on for some considerable time before we found out who was to manage here. It's basically a very similar scenario with the same individual in question.
