So it’s now 16.21 hrs and STILL NO formal confirmation that McKenna has signed a new deal. Why?

It’s like being a kid again and waiting for Santa to show up, wondering if you have been naughty or nice isn’t it.hallamblue wrote: ↑Wed May 29, 2024 4:23 pmSo it’s now 16.21 hrs and STILL NO formal confirmation that McKenna has signed a new deal. Why?

My Mom told me many reasons why he wouldn’t, but I digress…

I'm wondering if he's been kidnapped and is locked in that empty trophy room in carrot road ?

Ipswich Town are tonight putting the finishing touches to Kieran McKenna’s contract. No issues - just the final legal conditions being signed off. A formal announcement is now expected in the next 24 hours. #itfc

Re: McKenna - on his future at Ipswich Town.
Some of the comments on here really are ridiculous, as long as he’s made up his mind that he’s staying, what does it matter if the contract document is signed today, tomorrow or next week. Having been involved personally with a contract a fraction of the size of McKenna’s it still involved a number of visits to an employment lawyer and paperwork going back and forth to the Company’s HR Dept.
As I said a day of so ago, processing a contract of this magnitude will be event driven not date or time driven and it will only get signed when all the i’s have been dotted and the t’s crossed. For sure a £20m contract will include some fine detail to ensure both sides are adequately protected.
I’d suggest don’t keep looking guys cos if you’ve not read or heard about it there’s probably no point looking. When it finally gets done we’ll all know about it pretty quickly. In fact if it’s true as someone said “he’s gone on holiday”, if that’s the case it’s not going to happen imminently.

KMc can sign while on holiday by online document signing, I'm surprised he not already been on holiday I'm sure he needs one, and he will need to be back to let the players who are going to be released know if that's not already been done.

I think most of us just want to see the deal done, so we can focus on player acquisitions.

I thought he’d already been on holiday, didn’t Mike see him at Stansted Airport on his way home from Portugal ? ….. or maybe he was on his way to an interview.Cabanas Blue wrote: ↑Wed May 29, 2024 10:11 pmKMc can sign while on holiday by online document signing, I'm surprised he not already been on holiday I'm sure he needs one, and he will need to be back to let the players who are going to be released know if that's not already been done.

I think we all want to see the deal done, we just don’t have any control or say in the timescales. As for focus on player acquisitions I’m sure Mark Ashton has that completely under control and very separate from McKenna’s situation.

Re: McKenna - on his future at Ipswich Town.
They could have taken the signing pics ahead of time and just waited until the documents were online signed or signed and faxed back etc from any location. So I don't think him not being in the county today would be an issue for the club.

I think the problem is that we are not used to having something that anyone would actually want that badly and being under the media microscope.
20 years of not much happening is causing high levels of anxiety for us all as we are out of practice!!

Re: McKenna - on his future at Ipswich Town.
Hmmm someone has just posted this in the last half hour on twtd ... Im not getting good vibes If im being totally honest. Its taking far to long to announce his signature on this new contract ... I hope this ( below) is just a load of BS
"Latest word on the street is that Man Utd have come in again amidst all the fervour of Kieran's intention to commit to Town long term. The stalling doesn't seem to be on contract detail at all - that's just a smokescreen - rather that Utd, having created so many rules that their new Manager has to follow have now put off the likes of Poch, Tuchel, De Serbi leaving Kieran as the candidate most likely to fall in line with what they now define as the role of the Head Coach. Really, really hope this is wrong but this elongated "we're about to announce" promise is starting to sound hollow. If this doesn't get over the line soon then Mark Ashton, who must be so frustrated with the whole situation, may find that candidates to replace Kieran - Robins, Corberan, Cooper, Potter, etc - are getting snapped up by others. I imagine the brotherhood relationship between Ashton and McKenna is now being severely tested.....and the players must be wondering what the hell is going on too...another brotherhood we don't want to see weakened. Like many on here I'm genuinely worried and starting to feel more than a little unimpressed by the silence which can only be down to KM and his agents CAA and the re-emergence of the Man Utd option."

Re: McKenna - on his future at Ipswich Town.
It came through on my Google news feed... but as Mike has just said , he reads it as IF he leaves... more bloody media circus . I read it , that he had been sacked. The title is a bit misleading perhaps ....Steve wrote: ↑Thu May 30, 2024 2:26 pmwhere do you see this Liz ?hallamblue wrote: ↑Thu May 30, 2024 2:19 pmI see Utd have now sacked TH...oh well , here we go again then... coincidence Mckenna hasnt signed yet?

Just saying odds for next Man U manager if currant one is sacked
13/8. Mauricio Pochettino Next Permanent Man Utd Manager.
4/1. Roberto De Zerbi Next Permanent Man Utd Manager.
9/2. Thomas Tuchel Next Permanent Man Utd Manager.
6/1. Kieran McKenna Next Permanent Man Utd Manager.
This is really stressful for us all but hang in there

Re: McKenna - on his future at Ipswich Town.
Don't blame yourself Liz
Honestly, I only really take notice of couple of journalists plus The Athletic which need to subscribe
Nothing on these other than expecting Kieran to sign Wednesday and then today but contracts are still in hands of tthe lawyers.
Seemingly videos have been filmed of exchanging and even Kieran on the pitch having a kick around with his son. This length of time is awful but if Kieran changes his mind now which I really doubt he will it will look terrible on his CV
