2024/25 PREMIER LEAGUE fixtures.

Post by AzzurroMark » Mon Jun 17, 2024 8:52 am

Just over 24 hours until the fixtures for the Premier League are released (9am 18th June). I thought this had been covered in another thread, however I couldn't find a specific one.

So Home or Away first?

They're all tough fixtures, but would you prefer one you'd see as giving more chance of a win? Or would you like to start off with one of the big guns?

I would like to see something like Wolves or Forest at home, but think we'll get an away game at Villa.

Anybody except Leicester or Southampton as I will think we are back in the Championship again. If we are away hopefully a trip that is not too far to begin the season.

I haven't seen anywhere that we have requested to be away on the opening weekend but someone has told me at work today that we have, anyone seen anything on this?

I am thinking Spurs at home but if above is true then away lol. Just got this feeling its gonna be them.

Seen a couple of rumours about this on twatter or whatever it is called now but as we know 99.9% of the stuff put on there is BS.

My mistake I forgot to add a few more 9’s after the decimal point.

I suspect we will get Man Utd.

I'd prefer someone like Forest at home though.

Home fixture would be nice, but couldn’t easily understand if the club asked for an away fixture due t9 all the development issues going on.

For me, that aside, I think I’d like to get Man City early in the season, home or away in the hope of getting them when cold if you you know what I mean, and and if there’s ever a chance that they’d be cold. Lol

I’d definitely prefer the opener to be at home but won’t be at all surprised if we have requested an away fixture. Everton, Bournemouth, Forest etc would be good as they’re all likely to be with us in the lower half of the table, so let’s see how we fare against them before they know too much about us and our game plan.

Last season the new teams were mainly at home with Burnley entertaining Aston Villa and Sheffield United hosting Manchester City. Meanwhile Luton Town played away at Chelsea travelling at their request for the whole of August whilst their ground was upgraded to EPL minimum standards.

If this is anything to go by maybe we will be at home unless we’ve asked not to be.

If we haven’t then how about Liverpool at Portman Road.

Just as predicted Liverpool at home, 12.30 kick off.

What a game to start with. ⚽️⚽️⚽️

Followed by Manchester City away. What a baptism to the Premier League.

Arsenal and Chelsea over Christmas with Arsenal away on Boxing Day.

Final game of the season West Ham at home on May 25th.

On the other side of the coin, finishing with Everton (A), Brentford (H), Leicester (A) and finally West Ham at home, are all games which offer hope if we happen to be in the position of fighting for a reasonable chance of survival.

You're right for sure, I'd rather have a tough start and an easy finish than t'other way 'round. It's about as brutal welcome as you can get though, at least we start at home, on occasion the top teams have taken a few games to get going, especially with a new manager, there might be a chance of them underestimating Town and slipping up!

I would too, we'll be more streetwise come the end of the season and if you are gonna catch the big boys out it will most likely be at the start of the season so on that basis it hasn't been too unkind.

Sheffield United played Man City at home on the opening day last season losing 1-2 with Rodri scoring the winner in the 88th minute. Given United only picked up 16 points all season suggests it’s not impossible to give the top clubs a close game albeit the stats will definitely be stacked heavily in favour of the big boys.

Certainly now the fixtures are out it’s all starting to feel real.

Hopefully the excuse for a defender won’t even be in the side .
