The silver didn’t allude him, Hallam. He was always finishing second.

What a gentleman!

Should have gone after the last World Cup, it was fairly obvious he falls short of the talent to win a major (unless sublimely lucky). It'll be interesting to see what is next for him, because I think he will be a very average club manager, that has already been proven at Middlesbrough too I guess.

Well, with his face not helping matters, he had to have some appeal at least!

I think it was inevitable after the crap thrown his way, despite being England's most successful manager his face didn't fit come the end.

I have no issue with people not liking his managerial methods, tactics, style of play etc but some of the incredible nastiness aimed at a decent person who gave his all is frankly disgraceful tbh. Some of them belong on the scum thread which justifies itself more with each passing day.

He's overtaken Robson in terms of second best for English national team and would be ahead of Ramsey and on top of the pile if not for he hasn't actually won anything. Ramsey won an international honor, Southgate hasn't and did not, and for that he must remain in second position as most successful.

Think maybe he was just didn't feel appreciated by the end of it. Some idiots were launching beverage containers his way at times during early stages of the past few weeks when the english were struggling to overcome some obscure exercise boys from Eastern Europe. Guess the same beauts were handing out plaudits left and right once the English progressed to the final stages and Southgate could then do no wrong.

Think where the English went wrong particularly the manager this tournament and final of Euro 2020 they just weren't adventurous enough, played not to lose rather than going for an outright victory. Kind of like McCarthy here when in position a few years back. Instead of a determined effort to win you play cautious or attempt to avoid defeat rather than a full on approach at victory.

Somewhere, someplace, there's going to be doubtless talk or rumor of McKenna being the potential replacement. It's an idea you got to entertain. 99.9 per cent it won't transpire but for all he's done with us and his star is burning bright right now and another promotion, you know damn well he's got to have been considered at one time or another. Nothing to lose sleep over however, good night from the Emerald Isle.
