So who's going to the Fortuna Dusseldorf game Saturday?
I am. As someone who will rely on the rarest of events this season - tickets reaching the General sale level, i've decided to adopt a more positive approach of getting to games where tickets may be more readily available.
The other thing is that the Fortuna fans, have always been great when they have visited PR (and are no doubt fantastic hosts to our travelling tractor boys & girls), I foresee a great atmosphere with fans of both clubs happily mixing, which in essence is what football should be about.

500 Fortuna fans coming over for the friendly on Saturday. Should make for a good atmosphere.

I recall a short while back discussing Loudnproud on here, having seen him at one of the games that our German friends attended. Just saw this FB post and good to see Dave in the picture.

Two or Three familiar faces on there, James Hacker far right and ITFC drummer Nathan Paris in the front centre.

Yes should be a good atmosphere, anybody have any idea how many tickets have been sold?

Just had a look and there are still quite a lot of tickets available in SBR Lower Section 5.

I decided not to bother when I saw there was to be extra time and pens as for me, that just means 1000 substitutions and the game becomes worthless (as a fan). Now that has been rescinded, it may be better and I hope it is for you guys going. As for me, I will watch the stream but pre-season friendlies not really for me - can't wait for Liverpool followed by Man City though! Only 2 weeks to go.... 😱 enjoy the day tomorrow.

I don’t think I’ve been to a pre season friendly ever in my life. As with all sport, non competitive stuff doesn’t really interest me whether or not it’s playing or watching. This is probably why I still choose to play league golf in Spain rather than just playing social golf with my mates.

Hibs always seemed to win the non competitive friendlies. Then be sh*t in the SPL.

Witnessed Hibs win v Leeds when Hasselbaink played for them, Aston Villa when Daly was their immense right winger, Chelsea when they were pretty good……. Host of others, Middlesborough Blackpool, Birmingham City when they were all EPL.

That Villa game……. Beat them 4-3 at Easter Road.
The next again saturday, season kicked off at Airdrie———>> gubbed 2-0. 🤦‍♂️

Ipswich 4 Dusseldorf 0

Looks like a 4-3-3 today?

Taylor probably playing slightly ahead of Morsy and Masimo - Chaplin left 10 and burns right?

Or a 352 with burns at RWB?

No Omari in the squad might be a worry.

Looked like a little knock so took him off to be safe.

Really lacking an X factor player today. Omari etc. I feel we really need another tricky winger.

It's going to be fun with our keeper he seems to like getting close to the half way line with or without the ball🫣

Ipswich Town 0-1 Fortuna Düsseldorf - Half-Time.

Danny Schmidt’s fifth-minute goal has given Fortuna Düsseldorf a 1-0 half-time lead over the Blues at Portman Road.

Does anyone have any later information ?

Harness made it 1-1 but we lost 1-2 and for some reason we had pens, Chappers hit the post then Walton saved it got to 6-6 then Wolfie had his pen saved so we lost that as well 6-7.

Second best for most of it. We had a bright 15 minutes or so at the start of the second half. Harness looked very sharp when he came on. One or two looked completely lost - Chaplin in particular. Only a friendly but while we defended fairly well we get cut open if the opposition attacks quickly - as with both their goals.

A typical pre season run out for me against a team Three weeks further ahead in their pre-season, the result really immaterial as KM clearly looking at formations, player options and combinations etc.

I thought the first half was largely lacking in incident really, their goal aside, we had a couple of half chances but rarely troubled the keeper. Greaves looked the pick of the new signings winning several headers, Morsy as always stood out while Taylor was busy, again Leif Davis was poor with his delivery all too often.

The second half started off much better with Hirst a big improvement on Delap, this also brought Chaplin into the game and for 15 minutes we looked really good with those Two linking up well. I thought Harness was very good and stood out again today. All too often we got caught out down our right with Johnson often exposed.

Muric looks interesting, loves to wander upfield for sure, what a beast he is and will certainly entertain.

Greaves looks a real player to me and will be our main man at the back.

The jury is out on Johnson at this early stage, done some ok things but also struggled at times.

Delap had a early chance which he should have done better with and we clearly improved when Hirst replaced him.

Greaves & Edmundson look a far better pairing than Burgess & Woolfenden who again both look ordinary.

Lovely little cameo from the lad Barbrook at RB when he came on.

It's not important at this stage, just observations of what I saw on the day.

We all see different things in a game, but Mike you have saved me giving my view point, to the word! You totally mirror my opinions on both game and performance of the players.A perfect summing up.

Most friendly games are about fitness not performance, although I’m sure the players feel better if they win rather than draw or lose. Talking about friendlies, did we defend the pre season friendly tournament we won in Austria last year or was that a one off.
