Maybe because numbers have not been declared for the players yet.
They have the numbers on their backs though.

Not a bad first half against a team that finished 5th last season in Ligue 1 and qualified for the UEFA Europa Lesgue.

At least Delap looks a decent No 9 always ready to take a shot at goal and looks to have a powerful shot too.

I didn’t realise until I noticed their shirt sponsors name that Nice are owned by Sir Jim Ratcliffe part owner of Manchester United.

Tuanzebe ⚽️

Had he not scored I think we’d have had a penalty.

I can’t believe how well George Edmundson is playing this afternoon.

Seven changes on 62 mins, everything I detest about pre season friendlies especially when it’s only 7 days before the season kicks off.

Should be 2-0, Ladapo hits the post, the ball rebounds to Harness inside the 6 yard box with half the goal empty he shoots straight at the keepers feet, about the only place the ball couldn’t burst the back if the net.

I know there’s only 2 players who look like playing 90 mins but we don’t half look a fit team especially for the time of year.

What are your thoughts on the game Andy? Certainly a quality opponent who had scored 9 goals in 4 friendlies and until today were unbeaten.

Have we learned anything about starters for next weekend or even formation?

Result

Ipswich Town 1-0 Nice

A very solid Town performance with limited chances which gives concern where our goals will come from with the current squad.

Surprised by how well the defence played and Muric commands his area well and catches more balls in the 6 yard box than he punches.

Was pretty pleased with that today especially when looking at the calibre of the opposition, I thought we were well worth the win. Good possession, good passing, strong on closing them down, players looking hungry and our fitness looked on the money.

I'm still not sure who is gonna start next week as some players who were probably not expected to start are playing well, Taylor, Tuanzebe, Edmundson and Harness all pushing for a place. I have to say I liked Delap today, very strong and direct, good first touch and puts himself about, boy are we gonna need him.

My only concern today was Muric's kicking, a good Four times he played us into trouble and in this division we will be punished, hopefully it was a bad day and not the norm, that said the rest of his game was very good, he plucks high balls out of the air effortlessly.

I have no concerns with our starting Eleven, whoever they may be, it's squad depth and numbers we have to work on, I'm sure it's coming.

I prefer a f**king great big Slav in goal, like Bart was, a man who controls the space and holds the ball, maybe I'm old fashioned.

Town looked very sharp, and slick in their passing game today. Considering we were playing against a Europa level side, you'd be hard pressed to say Ipswich wasnt that side!

So many players looked good and on it, Harness, Delap, Taylor, Luongo znc of course thd irrepressible Morsy.

The more I'm seeing of Edmundson at Rt CB the more I'm liking him, Greaves is just class and we at last look like we have CBs with ohtdicsl presence and defensive nounce about them. The partnership of Johnson and Axel looks cohesive and quick.

But whilst I'm not expecting anything other than 2 initial PL defeats, I think we can get something out of this season. But we will need some quality in thd striker department because for all our good interchange up front I'm struggling to see who will put the ball in the net for us

Pretty well agree with all that. Still expecting relegation but we might have enough to stay up. As you say, scoring could be a problem as it stands.

From the match today - Johnson looked solid, Omari was better than our last game. As was Delap who had some really good takedown and turns when having the ball played upto him, he still lacks a bit in the finishing / knowing when to shoot phase though.
He has many good attributes so hopefully he can become a really good player.

Muric - as others have said he played us right into trouble a number of times. However he looked very assured coming for crosses and did hit some nice passes - the one right through the middle to Omari was great and the same as he did in the last game.

We had a very good spell for the last 15mins of the first half, but lacked a bit of cutting edge - you could tell the opposition was a step up from last year as we didn’t quite flow as well, and lacked the ability to unlock the oppositions defence. once Omari and Delap went off we looked blunt.

Johnson playing as AMR for alot of the game isn’t ideal and showed we need a couple of bodies in.

Did anyone watch the extra 30min game after? Greaves looks so good, he reads the game very well.
Al-Hamadi had some great chances and missed them all, not ideal!

Didn't know there was an extra 30 minutes training game afterwards tbh but let's not forget Al-Hamadi literally saw game time for the first time yesterday so hardly surprising he's rusty, not really a good yardstick to measure him by.

They casually announced it at full time as fans were leaving. I stayed back and watched it - 90 percent of fans had left.

It was mostly the same side who finished the normal match, Walton. Greaves, Wolfie, Chaplin, al hamadi. azate was the trialist - playing CM, he looked fairly average.

We lost 1-0 but could have won given the chances Al-Hamadi had. Ndombele played for them. Well worked goal from
nice - glancing header.
