The Etihad .....a few helpful tips
Hiya.....Alan here, 60 years supporting City.......seeing as a lot of Ipswich fans may not have been to
The Etihad, any queries or questions, I will try to answer.
I've done this a few times over the years, for a few clubs , like Forest , Glasgow Rangers, and a few more......Okidoke

Thanks Alan, very kind.
How do we get three or even one point? Would bribing the officials be best, maybe a dodgy lasagne, some sort of voodoo curse?
Any tips would be most helpful.

Firstly.....try to avoid the main car park next to the arena. Its hell to get away from after the game.
Do not be tempted to park on streets about a 2 mile radius from the ground......they're cracking down, and you could be towed away.

Is there any space on the pitch for the parking of a large bus?

Re: The Etihad .....a few helpful tips
My daughter and I have a rule that says we can leave any game if we go 0-4 down. With that in mind, how is the traffic if getting away say around 10 minutes after kick off?
seriously though... is there anywhere to eat within say a 20-30 min walk from the stadium, other than the usual burger vans etc? Looking forward to the experience, if not the anticipated result...
is there ever any trouble post patch in particular if wearing colours? (My daughter is quite pregnant so want to avoid any unnecessary issues)! Thank for your help

Shabba,
Every game is different, and every proffesional side has a chance on the day.
I thought you had several good chances against Liverpool

Hi TEVEZ123, many thanks for posting this info on here. Can I make a suggestion that you also post similar on twtd. Many more Town fans post on this site . There a few knobs on there but many others would like to read your advice etc . Thank you

Blue Wilf.
There are 2 good Chip Shops behind the away end,
Trouble is pretty rare, apart from the Liverpool, and United game, although saying that, there is usually a lot of ahhhm, banter on the first tier, with home fans either side.

The first and only time I was at The Etihad there were all sorts of folks running around in circles, jumping over things and chucking sticks and metal balls about on the infield!!

Quick tip.
Anyone planning to use the Metrolinnk to the Etihad.....for a 3 oclock kick off...... dont leave it too late......id say latest 2.20 or so gpoing.
and be prepared for a bit of a Sardine job. its only a 10 minute journey from Piccadilly so not too bad.
Coming back...... either be prepared to wait in a pretty big queue, or walk back to town , like a lot of people. about 30 mins

Quick one
Anyone who fancies a few beers.
Youd probably be better going to the Northern Quarter, which has loads of bars. About 2 miles or so from the ground

Re: The Etihad .....a few helpful tips
Thanks for all the help.
Side note but I’d be interested in your thoughts on City this year? To me as an outsider looking in, it feels like they have a great squad but perhaps haven’t really strengthened - where Arsenal have.
However they seem to be good at bringing through young players who they signed 2-3 season back or even via the academy. The squad is still very strong - a little surprised they didn’t replaced Alvarez as who will play in the striker role of Harland is out?
It also feels like they are being cautious now with the spending - perhaps due to the recent attention around that.
What is the feeling re the court case for example?

Not going to the match, but thanks for the info. I’m always skeptical when away fans recommend places to get a pint, but I’m sure you are being sincere.
As far as ManC winning the league again, I don’t see it happening. Arsenal & Liverpool are the favourites for me. They’ve figured out how to contain Haaland, and Foden’s muted performances for England in the Euros is great intel for the top clubs. Yes you’ll probably beat us comfortably, but I think the tide is about to turn. Thanks again for reaching out to Ipswich fans and good luck with the season.

Harland is not exactly struggling for goals
Foden was unreal for city last season, it’s a bit ridiculous to use the England thing - the whole squad was bloody terrible!
That’s a management/system issue not a player problem.
Even out of position Foden still was very unlucky, had some great shots, hit the woodwork etc. class is permanent

Haaland had a down period last season where he went several games without scoring. I love Foden! He’s my favourite England player, but intelligent managers will know how to neutralize him.shabba wrote: ↑Wed Aug 21, 2024 9:33 pmHarland is not exactly struggling for goals

Re: The Etihad .....a few helpful tips
HIya ...... back on.
I only recommended going to the northern Quarter because there are very few pubs, if any, around the ground.
Mary Ds is a no no, and the rest like The Townley, are limited.
I have seen away fans in the Squash bar, next to the athletics track, before, but its really small and usually packed out.
Im not sure how the League will pan out. It might go to the last game again.
Prices for beer, food and refreshments, in the ground are the usual Premier League prices , but the quality is good- ish.
BIt of a warning for the weather........weve had a bad few days , and a storm due tonight.
Lets hope it improves.

Re: The Etihad .....a few helpful tips
i forgot to say,
The away coaches are parked directly outside the away turnstiles, about 30 yards away, and are usualy given a escort away to the motorway, I think.
Because of the Arena bomb a few years ago, you might get searched with rucksacks etc. Bags above a certain size might not get in.

I think everyone is searched on the way out too, anyone looking to leave with 3 or even 1 point is quickly dealt with.
