The great thing about playing in the Premier League you can find every match on tv. That said half the pitch in the sunshine and half in the sun isn’t easy to watch.
Great save by Muric diving to his left on 4 mins

Morsy booked inside 7mins isn’t good. With his style of play getting through to 90 mins without a second yellow won’t be easy.

Not to speak too soon but according to comnentary we’ve not conceded from a set piece so far this season. How things have changed under McKenna.
We look so well organised in the early stages.

If he’s going to give Morsy an immediate yellow, why want there one there?

I assume you mean for the challenge on Hutchinson or the next one on Burns ? .. the Hutch one I don’t think he was looking despite how close he was.Ohiotractorboy wrote: ↑Sat Sep 14, 2024 3:17 pmIf he’s going to give Morsy an immediate yellow, why want there one there?

Leif is unfortunately looking our weak link again and makes too many errors. Fortunately so far not costly.

Leif has made a couple of decent interceptions to make up for his couple of earlier mistakes, without them we could have been in trouble. Should help his confidence

Another well positioned save by Muric low and on target to his right post.

Incredible double save from Muric on 35 mins is keeping us in this game. Could be another shrewd decision by Ashton and McKenna.

The stats can’t be looking good but if we ever get a chance we’re sure going to need to take it as there won’t be many based on the first 40 mins which Brighton have totally dominated despite having nothing to show for it.

Murics night out seems to have done him a lot of good, on this form you can see why we bought him I just hope it continues.

Brightons 4:4:2 has dominated midfield but our defence has been pretty awesome especially our man at the back.

The problem is Phillips has been forced back to make up an extra man in defence which he’s done very well at but this leaves Morsy on his own to link up play from back to front.
If Phillips hadn’t done this I think we’d be at least goal down by now which is the danger if he pushes forward.

So far so good but we'll need to step this up a fair bit to get anything.
Muric been outstanding, one double save was absolutely incredible. Davis started shakily again but stepped it up. We need more of a presence from the centre midfield boys while up front Hutchinson has been very poor and Delap looks laboured to say the least. Somebody needs to grab the game by the scruff of the neck I feel.
I would bring Clarke on for Hutchinson and Cajuste for either Morsy or Phillips, give it 15 then Hirst on for Delap.

Re: Premier League - Brighton & Hove Albion vs Ipswich Town Preview & Matchday Thread
If we take Phillips off we’ll get ripped apart. Our only real chance would be to match them with 4:4:2 so we can compete in midfield which they’ve completely dominated and why we can’t get Delap and the three behind him into the game. There is nobody linking the back with the front and if we try to with our current resources it can’t work.
McKenna needs to decide if he’s happy to play for a point and hope for a rare break against the run of play or go head to head with them but of course if it doesn’t work it could prove costly.
At least he has the resources on the bench to give it a go. If we come under a lot of pressure he may take Morsy off cos we can’t afford to lose him. Burns probably won’t see past 70 mins I expect to see Cajuste come on, Clarke and maybe Ogbene.

OMG Delap almost ripped the back of the net but struck the post. What a fantastic bit of individual play that was.

A triple substitution coming up from McKenna.
Clarke, Hurst & Ogbene coming on for Szmodics, Delap & Burns.
It looks like McKenna is going for 3 points as Clarke & Ogbene will really add pace and run at them.
We just need the defence to stay solid if we push forward as looks to be the plan. We certainly aren’t playing for a point.
This is bold stuff and we’re building in confidence.
64 mins and our first corner.

We had one touch in their box in the first half compared with their 21 in ours. That’s what you call pressure.

Leicester winning at Palace is ok if we can hold out for a draw we move up to 16th.
A draw would probably suit us better.

Morsy off for Luongo is sensible and Chaplin for Hutchinson ok too as he’s taken some heavy knocks and both on yellows.
