Wow, what a point that was. A few brilliant defensive displays there especially Muric (MOTM) Phillips & Greaves but to be fair to a man they worked their socks off.

Hutchinson is best on the right, Szmodics is best in the centre, I think it would be very hard for someone to argue against that, so I don't know why they're not being played that way...

That's my only minor quibble. I'm desperate to see Clarke Szmodics Hutchinson.

Ok, different occasions but looking at any positives to see how we may fare this season.

Ipswich 0 - Liverpool 2
Man U 0 - Liverpool 3

Brighton 2 - Man u 1
Brighton 0 - Ipswich 0

Surely that's something to take a lot of heart from. Also Ipswich are the first team to keep a clean sheet against Brighton. Great work by KM and his entire team. Even with our subs we never looked like we were settling for a draw though.

Obviously Muric MOTM but I thought Axel Tuanzebe and Philips were excellent, a great point which should give them great confidence and hopefully a win next week.

What an excellent and battling point that was against a team that can trouble anyone on their day.

Much better after the break and made a game of it, stunning run and shot from Delap nearly had us in dreamland. We looked much better when the subs came on, Ogbene definitely helped improve that side, as did Clarke.

I hold my hands up today with Muric's performance, he's definitely atoned for the Man City errors, more of the same please and I'll happily be proved stupid. MOTM for sure.

Not far behind Muric was Tuanzebe for me who was also excellent while the rest of the back Four stood firm. Kelvin Phillips also looked very impressive after the break and won a lot of fifty fifty balls.

All in all a superb and somewhat unexpected point against a very good side,especially at home. I think we've proven we belong here.

Wasn’t able to watch the game today, and hope MOTD give us a decent airing tonight. But what a bloody outstanding result today!! The players will get so much from that performance. Defend well and you’re half way there. I know nothing of individuals performances, but suspect is was backs against the wall for most of the game, and our best defence ( as I see it ), will be hard to dislodge now. Has Muric redeemed himself today ?

From behind enemy lines...

Firstly, as others have said that was an excellent point and well deserved. No poor performances out there and there were so many times when our players stretched out a limb to deflect shots and crosses. We could have won it but an away point at the third place team in the prem...how far we've come. Muric was great but want to single out Tuanzebe who just looked class and shut out Mitoma so effectively.

I sat with my sister and we just talked quietly to each other and had to do some wincing and bum clenching rather than shouting out. Obviously if we've scored (and we came close) that would have been hard. Would I do it again? Probably but was well jel of the town fans making some noise to our left

Excellent point from a real battling performance. Support was tremendous today as well and I’m sure that spurred the team on. Real bonding between the fans and team today and the players showed their appreciation when coming over to us at the end of the game.

My observations:

First of all, I’m pleasantly surprised we earned the point! Today it was all about defence, and we’ve proved we can defend against a top club.

Muric proved why we paid 10mil for him. In addition to his brilliant double save, he showed great command of the box.

Tuanzebe was immense!
Davis much improved defending!
Phillips a work horse!
Greaves strong and solid!
O’Shea’s block prevented a sure goal! Not sure Woolfy would have done that.

Delap is a locomotive and deserved the goal. How a man his size can be so fast is beyond me!

Other than Phillips as the defensive midfielder, I think our midfield struggled to maintain possession. Hutchinson didn’t have a good game and Szmodics had little impact. Burns did ok, but eventually got muted.

All in all, a great result. When we figure out how to score again we will be a handful for any team!

Yep, forgot to mention Clarke. He’s very good at cutting inside. He’ll score goals, no doubt. I still think Hutch is most dangerous in the center when he receives the ball and turns at the top of the box. You may disagree, but I think Szmodics is better suited to be an impact sub. I definitely think J. Clarke should be starting.

You can take certain level of pride in taking a point from a trip there. Brighton pulled off some standout scores and victories before yesterday so to go there and prevent them winning, believe many would have taken it before game was underway. All right we haven't won a game yet but it's like four fixtures in and some of the opposition team names we've had to face, many would argue we weren't ideally going to take a result from them.

Have berated Muric before yesterday and was never really convinced he was right for us but he got award as best player and performed admirably. One game doesn't necessarily swing opinion but he can build on that and it'll provide morale and confidence to the player for subsequent fixtures. It's only a matter of time before a first victory arrives for us and what's more you can take yesterday and build on it. Believe we must have proved a whole lot of neutrals and analysists wrong in taking a result from there. Ordinarily they would have expected us to lose but all told it's a credible result for the team which can inspire confidence to the immediate fixtures thereafter.
