Out of interest Marko, how many games without a win would it take for you to start getting a bit uneasy ? It's a serious question by the way.

Re: Premier League - Tottenham Hotspurs vs Ipswich Town Preview & Matchday Thread
To be honest, i typed out a “management OUT” joke post after the Everton game!

I don’t see it as “games without a win” in this first season as crazy as that sounds. I can only go by highlights and see that the team really is not that bad considering its supposed to be EPL standard. So to answer the question, for me, the team could go winless because I don’t think anyone else would turn it around in this first season with the personnel he’s got.
If the club are relegated…… big if still…… and its mid-table Champ by Feb 2026, I’d be thinking, Hmmmmm.
I’m convinced he’ll turn this season around. But I’m also aware that i do not see 100% of things. I DID see things at ER and was vocal about it being a disaster when JRoss was sacked. And it has been. Heckingbottom, Maloney, Johnson, Montgomerie, Sir David Gray……. Its a disaster.
Fear Ipswich sacking McKenna and getting a supposed “NAME” in and it all turning to proper sh*t……. Worse than 5 draws, 5 defeats.
Dreading the Spurs game.

So what is the solution. Sack McKenna ?
At the end of the day you can talk all the tactics and formations you want, I'm sure McKenna know every single one inside and out but if you don't have the players then ....
£100m is chicken feed in PL.
17th will be a fantastic achievement for Town but it will be a hell of a season of ups and downs to get there.
Think a bit of patience is required all round.

You saw him emptied and Warne added Feb 2022. So err,
…., can’t blame people for not going along with your tactical nous.

I'm more than patient mate, I went through the dark days every bloody week home and away before the glory hunters appeared. I'm well aware 17th will be fantastic but if anyone thinks everything is perfect and we don't make mistakes they are stupid beyond belief.valleyroad wrote: ↑Fri Nov 08, 2024 5:15 pmSo what is the solution. For £5M a year, I kind of expect him to try a few more of those tactics in games. He wasn't worried about listening to offers from elsewhere just after promotion remember and he also wasn't complaining about not having the right players when he signed his new deal. For that money, he needs to try harder! I am not even saying anyone could do it better - I want him here and I want him to succeed but is anyone thinks he stands above any criticism, they are delusional. I will be at Spurs on Sunday as usual and hope to see him earn his corn!valleyroad wrote: ↑Fri Nov 08, 2024 5:15 pmSo what is the solution. Sack McKenna ?

You want to see HT subs? (Other than just sandwiches)
You want to see formation changes?
Is that what you mean by earning his corn? Please tell us you’re not heading to Spurs expecting a win?

Manager is farting against thunder before a ball is even kicked.
Back in the day, trips to Parkhead & Ibrox were for the laughs and banter. If there was a win, then great….,,. But jaysus H, no one expected it.

No wonder the smart managers are looking at being Sport Directors at clubs now. Jack Ross being a perfect example !marko69 wrote: ↑Fri Nov 08, 2024 6:38 pmWhen you say that, it opens a few questions.Blue Wilf wrote: ↑Fri Nov 08, 2024 6:28 pmFor £5M a year, I kind of expect him to try a few more of those tactics in games. No I am not expecting to win - although I do think that our first win will come as a 'surprise' rather than one of games we 'expect' to win so you never know! What I mean by earning his corn is starting to react to game situations more effectively. Some things you cannot legislate for - others (ie playing to hold a lead at Brentford), you can so that's what I would like to see. I am not expecting miracles but I am hoping for a bit more luck, both divine (no - I am far from being God squad, just meaning that at some point things must swing out way!) and of our own making!marko69 wrote: ↑Fri Nov 08, 2024 6:38 pmWhen you say that, it opens a few questions.Blue Wilf wrote: ↑Fri Nov 08, 2024 6:28 pmFor £5M a year, I kind of expect him to try a few more of those tactics in games. Maybe debuting our bright pink kit at Spurs on Sunday will dazzle the opposition and send them dizzy.
Revised prediction; Spurs 0-3 Town

I’ll be at the game, albeit not sitting with the town fans sadly.
Think it could be a 4-0 job, we have conceded 4 away from home a few times now. Spurs are generally very strong at home and iffy away, we are decent at home and iffy away.
I think the spurs side cost 500m plus to assemble, yes we spent 100m but there are sides who were already good prem
Teams that spent more than that just topping up their already good squads this summer - the task KM has on his hands is huge.
Just trying to enjoy it where I can, it’ll be a long hard season.

Best bit of news from McKenna pre match news conference is this.....
"Axel, had cast fitted, so able to join in in contact training. Will be fine after break unless any issues. Greaves should be back after break, Taylor definitely back after break."
Brilliant news!!

Now we just needs the news John Wark has dusted off his boots and will be fit to start games, probably netting 25 goals from deep midfield this season.hallamblue wrote: ↑Fri Nov 08, 2024 11:22 pmBest bit of news from McKenna pre match news conference is this.....

Also, good news Mark Ashton has given Kieran the go-ahead to spend up to 100 million to bring in better-qualified players to strengthen the defence in the Jan window and tighten the defence to not ship silly goals

Not sure that line makes any sense, although I think I get what you're saying.
I don't expect anybody to necessarily go along with my "tactical nouse" as you put it - I'm just an ordinary bloke who has been watching football for over 60 years and have built up my own opinion of how I like to see the game played. Nobody has to agree with me - I'm not asking anybody to agree and I don't care if everybody else disagrees.
I'm curious, though, about your constant comparisons on recent threads between the EPL and the SPL. Pointless and meaningless comparisons in my book - the 2 leagues are miles and miles apart

Loved that shirt and badge. Not keen on thin lines of red on modern day ITFC shirts in collars or sleeves, but that red band was great. Made it look much less like the old, and now defunct Rangers FC shirts. Didn't buy the France shirt though.Bluemike wrote: ↑Sat Nov 09, 2024 8:43 amAbsolutely awful shirt Marko, would look better with paint on itmarko69 wrote: ↑Fri Nov 08, 2024 11:42 pmNot going off topic here as the pink kit has been mentioned.......

And not even a few miles......, but mammoth country miles apart. But 100% relative. Not as good managers for a not as good league, and supposed better managers for a better league. Given his 5 years (and £5M) the current boss will be the better boss in the infinitely better league.rossi wrote: ↑Sat Nov 09, 2024 12:56 pmNot sure that line makes any sense, although I think I get what you're saying.
