Re: January transfers
Has anyone else read about us potentially signing ex Chelsea current Galatasaray centre-forward Michy Batshuayi. It looks like an affordable fed is required but his current £80k pw salary might be a problem.
It could be complete bullshit but it suggests we’re still looking for another striker.

Re: January transfers
That rumour is circulating and was posted on twtd Andy. However I think mendipblub has further information as he seems to frequent various forums.

Re: January transfers
We are probably trying to gather as many options as possible so wouldn’t surprise me. I guess they have Victor Oshimen (on loan) who is a top-top striker so he will be the number 1 there.Charnwood wrote: ↑Thu Jan 30, 2025 8:23 pmHas anyone else read about us potentially signing ex Chelsea current Galatasaray centre-forward Michy Batshuayi. Re: January transfers
I see Brighton are close to signing CB Cashin from Derby, we should have bloody well been in for him, could have chucked Woolfenden and Burgess into the deal.

Re: January transfers
After reading the presser it looks like no more players in or out.
Anything active? Gut feeling? Squad is there or thereabouts, doesn't mean club aren't working on different situations. But my feeling is players here will be the ones we'll complete season with.

Re: January transfers
I lost hope of getting another striker in as soon as Al-Hamadi's loan deal was cancelled.....
.....Is what I just typed before a quick google says he has gone. So that leaves Delap and Hirst as our only recognised Strikers at the club, or have I missed something else?

It doesn't look great does it, but it's a funny division, 6 or 7 points from the next 4 games could change the outlook dramatically if Leicester and Wolves struggle.

Re: January transfers
Apparently Ensico can operate as a "false number 9", so I suspect McK will go with that.Ricco wrote: ↑Fri Jan 31, 2025 4:22 pmI lost hope of getting another striker in as soon as Al-Hamadi's loan deal was cancelled.....

Don't think he's going anywhere mate, and proves some of the rumours we often hear are absolute bollocks

Re: January transfers
Personally feel he won’t use him as a central striker or such. He is very much like Chaplin in his profile and attributes. KM. likes a big strong physical focal point and enciso isn’t thathallamblue wrote: ↑Fri Jan 31, 2025 5:04 pmApparently Ensico can operate as a "false number 9", so I suspect McK will go with that.Ricco wrote: ↑Fri Jan 31, 2025 4:22 pmI lost hope of getting another striker in as soon as Al-Hamadi's loan deal was cancelled.....

Re: January transfers
Ive no problem with it Mike. Hes a back up defender. McK referred to the line up of Axel, O'Shea, Greaves, Davis as the first choice defence only last week. So if Woolfenden is happy to stay here as back up that's fine. He hasn't played much anyway, and if the use of a back five was to get through these tougher games, but he now decides to revert to a back four, he wont get in ahead of O'Shea or Axel. If we do get relegated he might get a few games more, but unless O'Shea moves on , I seriously doubt it. But overall I still wont be surprised to see him move on in the summer.

ps: maybe your contact who is friends with Woolfie is full of sh*t then, so be careful how much weight you pit to his comments ...rumours are what they are, arent they, just rumours. none of us know for sure, but its what forums spin on .... rumours . And as we all know , contracts arent worth the paper they're written on.

Re: January transfers
So the transfer window doesn't actually close until Monday 3rd Feb then. I was convinced it was the last day of Jan. So still time to bring some players in then, good.

Re: January transfers
Reading between the lines I think we could possibly see some late activity to acquire a striker. Maybe Ashton & McKenna can now see clearly that this is the biggest threat to our survival in the Premier League especially if injury or suspension strikes Liam Delap.

Re: January transfers
Burns being out for the season will mean he can be de-registered from the squad so I think we now have space for one more.

100% agree. I'm honestly expect 2-3 more in.Charnwood wrote: ↑Fri Jan 31, 2025 9:49 pmReading between the lines I think we could possibly see some late activity to acquire a striker. Just seen Duran has gone to Saudi for 70m! That’ll be burning a hole in villas pocket - suspect this could be a domino effect, as it’s money from outside coming in from outside the league into it, could be a chain reaction.
I kind of hope they go for Cunha, to weaken wolves.
Suspect they will go for a striker who can also play alongside Watkins rather than either/or like Duran. Cunha would fit that.

As long as it isn’t Delap I really don’t care. Can you imagine our team without him.shabba wrote: ↑Fri Jan 31, 2025 10:28 pmJust seen Duran has gone to Saudi for 70m!
