Reading between the lines I think we could possibly see some late activity to acquire a striker. Maybe Ashton & McKenna can now see clearly that this is the biggest threat to our survival in the Premier League especially if injury or suspension strikes Liam Delap.
100% agree. I'm honestly expect 2-3 more in.

🤣🤣 your deluded, listen to the so called Messiah. If your ever right, I will be the first to opologise. Lots of from Derek who ever he is? (And I didn't swear unlike your filthy mouth) 🤷‍♂️🙄

I noticed Mick Mills commented on that contract offer, saying he felt it was "purely a financial decision, as the club wouldn't want the player to leave and we get nothing for him." which is exactly how I see it.

Yes certainly could be but what about Axel and Burgess both who I believe can move for nothing in the summer, I hope I'm wrong.

Ignore that according to transfer market Town have a one year option on both thank goodness.

Well that's a relief re both. Wouldn't want to lose either of them. I'm not actually bothered if we lose Davis ( not thst i think he'll go), as we have Townsend who looked a better defender in all honesty.

Like I've said, our recruitment is not being determined on which division we're in . There's a statgery that we are sticking to.

Town are closing in on the signing of West Brom keeper Alex Palmer.

According to the Express & Star, a £5 million fee has been agreed and Palmer is set to undergo a medical this afternoon, but while the move is progressing, we understand it isn’t quite as far down the line as suggested.

The Blues’ goalkeeper situation has been unsettled all season with summer signing Aro Muric putting in inconsistent displays and making way for Christian Walton before Christmas, the former Brighton man then suffering a groin injury at Liverpool just over a week ago.

Kosovo international Muric, who cost the Blues £10 million from Burnley, returned on Saturday but made crucial errors as Town were beaten 2-1 by bottom side Southampton.
I don't need to know anything about him, just get it done, that tells you everything

Even McKenna will have had enough of Muric.

Step 1 - Identify area of strength: Wide Forwards - invest £20m and stick the player on the bench anyway

Step 2 - Identify area of weakness: Goalkeeper - invest £2m at the last minute on a player with no Premier League Experience

Step 3 - Sit back in the smug warmth of your achievements, safe in the knowledge that the manager will cop the flack for your ineptitude.

Hopefully, Muric will cancel his contract by mutual consent, and he can go back to Kosovo and play there, so we will see what difference Palmer makes against Coventry this week in the FA Cup with Slicker on the bench, and the defence should feel more assured with a safe pair of hands behind them

Looks like we've inquired about Downes. Saints won't sell to relegation rivals and the fee is over £15m

I wouldn't pay 15p for him. His attitude stinks towards Town, and as fir £15,m they're having a laugh. He's gone backwards ( and i watched a fair few Saints ganes)..

No thanks.

I thought that when I looked at wiki but he has played 97 Championship games in the last three seasons, and 28 this season so almost ever present.
Just thinking I wonder if Mogga had anything to do with the transfer ?

But we won't get the 10 or 12 points back he's cost us, the damage is done. I think its criminal to pay 10 Million for him.

Question, if Palmer is good enough now, why did the club not buy him last summer instead of Muric?

Another goalkeeper was going to be kind of imperative what with Walton out of action for a time and Muric in so many words "prone to error", but it took a read from the TWTD main page to truly understand what this Palmer is all about.

Seems tall, could or can command his area, maybe more proficient on set pieces than someone else we could have brought in, but would expect to be used sparingly so soon after coming in. Probably feature with Coventry City in an upcoming Cup contest as the manager will field a change squad on the day from usual league action. After that guessing will play second choice behind Muric for a time, even if the latter is damaged goods. When Walton returns, whenever that be, would expect Muric to be moved on and Palmer set in stone second choice for goal duties.

Some garbage on TWTD in that we're looking to sell Delap for some ridiculous figure in a day or two or in no time at all. (It's non-practical because) First the buying club just don't require him and secondly the price indicated is simply absurd or far outside boundaries of reasoning.
