That's excellent! I hope he means it. I've been critical like many on here, but I still think he's the right man for the job...especially in the Championship.

Very good news indeed. A proven Championship manager is what is required for a bounce back season. 👍👌

Yep - as long as he truly is committed then I am good with that. Will be interesting to see how strong that commitment is if one of the big guns (OK - Spurs) come knocking but it is positive news indeed. 🤞👍

The article really doesn't say it like some are taking it, unless it's me.

I've just read the eadt article Mike, ( thanks mauswara) and I can only see positive in it tbh. He unequivocally said he wants to stay and continue as manager here. So his intentions appear crystal clear. I just hope he has personally learned a few things this season.

Also, as expected, the club are already making plans for next season, talking to current players soon to be out of contract, and likely opening/ continuing dialogue with potential targets.

That's fair enough then, clarity at this early stage is a good thing, and as we all know he's more than capable at Championship level.

Some would argue McKenna has lost considerable value (to other employers) the last 8 months we've been a Premier League club name. Simply because the season has been a failure. 1 win at home in the penultimate month of a season, 2 or 3 others with it for road trips. All told it's been largely unsatisfactory and whatever was expected back in the summer, we've fallen way below any real fair or reasonable expectation.

McKenna for two seasons was untouchable in terms of progress and demand but the highest level has caught him out to such an extent his overall value has dropped far below what it was once we finished runners up last May. Would another EPL team take him on or provide him a chance should he leave here. McKenna did great at lower league no doubt but the last 8 months have been a testament he's far out of depth when challenging the best club names the leagues have to offer.

Some in fact seem to have had enough of the manager if recent responses here and TWTD are anything to go by. Not only do we lose games more often than not but McKenna's insistency to put out the same damn formation time and again has worn mighty thin with a large selection of the fanbase.

It's not to advocate he's no longer suited to us or can do no more, but sometimes got to wonder if stays on as suggested are we really going to race away like before back at Championship level and gain an auto promotion. It's all hypothetical but even now it seems unlikely. Maybe judgment has been clouded by a totally unacceptable and crap season on return to the highest level, bottom line (being) just don't imagine he can replicate what was achieved before.

As much as KM has disappointed me in the PL, I can’t base an opinion on his overall abilities on this season alone. Let’s not forget this is his first managerial stint in the PL in addition to working with an inferior squad at this level. Prior to our promotion, he instilled a very professional ethos of team unity and attacking football…much of which was absent before his arrival. We’ve been successful at the lower levels, and I don’t see why KM can’t continue to improve the club’s football infrastructure. I’m certainly willing to give him another chance; he’s earned it. But…if we struggle in the Championship it will be time for a new manager in my opinion.
