Site speed
Hi Folks,
Is anyone finding that the site is really slow to load, or timing out over the past few days?
It may just be that I am a long way from the host server.
cheers Dave

Yeah I’m having intermittent issues. The site is very slow to load or won’t load.

I think it’s the relegation. We now have Championship connectivity.

Re: Site speed
It paused every now and again maybe an hour back. Trying it now, it seems to be normal operational.
The Pink Un was off-line for hours if not days a few weeks ago, couldn't access a damn thing. Maybe some technical issue traveled 40 miles down the A140 and caused a problem. A number of forums have these glitches, slow to respond etc, sometimes they crash altogether and it's hours at a time before it's up and running once more. Guess there's really nothing amiss, if you go through archives here you can pick out instances where alerts have been put in place to advise people technical faults were prevalent.

Re: Site speed
Yesh it's been really slow the past 24 hours.
Probably due to memory starvation, maybe the VM needs a reboot?

Maybe we're being hacked by cyber crims?
But yes, it's been slow...or just not loading at all.....

Re: Site speed
Maybe because we are hosted out of Leeds!
They say they have made a few tweaks to the settings that will maybe help.
I have asked Dazza to help about reducing the database size.
So I guess it’s goodbye Marko.

Re: Site speed
I would appreciate a heads up on this, Frosty. Please don't have Dazza eliminating the account without some kind of "fuss" happening first. That'd be genuinely devastating.
I'd rather be "banned" Pants Storm, Derick, 9 or Mendip style.
Maybe a weeks notice so that 3rd gear dickhead posts can be put into cruise control before the big day!

Re: Site speed
Site would not load at all for me for over 24 hours, each time I tried I got either 'could not connect to the server' or 'the server is not responding'. I did try different landing pages from my browser history with the same result.
Was almost tempted to check out TWTD lol.

Re: Site speed
The host for the site believes the issue lies with our database, which they said needs optimisation.
I reached out to two former tech people that assisted with the site in the past.
I can only assume that one of them addressed the issue, but I haven't heard as yet from either of them what/how they did to get it working again.
Regardless, I am extremely grateful.

Re: Site speed
OK thanks. Well at least our season is over anyway so no real damage done. I was hoping, deep down, that if the site went off line for a few weeks it would improve my chances of winning the prediction league but even that avenue of pleasure has been blocked now we are back

Re: Site speed
Yes it's been inaccessible for some days now, couldn't get a damn thing to work. That only left TWTD but try not to use it if possible except for reaction to games where a standout score has been evident. Here is better, no adverts or commercials to get in the way, less people, more relaxed atmosphere, easier to navigate. After all (and) for the veteran members it's familiar territory anyhow, there's no real need to venture elsewhere.

Trying to deal with what appears to be a serious SPAM issue.
For example there were apparently 4700 users online on Sunday.

Re: Site speed
Update:
According to EUKHost the ridiculous level of site activity came from Alibaba IP addresses which has now been 'blocked'.
Hopefully this addresses the recent issues.
cheers Dave
