Positive vibes only thread

Post by shabba » Wed May 28, 2025 5:52 pm

Things seem a bit toxic on here lately, disagreements and negativity - I guess it’s natural after such a challenging season

But can we have a space for just some positivity? Could be a special moment from this season, or something you’re looking forward to.

Personally although the seasons been hard going I’ve had some good memories still, I was at spurs away (albeit not in the away end), I took my son for his first ever game, got him his first kit and he was mascot too for another match. We did the the league sticker album together which was nostalgic from when I did it all those years ago.

I also had a great day out with my dad and his lifetime best friend where we made a full day of it.

Not a positive vibe but I don't like the disagreements and especially the negativity on here and I'm fed up with social media and I'm going to step away from it and just enjoy Town becoming Championship winners next season.

I think the way we started the season was very positive. We tried to play attacking football against a few of the best teams in Europe, and we did okay. I was very proud of some of our performances during the first half of the season.

We’ve picked up a couple of very good championship defenders with O’Shea and Greaves. We now have a very competitive #1 goalkeeper with Palmer. Hutch, Broadhead and Hirst are players who will have benefitted from the PL experience. Townsend was a great acquisition for LB. Hopefully we’ll have a fit Ogbene to fill in the gaps. A few more astute signings could definitely make us contenders to bounce back.

If KM can sort out the midfield and maybe adopt a more flexible tactical philosophy…we should be ok.

But…(censored it’s not positive).

True, also be interesting to see what Philogene can be like / he really struggled so far but there could be a real player in there.

Anyone got any personal memories from the season? Third that meant a lot to you or such? What are your personal standouts?

My biggest worry is that we don’t appear to get the best out of players who we know are great talents, the two obvious ones who spring to mind immediately are Jack Clarke and Philogene who I thought McKenna woukd take to a new level but it just hasn’t happened.

Two players I purposely left out of my comments. Philogene is at best a 2-million player. Don’t know what’s happened to J. Clarke…maybe he’ll redeem himself in the championship.

I personally think it's a ridiculous notion to try to restrict content of a particular thread to positive comments only, especially so soon after the end of a disappointing season. Strikes me as being a bit authoritarian and totally against the principles of a forum. Just saying

My only positive of the season was some of the performances from Liam Delap, particularly in the first half of the campaign, we all thought he'd be the worst signing and he turned that on its head, still much to learn but without him the season would have been catastrophic in my eyes.

yeah the Fulham goal and villa at home etc were superb, we celebrated those ones alot when seeing them go in. I loved his chant too, great one to sing.

Although I didnt go and didnt actually see the game live, the Spurs away victory is stand out for me . and I put this down to the change in players / formation up front. Othere than that there has been sod all to be positive about in my book. Role on next season where hopefully we might see Town back at it ...

The away area was ROCKING, I had a right laugh as I went with a Spurs ST holder, his best mate (arsenal fan) and me, me and the mate were 'gutted' every time town scored

I recall after the game going into the toilet and nobody was in there - so I screamed and celebrated  - I'd been dying to do it for ages so was pent up! It was a wonderful memory to see town win in such an elite stadium.

We still played 4-2-3-1 according to the BBC, I deffo think we looked brighter with Szmodics in there behind Delap though, bloody shame he was injured so much. We definitely need Sammi fit next season, could be a massive player for us as scored a bucket load at that level.

Taylor’s last minute winner at Wolves probably topped it for me. It’s amazing how football brings out such emotions in people, remember hugging somebody who I had never met before and both of us just going mental when that goal went in.
Obviously Spurs away was special and us taking the lead at Man City, although it didn’t last long, will live in the memory for a long time. Fulham away was good as well and I always enjoy going to Craven Cottage whatever the result.
The other away that I was glad that I was able to do was Everton for one last visit to Goodison.

Spurs away was amazing - the whole of the bar area banging on the walls and singing 'Liam Delap ole ole' endlessly was such fun - will try and find the video...

All about perspective.. when Town came up from L1 in 23, most people thought championship consolidation was the aim, a top 10 finish great, and top 6 the dream.

So Town massively over-achieved but if we'd got top 10 in 24 and say made the playoffs in 25, we'd all be full of positivity now.

At least we know what we need now if we go back up next year. Namely, strength and experience as well as skill.

Oh and we're quids in from our brief appearance in the prem, so another reason to be cheerful 🙂

Not much blue going on with the fans there @ Spurs. Same up here with Hibs --->> the younger generation seem to NOT wear the colours these days.
Other than the Liam Delap chanting, you'd struggle to guess that is an Ipswich Town support on a glance only.
Maybe it's purely because the football tops are four and a half grand a piece and Ribeye steaks are £7.50.
The positive being; too much protein does have its drawbacks as well.

Well you can grill a steak, pan-sear a steak, broil a steak, stir fry a steak, roast a steak, make a pie with steak, make a taco with steak? When an Ipswich Town win is at stake, I’ll certainly take the cake…even in a liquid form.

Is that positive?

True - however, I suspect lots of people would not want to wear colours overtly in that part of north London.

Yes i think you’ve nailed it on the head there. A lot of morons out there. Wasn’t there an unfortunate Ipswich lad duffed up in Norwich season before last. Someone posted about it on here. Not good.
70s 80s horrendous……. Got better in the 90s, early 00’s…… but it’s gone a bit mad again.
I blame the steak prices.

Kieron McKenna was asked today why, when the game was finished, he was still covering his mouth when speaking.
