Hey, KLB, long time no hear...really good to see you posting again :D . How are things in KL ?

Not sure how reliable that newsfeed is, I get it on my phone sometimes too.... I think Town will be linked with every striker breathing now Delap is all but gone. Inevitable really. But hopefully we will get the stoker situation sorted thus window.

Great to see you posting again. Keep it up ....
The stoker situation?? Well we certainly need to build up a head of steam to start the season. Oh and lets hope MA will get someone to pull the chain to blow the whistle too 😂

Ronaldo's going to be free agent in a short time when his contract with some Arabs expires. Playing out in the desert in beyond twilight of a career.

No he won't come here but thing is he still continues to - or can - play at around 40 years of age and believe still features for Portugal during internationals and tournament. Three years back I didn't imagine we'd be an EPL club name while playing out in League One, so guess with that, all avenues are open to reason or you can dream or fantasize. Few would want him here though but what a great advert for the town and club name it would be. Would jump at the chance if only for one last season the player could provide. It ain't gonna happen for sure but somewhere, someplace you can eye an opportunity.

Think he'll be happy continuing to live with his family, tax free in Dubai. I expect to see some part time activities for him. Once you're in Dubai, the tax cost of moving elsewhere makes it hard to justify taking a job in a tax paying country and uprooting the family.

Retained list :

Don't think it tells us an awful lot. My only question is, of those in the section returning from loan, how many are still under contract znd/ or likely to be sold on?

Lee Grant not wasting any time at Huddersfield. He's just signed Marcus Harness! Harness will do well there I think.

To be honest i’m more interested in todays Team Talk report that Sam Morsy maybe released on a free transfer to oersue opportunities in the middle east. Whilst I don’t think this would be a bad move for either our football club or Sam I do think appointing his departure would leave a huge void that McKenna must get right.

Ipswich Town captain Sam Morsy could potentially leave this summer, with sources exclusively revealing to TEAMtalk that the 33-year-old midfielder is open to a move to the Middle East.
Morsy only signed a new deal in the summer of 2024 and has one year left on his current contract, but sources state that Ipswich are willing to let their club captain go for free.
This development comes as part of a significant squad overhaul at Portman Road following the Tractor Boys’ relegation from the Premier League, with the club preparing for life back in the Championship.
Morsy, a pivotal figure in Ipswich’s recent history, has been a linchpin in the midfield since joining from Middlesbrough in 2021.
The midfielder’s leadership and tenacity helped guide the club to promotion in 2023, and he remained a consistent performer during their brief Premier League stint.
However, with Ipswich now facing a rebuild under manager Kieran McKenna, sources indicate that the club are ready to part ways with several high-profile players, including their skipper, to facilitate a fresh start.
The Egypt international, who has made over 150 appearances for Ipswich, is keen to explore opportunities in the Middle East.

Hmmm. Wouldn’t begrudge him the move but I’d worry that we lack leaders and standard setters if he goes as we’ve also lost that aspect when Masimo left too.

‘Rebuild’ seemS OTT also, in think most of us agree we only need 3-4 players really.

Hi Hallam hope you good, will try to keep posting, the last 2 years have been hell for me and my family. Football seems to have taken a backseat.
And I do think Delap's replacement will prove to be just as good.

He’s certainly been a great leader and I’ve always admired and enjoyed watching his passionate play. Not sure about his standard setting given his ability to pick up twice as many disciplinary cards in a season as necessary.
All said and done I think we’ve seen the best of him and it’s probably the right time for both player and club for a change.

This ties in with what Hallam and I were told weeks ago in that Morsy had actually received offer from the far east. Be interesting to see what comes of it. Gonna need a hell of a,replacement that's for sure. O'Shea for captain then.

I assume it’s middle and not far east Mike, mute point of course.

I imagine behind the scenes he is doing a lot. Setting the code of conduct, the standards at training, helping new signings settle etc.

Yes, my mistake. All that said he's giving out interviews suggesting he is definitely here next season.

As for Sam Morsy moving on, I think it will be a good move for him to play in the Middle Eastern leagues nearer to his homeland Egypt, for me, he has always picked up an unnecessary amount of Yellow cards plus his game of asking for short ball supplies from the keeper and the number of times he's messed up big time, so I would like to see a complete rebuilding of our side and even let Wolfenden go, our defence has to have no weak players like him who lots of times is just ball watching with no aggressive cutout action caught in no man's land just like Lief Davis has been, so I wouldn't mind seeing Forest buying him and we stick with Townsend at LB or bring in Cresswell on a freebie signing.
So let us see what sort of summer signings we can muster up in both defence and midfield we have to get it right for an immediate return to the premiership

Unfortunately Shabba, that's not gonna happen.
I've just got to learn how to move on, as my wife passed away in November, after 18-24 months bad health.

Sorry for your loss too KLB and sending my sincere condolences to you and your family. Unfortunately I’m now of an age where I go to more funerals than weddings and have a better understanding how devastating it can be losing partners and close friends. Hopefully you’ll have some great memories to help you along the way and a good network of friends and family to support you.
